Fantastic family vacation at the beautiful resort. Beach and water top notch!
My family and I (including two teens) just enjoyed a week at the the beautiful Westin Hapuna Beach and loved our time there! We were pleasantly surprised by the roominess of our Ocean View room and loved the large lanai with stellar views. We were on the 8th floor and sat above the residences in front of us which really made a difference and elevated our view. The room itself was clean and well kept, nothing of note from us. My husband is platinum with Marriott and the two daily included continental breakfast options were perfect for our family. There was a large selection of delicious pastries, some simple parfaits, fresh fruit and coffee. Nothing extravagant but since we’re not big breakfast eaters it was perfect for us! The pools and beach were breathtaking. We’ve made many trips to Kauai and our last family vacay was to Turks & Caicos and this rivaled the best beach/water we’ve been too. Beach chairs were popular but with a little patience we were always able to find somewhere to sit. The only disappointment, if you can call it that, was the food. The beach bar was a fantastic location but the food was just ok. Our dinner at Meridia was delicious and one of our best of the week but overall food on the island was mid. (We ended up trying a lot of the options in Waikoloa and nothing knocked our socks off either. )

Location Great, ANTS NOT
Despite its 4+ star rating and beautiful location, this hotel has an ant problem. Ants reappeared despite disinfection efforts, and management’s promises fell short. Adding to the disappointment, the staff is surprisingly rude for a hospitality-focused industry. Temporary fixes aren’t enough for a property of this caliber. While the views and amenities are excellent, the recurring pest issue and poor service significantly impact the experience. Until resolved, I cannot recommend staying here.

Beautiful setting
Lovely setting and hotel. Service was good most of the time (the breakfast staff were particularly good as well the Meridia staff who were leagues above the rest) however we were disappointed on a few instances that would have made our stay more enjoyable. For instance, we arrived after two days of travelling and little food to be told they had no gluten free room service offerings and if we wanted we could come down with a plate and help ourself to the left over salad (coupled with tiredness and hunger this was particularly annoying and we felt that staff just couldn’t be bothered to sort something) Another example was when we went for dinner at the beach bar one evening and we were the only people waiting to be served and nobody came over for 40 minutes and the staff just stood chatting at the bar. There was a few more instances that happened due to staff that we felt let down by. We felt that a little more staff training would go a long way to make guests stay a lot more comfortable. On the positive, the room was always clean, the views are fantastic and we loved the complimentary bottles we were given to fill up with the fresh water fountain next to our room. I’d say this hotel would be perfect for a family trip as a fun beautiful place to be.

Great resort with many staff who are superb
This resort was fantastic from top to bottom. Starting with our room, it was beautiful. I was a bit worried about the wear and tear since I read some of the reviews…but this was not a concern. Room was well taken care of and was well appointed. No obvious signs of wear. I used SNA’s as an elite to be upgraded to a premium ocean view…well worth it as it is higher up and a great view. Not too many suites here so temper your expectations for that type of upgrade. The pools were both fantastic. We spent time during the day at the larger family pool and I did my night swimming at the pool with a better view which was the adult pool. The pool service left a little to be desired. They for not set up the loungers for you or check on you a lot (save for one really good pool attendant). All in all it is more than sufficient…but don’t scorch Four Seasons or Luxury level service. If I was to recommend one improvement, this would be the only thing I would want to change about this resort. Front desk staff, valet staff and restaurant staff were all excellent! All very nice and accommodating! Megan at the concierge was also very helpful. The elite breakfast buffet is sufficient for a day or so…but you will probably want to uncharged to the full buffet (hot items) for a few days. It is a $25 plus tip up charge and is worth it in my opinion. The shuttle to the Mauna Kea for dinning is well worth it. The Hau Tree was amazing! Our server both times was Wehilani. She was excellent and gave us a great level of service! Very attentive and seemed to enjoy her job. My mom is ADA and Robert the golf cart driver after our meals was so friendly and helpful. He had a great attitude and made us smile. We can’t wait to come back again some time.

Gorgeous resort!
This is a beautiful resort located in a lovely stretch of soft sandy beach. The surf was unusually rough and the undertow especially strong when we visited. There have been several drownings - 2 during our 3 day stay so be cautious about the water conditions. The resort charges approximately $40 a day resort fee and parking is $35/day. The resort fee covers several things including access and use of beach chairs and umbrellas. We dined at the beach grill and it was very good - hamburgers, coconut shrimp, Cobb salad and fish tacos were very tasty and reasonably priced. The resort has several pools including an adult quiet pool, but go to the beach - that’s why you’re in Hawaii! 😄 The rooms are really well appointed - such comfortable beds and bedding and the views are stunning!
