Giving this hotel 4 stars is beyond generous. We had originally booked The Mariott but about a month before our stay, they contacted us and said they were cancelling us because they had a large group coming in they offered to switch us to The Westin and we agreed. During the reservation process the agent on the phone told me the store was under construction - more than misleading - absolutely everything is UNDER CONSTRUCTION including landscaping outside our room which resulted in constant noise from the workers. Almost every bar/restaurant/store/ice cream shop is CLOSED and under construction. The property is run-down and dated. The "junior suite" is a bedroom, nothing about it is a "suite" it is a large one bedroom with one draw that worked and two that you could not open or close easily. There was no other furniture to store clothing. The room did not contain any information about the hotel, no way to find out about restuarants/menus/amenities (that were open -there were two open restaurants), no information about the spa, etc. Maid service was lacking and a day didn't go by where we didn't have to call due to a shortage of towels, no tissues, etc. The pool is not heated and it is hard to find an available chaise. The entry areas had uneven surfaces and people were falling like crazy since it was hard to walk on. There is a children's pool but children were in every pool. The best part about the hotel is the staff - very friendly and accomodating. Shame on you Mariott for cancelling us and sending us here. I would definately not recommend this hotel and gave it three stars because of the staff and the food was good.

Absolutely NOT worth it. So disappointing.
There isn’t enough staff to support the demand of the clients which results in extremely long wait times for every single request. Bar service does not begin until noon and while you can order mimosas before then, the beach bar ran out of champagne by 11am. The beach is quite small and the pool area is not well-designed, necessitating long walks to acquire basics like towels. Do NOT pay more for the fancy palapa because that area is trash. Overall this was a very disappointing vacation experience. We would not return to this hotel, and additionally are very hesitant to book through Costco Travel again since our expectations were far from met. So different from what others have said, we did our research and still ended up at a huge financial loss and with great emotional burden of disappointment from a miserable trip.

Best in Puerto Vallarta
This resort was fantastic. The rooms were well appointed and cleaned every day. Our room faced the ocean and sitting on the balcony every night was incredible. The pool is beautiful as it has lots of nooks to hang out by yourself. The restaurants were the best we've ever had at a resort. The property is very well maintained. There was some construction going on but it was not intrusive. Finally the staff were the best we've ever met. You can tell how well a resort is by talking to the employees. They love working here and it shows. I can't say enough about how helpful and attentive they were. The location is incredible as you have easy access to the Marina which was where we walked almost every night to see the shops and local market (Thursday night only). We will definitely stay here again. Very Safe! The Westin should be very proud of all of their employees at this resort!

A wonderful place for a family to stay in PV
We have stayed here 4 times now and for a family with youngish children I can't say enough good things. The staff is always friendly and the access to the Marina as well as Downtown PV is great. The pool area can get pretty busy, but that is to be expected. We love this property and the onsite doctor is fantastic(yes we have had to use him )

Excellent Staff at the Puerto Vallarta Westin
Excellent staff at the Puerto Vallarta Westin. True professionalism with Hugo, Andy & Ruben at the Main Desk. Fun times with Angel Campeon & Reyna Isabel at poolside & afternoon cocktails. Lily at El Palmar cooking station & Israel as dedicated server.
