Great time at Playa Mazatlan Beach Hotel
ROBERT AND JANICE WATSON Great Time at Playa Mazatlan Beach Hotel We were impressed with the Playa Mazatlan Beach Hotel located right in Downtown Mazatlan. The staff was excellent and everyone was pleasant and did their best as we do not speak Spanish The hotel was older but very well laid out as my wife uses a transport Chair and everything is accessible. There were ramps everywhere and one that took her right to the beach where we helped her get to the ocean every day. The restaurants were all good with the Brazilian we felt was the best. We found the buffet really good with sufficient choice but at the end it was repetitive but we were there 15 days and that is to be expected. The waiters in the buffet were exceptional! Our room was 304 on the third floor but that presented no problems with good and numerous elevators. The room was good and although somewhat dated was kept in excellent level of cleanliness. They mop the floors there constantly and that level of cleanliness was throughout the resort. We almost did not go do to this hotel due to the bad reviews we saw, but were convinced by our relative who had been there 4 times before. I am glad we went and circumstances permitting we will return. I would like to address some of those parts of the bad reviews: 1) Loud bands playing on the beach. Yes they were there and loud but they only stayed a few minutes and left. I found it loud but part of the experience. No big deal! 2) Room had mold. I can only speak to our rooms and they were clean 3) Too many people speaking Spanish DAH you are in Mexico! 4) The food was cold at Buffet Experienced a little of this but it was not due to them not trying. It is difficult when you look at the length of time it is open. I found going early eliminated that problem. 5) Vendors on the beach Loved those guys just talk to them they are just trying to make a living. Once they get to know you are not interested they are fine yet still had a conversation with us every day. 6) Noise From Oyster Bar This is real just insist on a room at the opposite side of the hotel. If you are a party person you probably be at the bar anyway. Bottom line I would go back and intend to next year! Date of experience: February 04, 2025

Don't believe any good reviews, they are fake ones made by the hotel
I'm currently staying here and don't go home for a few days This was the worst experience I've had at a hotel line ups for hours because they allow locals in for days passes Water dripping on people's sleeping heads. No seats at the pools or beach because the place is flooded with locals on a day pass. Never come here it's not worth the small amount of savings

Could be a 6 star but barely a 1 star
This was our second trip to Hotel Playa. The first time was a wonderful time as most of our family members have never been to Mexico so we decided to go again. BIG MISTAKE. This hotel is gone so far downhill. We were 4 families with kids and one of the things we looked forward to was the kids play area with the pool, ship and the big bucket that dumped water down. That and the pool next to it was shut down. We understand that maintenance needs to be done but wouldn't it make more sense to do it in the summer when it's less busy? Or reduce the vacation rate for reduced amenities. Ony one pool was heated. Charging full price for half a hotel is not fair. Had we have known we would have stayed elsewhere. Second big problem was the food. Nothing and I mean nothing at any of the meals we had was hot or even luke warm, even the kids wouldn't eat the cold fries. Not as much variety as last time either as they seem to cater more to the Mexicans. TV? yup if you speak Spanish. People don't go to watch tv but it's nice if the little kids are having a rest time and we like to watch a bit of tv before going to sleep. You'd think that with a lot of English speaking tourists, they'd have at least a few English speaking channels. Rat traps? Last time we were there we never saw one but now? Yup all over the place. Suggestion, if you can't control the rats, please have the people cleaning out the traps put the dead ones in a bag instead of carrying them by their tails down the hall way. There is not supposed to be smoking either on the beach or the hotel grounds and yet no one supervises and there were quite a few smokers and lots of butts. Also dogs where owners didn't clean up after them. Not great for anyone walking to step in it. Two good things I can say about this hotel is that the rooms were clean, (a little mold in the shower in one of the rooms) and the staff at the front desk were friendly and very helpful. It is in a great location for shopping and walking around. Everyone has a different opinion and this was ours. We will never recommend or stay here again.

Alejandro the young bartender
Great place to stay for the whole family. Staff is very friendly, lots of pools for the kids. Special mention to Alejandro the bartender, he is extremely friendly and great at his job. Hopefully I get to see him as the boss when I come back next time.

Bartender awesome ( Alejandro)
Place was good for family and beach and location. Wish there was a bit more for kids. But bartender made the trip better. Younger guy named Alejandro was awesome every time we saw him and made the trip more enjoyable. Was always happy and very good English.
