    It’s a decent place . Decor updated needed soon.

    A little old school but decent. It’s needing a little upgrade. Not to change the vibe but to polish things up a little bit more. Made to look cleaner, fresher. Staff was pleasant; it was a nice stay overall. I wouldn’t mind staying here again only thing that’s a little discouraging is the price.

    Birthday Get Away

    My wife grew up with her family vacationing at the Kahala. Decided to visit revisit as we also like the hotel. After 60 years it still delivers a very relaxing vacation 15 minutes from Waikiki. Spacious rooms decorated Aloha style. They have a friendly well trained staff to attend to every detail. Beautiful beach walkable close to a mile long and a beach staff to set up lounge chairs and umbrellas.

    Great hotel option away fromt he bustle of Waikiki - great family friendly beach

    My partner and I stayed at the Kahala for 2 nights recently for a short stop for a nearby business meeting before heading on to Kauai. I was pleased with our stay and would definitely visit again if our travels invovlve a stop in Honolulu. I picked this property because it is distant from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki…while the hotels there are great I find that exiting into the craziness of the area makes me feel like I’m in Las Vegas (not what I at least desire). The Kahala in comparison is located in a residential neighborhood and is quite peaceful. There’s a beach that feels quite private (and uncrowded at least in March). There’s a break in the water that creates a very nice calm beach experience that I think would be ideal for families with young kids (and lap swimmers). We rented an ocean front room that opened directly on the area near the beach with our own lounge chairs - quite a nice experience. Service was great by all the staff that we interacted with. Again a great experience. Why only 4 stars? Several reasons - the property itself is somewhat dated as other reviewers have stated - mostly not in a bad way. Our room was very well appointed but some of the furnishings showed a bit of their age. The food service was mixed - the buffet breakfast was plentiful but not exactly top tier in execution. We had lunch at the beach front cafe which we found just OK. We did have dinner though twice at the on property italian restaurant - Arancino which was excellent. It turns out that it’s a “tenant” and not operated by the restaurant - I’d recommend it for the food. As others have noted though that the only view if you choose outside dining is of the driveway/hotel entrance - we choose indoor tables.

    Beach Bag stolen and lack of customer service!

    I have stayed at The Kahala multiple times over the past five or so years. Each year, we made it a point to spend one or two nights at the resort because we truly enjoyed our experience. However, after our most recent stay, we have decided that we will never return. On our final day during our last visit, we were enjoying some time at the beach. I went up to prepare our luggage, while my husband stayed behind to rinse off our younger child. He placed our beach bag on top of the towel return bin and went to wash up. When he returned, the bag was gone. Our bag was sentimental because it was a gift but included our AirPods, sunglasses and other valuables. What was truly disappointing was not just that our bag was stolen right under our noses, but the utter lack of customer service we encountered afterward. There were no cameras in the area, and when we filed a report, we never heard back. When we requested to speak with a manager, no one even took the time to address our concerns. There was no follow-up, no effort to resolve the situation—just a complete lack of care. The decline in service at The Kahala has been evident, and as a result, we have lost all loyalty to the resort. We’ve shared our experience with our friends and family and have strongly advised them to avoid this place. Sadly, it has clearly gone downhill since our earlier visits.

    Colonial Architecture with a Moder twist

    Great customer service My wife and I stayed in room 707 The room and the entire hotel met all our expectations and more The purpose of our visit was to celebrate my wife’s sister and brother in laws Golden wedding anniversary They got married here on the 5th February 50 years ago I would highly recommend this hotel
