Horrible security or lack of.
The staff was friendly and amazing. Excellent food in the restaurants on site. 4 days into the stay, as I walked down to use the fitness room at approximately 6am, a man ran into the hotel screaming and was combative. For a hotel this size, there was only one security guard and he could not contain this person. I watched in horror as a young man behind the desk helped. They were kicked and hit as they had him on the ground. Let me add, all the doors in the hotel were never locked. This I noticed as I went to the spa out the back door and as we returned from the pool using a side entrance. You get bracelets to use an elevator yet nothing else is secure. The police arrived and they were also attacked by this individual.

Great hotel for families
We previously stayed at the Ritz, but the Westin always looked like more fun, so we gave it a try and it didn’t disappoint. The pool and beach are perfectly situated so you can go back and forth easily. Shirlando at the kids club “made the whole trip” according to my kids, who loved his daily activities. The rooms are pretty nice and I recommend the rooms with a full beach/pool view for ultimate experience. Food was great, (didn’t love the breakfast buffet) and it’s close enough to walk to nearby restaurants. Having Red Sail located on the property was also super clutch, cuz we like activities/excursions and we didn’t have to walk far to book, like other locations. Overall, it was a great experience and we’d definitely go back.

Alllll the Blues!!!
We (sadly) just returned from a tremendous week -long stay at Westin Seven Mile Beach Cayman. Status related comments: -Scored the Titanium upgrade to a room with a lovely view, in the scheme of the hotel. We used half points/ half cash for the cheapest room and ended up in the highest category non-suite—-top floor right in the center—which has the best non-suite view. -We were contacted in advance by a liaison asking if we had any specific requests—the upgrade was to our specs (view > suite for us). -$50 breakfast buffet comped daily -$10 voucher for food/bev per day -2 bottles of water per day + rum cake turndown -Lovely plate of birthday desserts awaited our arrival General comments: -The size of the resort is ideal, for us. You can walk anywhere in 5 minutes. -Seven Mile Beach really is just gorgeous….all the blues…powder sand…..super clean….easily swimmable….you can walk for (7) miles. -The views from the balconies at this resort are inherently odd, as the pool and a ton of palm trees are between all ocean view rooms and the beach, except the 2 suites on either end of the resort. -There is music outside 6p-8p and inside 8p-10p. Different and really talented musicians every night of our 7 night stay. -The Beach House resto (most upscale) and the coffee shop were excellent. So was anything containing mahi or snapper at the other spots. -Really nice view from breakfast—get there early or late to score a spot on the perimeter. -The casual beach resto is a terrific patio with excellent HH. -It’s pricier than many properties we’ve enjoyed; it’s not an inexpensive island, in general. -If you don’t want to pay $5 for soda, $30 a drink, and $$$$ for mid sushi…walk across the street to the complex with the mini-mart/ liquor store/ sushi resto/ frozen yogurt place. -If you do want to pay those prices, the beach service is excellent. -A bracelet acts as your digital key to get you up the elevator/ in your room. Very convenient. -Super convenient that the primary catamaran company operates off of the beach and the oldest snorkel operator is across the street. -Heritage Kitchen for lunch or dinner is a must. $20 cab ride or $2 public bus aka shared van ride. -Nice touches at the restos including amuse bouche and truffles after the meal. -So much local seafood, housemade bread, housemade pasta. -Scoring a beach chair in the front row is an adventure. Be on the beach by 6:45a to drop your towel. -8 minute cab ride ($32) to hotel from airport. And the airport was truly the easiest intl process we’ve ever experienced on both ends. -Apparently rental cars are inexpensive and parking free. That’s the way to go if you want to explore—cabs aren’t cheap. -The decor is beachy contemporary—color palate reflective of that of the water. -Non-suite rooms are small. -Side note: The setup of the Ritz is odd. It’s 2 resorts down except that the hotel is on one side of the major road and the beach on the other. Big deterrent for us from the view and convenience standpoint. I keep looking for the bluetooth button thingy at my house to have a drink brought to me. Cannot find it.

Amazing Fall Vacay at the Westin Grand Cayman
We had an amazing time in Grand Cayman and as with any Marriot property, The Westin did not disappoint! We had a very hard time choosing between this property and the Sea Fire nearby since they were priced very similarly. Both are absolutely beautiful (we took a tour of the other) but feel we made the right choice, the beach and pool were so close to the property, the beach area was much bigger, calmer, water much clearer, and it was walking distance to lots of shopping, grocery stores, liquor stores, pharmacy and so many amazing dining options 0.5-.75 mile walking distance. Drinks were a bit pricey outside of happy hour so you might want to make the trip to get some of your favorites at the Tortuga's at the Governors Square Shopping across the street. We were so glad to see the standard of living very healthy for the locals, felt very safe everywhere we went. We can't wait to go back! The week before Thanksgiving is the perfect time to travel as rates are lower and go up almost everyday the closer you get to the holiday. Highly recommend the tour to Stingray island and starfish point. Even in the rain its worth the trip!

Over Priced Average Hotel
This a a pretty basic hotel with excellent beach. The hotel rate is over priced for the room quality. You are paying for the beach since there are not a lot of hotels with real beach’s. I was very disappointed in the room quality. It was clean but very average. There were was one morning with no hot water and another with limited hot water. I suspect this is because it is an older property that needs new infrastructure. The partial view requires leaning and being on the balcony. The bar area at night is very loud so don’t plan on having a casual conversation. Hotel staff was excellent. The main restaurant is average. The steakhouse is not so much a steakhouse as most the menu is fish. The food was good but don’t plan on a five star menu. Service in the restaurants were excellent. Bottom line is this is not a five start rating and I fail to see how and why it rates so high on trip advisor. In review of the very negative ratings I can see how they had that experience. If you’re a top tier Marriott (I am Titanium) think of this as an average Marriott property. Keep expectations low.
