  Perfect place for a family holiday! Staff are absolutely lovely!

  We recently stayed here for 5 nights on our first family holiday. It was excellent and the staff were phenomenal. We had our 5 month old son with us and it’s the perfect place for children. Restaurants are great, hotel grounds are amazing and the whole place is just brilliant. One of the staff called Nico was lovely and extra helpful throughout as was every member of staff. I’d suggest booking the retreat upgrade as this includes all your drinks and lunch time food every day. A beautiful place to stay overall, the rooms are super spacious too.

  Amazing Resort Property

  This Ritz is exceptional in most ways! From the start of the stay through the end they make Bonvoy elites feel valued. The complimentary breakfast buffet is amazing and has everything you could want. I was upgraded as a Titanium (and FHR) booking multiple categories from the base resort view room to a VERY spacious resort view 1 bedroom suite. The deck was huge! The pool is really nice and heated. Overall the property is really well kept and I would love to come back!

  A magical anniversary getaway

  We stayed at Abama for our 15-year wedding anniversary. Drawn to the island for its wines, we found it far from the winemaking areas that we were most interested in visiting - however, the drive around the island was stunning and we enjoyed the privacy of the resort. The staff was universally helpful and friendly. The grounds were immaculate and we loved the private feel of the beach, even though it was a public beach. We tried almost all of the restaurants, and never had a bad meal. We appreciated the breakfast, which was included, and the focus on local fruits and produce. We would love to revisit this resort.

  Total lack of maintenance. Dirty, tired hotel. Management don't care.

  Poor maintenance, tired and dirty hotel. Obvious lack of repair and maintenance issues, closed pool areas (main pool is not heated) broken tiles and broken lighting in common areas. Room was a joke, paint peeling off walls, broken tiles (see pics). Complained to the manager, Carmen. She smiled and said thanks for letting me know. No offer to change room or fix the damage, no solution offered, she just didn't care. Breakfast was the worst, overcrowded room with 15 min wait to sit down. Dirty tables, dirty floors and walls. Poor breakfast selection compared to other 4 star hotels. Beach is a public beach which graffiti on the walls. Hotel makes no effort to paint over graffiti or make the area nice. Hotel cable car has been broken for years. This hotel is not 5*. There is better available in Tenerife. We stayed at Jardin de Navaria which was superior in every way, better pool and better food. Don't waste your money on this dirty and tired hotel

  Rather disappointed, but we’ll live

  Apart from the striking, MC Escher-like architecture of the main hotel, not much made an impression on us during our 5 night stay. And although striking, that architecture seems to hamper the amazing coastal vista from virtually every room and communal area in the main hotel! The lift to the beach area remains out of order, with no evidence of any work being undertaken. Various parts of the beach club (eg showers, jetty wall) have bits of red and white crime scene tape tied around them, assumed to indicate they are out of order or unsafe to walk on. In the main hotel, some of the courtyard ponds are partially drained or clogged with weeds. Communal areas in the hotel are often dated or even scruffy. The capacious reception area has been turned into a lounge bar, which has the acoustics and atmosphere of a local authority leisure centre. We couldn’t find any other open bar for a quiet drink during our stay. The room was clean and spacious. Apart from the minibar and espresso, the minibar was entirely chargeable and at eye-watering rates (which weren’t displayed in-room). Service from some individuals was often good, but the recurring theme is of an impersonal and formulaic approach - not unusual in a chain group hotel of this size I guess. To echo many others here - this is definitely a family friendly resort. There is a quieter zone next to the main breakfast zoo, but it’s not obvious so do ask. The on-site restaurants are eye-wateringly over-priced - outrageous the mediocre quality and portion size. And there is really no range in this - don’t assume you’ll save by spending a night or two in the Italian having pizza and pasta - it is extortionate too. Eat out. The hotel seems busy for the time of year, and presumably is generating substantial revenue. The impression is that this is all being extracted as profit and very little spent on innovation or improvement to the fabric of the hotel. This is our first visit to a Ritz-Carlton, and we are likely to avoid the chain generally now. Very poor value, and not a 5* experience in any element.
