There is no such thing as 5 star in Tenerife
So I came here expecting a 5 star experience after paying £4500 for 4 nights. The room was spectacular. Huge. But dirty. Filthy unclean floors. No dressing gown and slippers for my child, had to ask. They provided only 1 toothbrush in vanity kit when there are 3 people. I asked for a coke and was told they only had pepsi. Ice cream was non existent, and when I found it, they gave me ben and jerries, the little tub which normally costs like £1.50. I was charged 27 euros for 3 tiny old ice creams. We did not have dinner once at any restaurant in the hotel as they were fully booked before we even arrived. They make it seem like the restaurants are really busy when in fact most of them are closed and only open 2 days a week. We were advised to travel 10 mins to nearest town to find food. Don’t even get me started on the beach. To get to it you have to use the rock stairs of hell. Killed me getting down and destroyed me getting back up. So bad we did not go to the beach again. The beach was not private either. All sorts of locals and everyone was there. Pools were freezing and poolside service was shockingly poor. I saw a waiter by the pool on my 2nd day only and I was shocked to know they had poolside service as it seemed like they did not up till then. In Dubai everyone gets a button - you need something you press it. So I learned there is no such thing as 5 star in Tenerife. 5 star prices but no 5 star service. They just give you stuff you get elsewhere but charge you 4 to 5 times more, plus service charge on top. When I went to Dubai and Asia, the 5 star there was wow.

Absolutely Spectacular
The Ritz-Carlton, Tenerife is absolutely spectacular — a true 10 out of 5 stars experience. The breakfast buffet alone deserves its own award: endless variety, impeccable quality, and pure indulgence every morning. The restaurants on the property are just as impressive, each offering world-class dining with unforgettable flavors and service. The rooms are spotless, luxurious, and feel like a serene retreat after a day in paradise. The beach service is flawless — attentive without being intrusive — and the setting itself is breathtaking, filled with beauty, care, and a genuine sense of luxury everywhere you turn. The koi fish ponds add a charming and peaceful touch to the already gorgeous grounds. One thing to note: if you’re traveling with kids, the kids club isn’t the strongest part of the resort — it’s okay, but not on par with everything else. I wouldn’t rely on it for full-time entertainment. Otherwise, this was an outstanding stay in every way. Highly recommend

Excellent resort
I was here for the Easter break, we had taken a total of three rooms for five days. The resort is very nice, with interesting architecture and very spacious. The rooms are very large, with balconies. We had a pool view. The hotel has several pools, which were always full because of the vacation. There is also a beach to which you can go by train, where there are umbrellas and sunbeds. The beach also has a section for locals and it was sometimes overcrowded. The breakfast was nice and rich, but it was also a big madhouse because of the thousands of small children. There are also several restaurants, all of which are good, but quite expensive and require a reservation. The hotel is quite remote on the oceanfront and it's nice to have a rental car. The weather in mid-April was nice for a beach, but the ocean water was a bit cold.

Great help after an accident (tendon of Achilles broke)
I had an accident (Achilles tendon broke) during my vacation. The team of Abama have been most helpful accommodating as best they could with the situation. I was offered a cabby (free of charge), rides and the children club took care of our elder daughter. The hotel also had a wheel chair and I got crutches. The medication was picked up from the pharmacy without having to go myself. This courtesy in a very difficult situation showed me why indeed this hotel deserves a 10/10 rating and is a reason to pick it in the first place! Thank you all…

Title: Beautiful property, but disappointed by lack of transparency and follow-through
TLDR - If you stay here, get every detail in writing. Don’t rely on verbal confirmations from staff. My family and I recently stayed at The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama from January 17–20, 2025. The resort itself is stunning, with beautiful views and generally attentive staff. We truly enjoyed the setting, the amenities, and the overall experience while on the property. However, I was very disappointed with how the hotel handled billing and communication after our stay. Prior to arrival, I confirmed with the hotel (via the Marriott app) that our room included a sofa bed for our young daughter. Upon check-in, I reiterated this with the porter, who acknowledged the request and said housekeeping would take care of it. Instead, when we returned to the room after turndown service, we found a rollaway bed had been placed—without any mention that this would incur an extra charge. Only after the stay did I realize I had been charged nearly €187 for the additional bed over two nights. I would have gladly had my daughter sleep on the sofa if I'd known. I contacted the hotel multiple times to address this, and although they initially offered a partial goodwill gesture, they stopped replying entirely when I requested a fairer resolution. Additionally, at check-in I was told that breakfast was complimentary for my family due to my Titanium status. Despite that, I was later charged for my daughter’s breakfast—even though the staff clearly saw all three of us present at check-in when the benefit was confirmed. I’ve stayed at many Ritz-Carlton properties and have always appreciated the high level of service and professionalism. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling undervalued as a loyal guest. I would encourage future visitors to be very clear and get any service confirmations in writing to avoid unexpected charges.
