One of the best hotel hotels I’ve ever stayed in

Don’t even waste your time with any other hotel in the Edinburgh area, because this hotel is absolutely the best hotel that we have stayed in during our UK visit. From the service, to the breakfast, the drinks, the room and the bathroom…..the entire experience was unbeatable. We will return in the spring and this is the place I’m staying. No doubt about it.

A superb festive stay at The Caledonian!

We enjoyed a magnificent 3 night stay at the Caledonian hotel in Edinburgh. This was booked as a special festive break as a family and we enjoyed every single minute of our stay! From the moment we arrived we were thoroughly looked after by Princess on front of House. She ensured we were checked in and settled and looked after us throughout our stay. All the staff throughout our stay were excellent. So friendly and accommodating to our every need. Our bedroom was a very generous size with two king size beds and a small bed for our youngest son (we are a family of 5) There was a spacious entrance hall to house coats and suitcases along with generous wardrobes. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with lovely products and fresh towels and had a heated towel radiator. There was a large variety of teas, hot chocolate and a coffee machine in the room. The breakfast and bar area were beautiful and such a tranquil area to relax and settle in. The spa facilities were immaculate, our children loved the swimming pool and jacuzzi! We enjoyed a lovely breakfast which was so fresh and of the highest quality with plenty of buffet items available as well as the option to order from a menu. The pistachio crossiant is out of this world and a definite must!! The hotel itself is in a great central location and a short walk from the Christmas markets and amusements, shops, restaurants and bars and then further up the hill you can visit the old town and castle. We enjoyed everything about our stay. It was such a magical time to visit with all the festive attractions. We can’t wait to go back again! Thank you again Caledonian!!

    Fabulous afternoon tea1

Festive Afternoon tea was fabulous. Great selection of sandwiches, cakes and pastries. Staff were very attentive, especially Iona, her friendly approach and customer service was first class. This will be a Christmas tradition going forward, well worth a visit.

    Perfect 2 night stay

Lovely friendly helpful staff, and this is without exception from reception, conceirge, waiters, bar, cleaning staff. One more helpful than the next. Congratulations to all on this. Made for a loveky break. This is an unique hotel .... spotless, comfortable beds, atmospheric...walking distance of all the tourist spots. Added bonus swim, jacuzzi after all the walking. Arran product in Bathrooms. Bespoke stained glass panels with family crests on windows in the expressive wooden stairwell. Beautiful Christmas decorations throughout the bottom floor and a large selection to choose from at the breakfast menu. The interior alone is worth a visit on the ground floor, with a building within a building! Loved the added touch of the shoe polishing machine on each floor. Only two small tiny details ... would recommend update tothe stairwell to the lower floor bathroom ... very worn and unloved compared to the rest of the hotel. Found for such a magnificent hotels, the rooms a bit bland in atmosphere (but maybe this is because the rest is so spectacular).

    Would go back every year

We booked this last minute for our honeymoon. We weren’t sure what to expect, but the hotel upgraded our room to a castle view and we were blown away by how incredible it was. The room has recently been refurbished and has wonderful views over the city. We didn’t add breakfast to our booking as it was expensive, but we went some mornings to order particular items which was much more cost effective. All staff were so kind and helpful, and the concierge team had great recommendations.
