Like an expensive British holiday camp
We booked this hotel while in Orlando for a family holiday, for 5 nights. We cancelled a previous hotel in the Orlando area to come here to make use of the availability in purchasing the preview tickets for Epic Universe. The hotel is like an overpriced, expensive, British holiday camp, like Butlins. The rooms are nice, we had a family suite, but the walls are paper thin and we were kept awake by noisy neighbours and woken up by them early in the morning. Also the fridges are very noisy too. Beds and pillows were very firm and uncomfortable. Our hotel room overlooked a coach car park and they were picking up and dropping off extremely large groups of teenager school kids for majority of our trip and so also had the constant noise of coaches just waiting with their engines running, The Starbucks in the hotel, is like a ride queue in itself and you could be waiting around 30 mins to get served. Plenty of choice in the canteen like restaurant. This hotel is used for large groups of kids(also large groups of cheerleaders while we were there) so bear in mind it will be noisy. Especially with it being the cheapest Universal hotel. Universal also changed the goal posts with anyone being able to purchase Epic tickets while we were there so didn’t need to stay here. In hindsight we wish we hadn’t. Would we stay again, probably not.

Totally fine
Cabana Bay nowadays falls into the 'value' category of the Universal hotels, but there is nothing wrong with it. OK, the rooms seem to need some maintenance here and there, but everything works fine. The air conditioning is quiet and works fine, the shower was not very fantastic with us, but the beds are good and storage space and value for money are fine. The hotel itself is very large, but easily walkable and through the pools also a nice walk. The Bayliner Dinner is very noisy, but the food here is fine (try the croissant with egg, bacon and 'Swiss cheese' for breakfast) and affordable. Furthermore, there are many facilities and you are within walking distance (in the morning fine, in the evening take the bus or boat) of the parks. Just a nice place and more than enough quality.

Of the best
The second time I'm lucky enough to go to this hotel and I'd always come back. The place, its pool, the atmosphere, everything is right and well put. Being from Universal, you have early entry to the parks. This time I had to go with a young son and it was enjoyed even more.

dont
We have stayed at the property twice, we raised an issue with Lowes who did not respond. We raised with Universal who stated the issues lie with Lowes. We spent over £10,000 from the UK. Nothing still from Lowes. In addition, the service we received from Universal has been astonishing, so bad. The hotel is large, the noise in the rooms is terrible, they cater for very large groups of football teams in summer, it spoilt our holiday.

Convenient but not great
The hotel is right near the park entrance which is great. Room is nice but other than that poor. The toiletries in the shower are not that nice, we got no room service and the information we got about volcano bay was not helpful. We asked them if we needed to know anything and they said no you’re fine. Turns out for the tickets you need the app which we didn’t have and had to get sent over to the customer service line to get them printed. We also asked what time the park opened and they didn’t even know it. Like come on. The hotel is very convenient but other than that it isn’t worth it
