So disappointed
My family and I just arrived at the Marriott Waikoloa for a 13-day stay over the holidays ($854/day + add’l charge for the 3rd guest) and unfortunately we are already very disappointed. This is our third stay at this property so we are familiar with the resort and had great expectations based on our previous stays. However, everything seems like a significant step down from our previous stays: - No welcome lei. Ok it’s a detail but this is Hawaii and this seems like the wring thing to skimp on. Also the other area hotels have it. - No valet parking. You must now self park your car. - More importantly, we had reserved an Ocean view for 3 adults and were first given a room which, although it technically faced the ocean in the distance, was completely recessed in the back of a courtyard. Hard to explain but not what you picture when you think of an ocean view room. - We inquired if a better room was available and after much discussion, a more typical ocean view room was identified. Although it didn’t have a pull down sofa in addition to the king size bed like the first room had, we thought we would just request a rollaway … that’s when we were informed that in addition to paying an additional $585 for the third person, we would have pay $45/night for the rollaway ie, an additional $585. I guess the 3 of us were expected to sleep in the king size bed. - The room is dated and we’ve already had to call maintenance to fix the AC unit which was very loud. I guess this is the holidays and one of the competitor hotels in the area is being remodeled therefore decreasing the number of available hotel rooms , so they probably feel they can get away with it. I just want to say that my husband and I have each been Bonvoy members at the Platinum and/or Gold levels for years and this is just so disappointing from Marriott. We are now stuck here for 13 days, but needless to say we will never return.

Disappointed in Marriott as a Bonvoy member.
This property was a major disappointment. We are Marriott Bonvoy members and use Marriott extensively when I travel worldwide. We were paying $625-$650 USD night and had high expectations for a resort property in Hawaii. One expects a certain standard when paying these rates. We ordered room service our first morning and it was brought in a paper bag and served with plastic forks and in paper bowls with plastic lids. The in-room coffee was the cheapest I have ever seen in a hotel room. Weak. And in paper cups. The cost for Nespresso is $.60/pod and it makes a good cup of coffee. Why not at least offer a guest a good cup of coffee when it is so easy? The food was also poor: hash browns tasted like they were thawed while on griddle. Tasted like water. Disgraceful. Poolside, we grabbed two pina coladas. One nonalcoholic. Price? $36/USD. Self parking? $35/day The hotel water tastes like it is over chlorinated. Distinct difference from bottled water. The staff were kind and we received good service from the front desk in particular. Shawn was gracious and professional. This property got a 2 on the scale because of the people. We cut our stay short and found another place to stay part way through. Good decision. This makes me rethink the leadership of the Marriott. Some basic steps to respect their guests and this property can regain some credibility. Paper cups and bad coffee symbolizes how they have let down their own people, never mind the guests.

Most fantastic hotel. We keep going back and it gets better every time.
Good morning. I would like to tell you all about our recent stay at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott hotel and spa. This was our fourth stay, having just been there last December. We are Bonvoy Titanium members and love to travel, and Waikoloa has become our favorite spot. From the minute we drove in, we felt like we were home again. We love seeing the same faces at the driveway, and at breakfast, and at check in. But there are a few people I'd like to give our most amazing recommendation to. We've known Anette Hemphill for a few years now. She is such a friendly knowledgeable and helpful compassionate person. When we see her we feel like we're home again. She's always so helpful before we get to the hotel, and makes sure we have a perfect room and that she takes great care of us. And she does! She truly wonderful. We have known Mia Atsumi from our stays at the Royal Hawaiian in Honolulu. She took amazing care of us then, and we are so thrilled that she is at Waikoloa because we can see her and spend time with her there!. She is a wonderful caring compassionate person. Waikoloa is lucky to have her as a team member! How amazing that our last morning, the women at breakfast gave us a hug and everyone said "we can't wait to see you again." That's not your typical large resort hotel, and that's exactly what we love about Waikoloa. Have a great day and book your trip there!

Short sheeting
We have been here 3 days now and have been short sheeted every day. The staff is very pleasant but when it comes to sleeping I don't like my feet to touch a mattress. It's an easy thing to fix, just double sheet it. I've called down all 3 days and had to fix it myself all three days. I don't feel like I'm being heard. It is a resort.

Not worth the price
Outdated hotel with small rooms and only one restaurant/bar with a very limited menu. The beach doesn't have loungers and the pool area fills up quickly. The staff was lovely but the hotel and grounds was underwhelming considering the cost.
