Do not be put off after reading earlier reviews. Read this honest review.
As a couple we had a two week stay in a preferred swim out ocean view room. We were a little apprehensive about the hotel due to the inconsistent reviews that had already been posted. However, you can only speak as you find. So, having returned to the UK we can share our experience. 1. The grounds are impeccable and beautifully manicured. The ground staff are working constantly to keep up these amazing standards. 2. The swim out preferred king, room 1111, was clean and tidy with the beds being made up every day and the mini bar stocked each day as well. Yes, the room was a little worn around the edges but nothing as bad as some earlier reviews suggested. The only downside was that the terrace and swim out didn’t get a lot sun. Overall, excellent accommodation. 3. As preferred guests we were lucky enough to have a butler service. Kenroy and Duran, aka ‘Batman and Robin’, were absolutely brilliant and nothing was too much trouble for these guys. They arranged dinner reservations, sorted beach sun beds and coolers each day and arranged for trips outside of the resort. The boys left us with cheese and biscuits and bottles of wine in the room as well as a fantastic decorated hot tub on valentines. We cannot speak highly enough about these young men and the high standards they maintain. Only downside is that Duran is a Liverpool fan. Enough said! 4. The location of the hotel gives amazing views of the bay with plenty of wildlife. Pelicans and Frigate birds being regular visitors. 5. We were lucky enough to get to eat in all of the restaurants on the resort and would recommend both Bordeaux and Portofino. Bookings do need to be made otherwise you will queue on a first come first served basis which did cause frustration with some guests. Do try to get over to Altitude which is a rooftop restaurant overlooking the bay in the sister resort at Breathless. 6. Do get out of the resort to take in the real Jamaica. We went on arranged excursions to Kingston where we visited the Bob Marley museum. We did a river safari and a visit to the Appleton Estate rum distillery. The beach at Negril was amazing. Ricks cafe in Negril is very commercial but worth a visit to see the cliff diving. The bird sanctuary about 20 minutes from the resort where you can see and feed humming birds was just amazing. Downsides are very few but here they are. 1. You will have seen from earlier reviews about the Becks seed company delegations from the USA, who were there while we were. In some areas you did feel like you were intruding on their events even though we were full paying guests, and this made some areas really busy, especially around the pools and in the restaurants, so if you weren’t able to make restaurant bookings the wait was long 2. The price of taxis and tours is just crazy. A round trip of about 45 minutes will cost $100. You can negotiate with the driver but don’t expect too much leeway. Do not be put off from earlier reviews, the hotel and staff are excellent. We will be back. Paul and Sarah, Dorset.

Everything was great (especially the service)
The entire resort is amazing — delicious food, fun drinks, and incredible views. It never gets old. For my group, one of the highlights of the trip was Kenton, our butler. He was so awesome — welcoming, funny, and so helpful. He helped us with things we didn’t even think of, and always with an amazing attitude. Never felt like we were bothering him and he took care of everything in a snap. If we are able to come back we will be requesting him for sure. The rest of the staff was also very fun and helpful, particularly Betty! Room was gorgeous. Grounds were well kept. Everything was top-notch.

Beautiful Stay - Kenton is the man
Second time visiting a Secrets location and did not disappoint. In both my stays the service has been pretty top notch. Most service members are extremely friendly, we had the master suites which also came with butler service from Kenton and Betty who were the best. Betty had a couple days off and was great, but we mostly saw Kenton who really took our trip up a notch getting us whatever we needed - he really made the stay for us. The resort itself is great, beautiful spot in Montego Bay with ocean and mountain views around the island. The beach, pools, and amenities are immaculate and clean. Oceana’s kitchen was slow both times, so I’d recommend any of the other restaurants as most others have steak and seafood options as well which were just as good. The food in general is better than the typical all inclusive, and the buffet and/or room service is great for breakfast. You also have access to the sister properties nearby, rooftop pool/bar over at Breathless is one of the best views you will ever see. I’d highly recommend this location, I’ve been to another location as well without the butler service and also had a great time.

My Fabulous experience!
The overall experience was great! I travel to Jamaica every year in February for my birthday, but to a different Resort for a different experience. Even though sunshine and warm weather in February are a win, this experience of hospitality was an experience that made this trip more than pleasant! I was fortunate to meet Heidy Collado, the 'Director of Rooms Division'. There are so many superlatives that you could use to describe her, but you would have to meet her in person to understand!!! I have a career of being around all types of people and Heidy is a natural!!! Many people in life can work hard and be great, but some are simply born with a gift! I want to emphasize that Heidy and her staff are worthy of an 11 out of 10 rating as being beyond great, and I hope that many read this message and seek to reach out to her if you ever visit this Resort or any affiliate. Thank you so very much.

Pleasant hotel. Great food. Poolside facilities and service was poor.
A pleasant hotel with reasonable service. The highlight of this facility is the choice and quality of food available through several themes restaurants. We had amazing food throughout our stay. We stayed in a preferred room at the St James part of the hotel. The room was kept really clean and minibar well maintained with soft drinks and beer. It was also supposed to have rum but after the first quarter bottle in stock on arrival this was never replenished. Facilities at the poolside are poorly managed. There is a shortage of sunbeds and these were reserved with towels by the early birds. All the loungers would be reserved like this even though loads lay empty for most of the day. The hotel could improve this by removing towels after 2 hours to let others use the facilities. We booked a cabana for 3 days of our stay which at least gave us a guaranteed place albeit for €110 a day. Service at these was terrible for 2 of the 3 days with only one drink served across the course of a morning. The spa and hydrotherapy pool is excellent and well worth a visit. The staff in the restaurants were very attentive. Not so much the bar tenders. We were told our all inclusive price included tips but clearly small bill tips are expected at the bars if you want to have any decent service. The bars often ran out of ingredients for cocktails and on our last night the piano bar even ran out of glasses - we left after waiting 20 mins at the bar. The hospitality staff at the St James lobby and lounge area were ok but no smiles and looked like they were fed up and not really bothered about serving guests which was a shame as the staff overall were excellent. Checkout was utter chaos - we ended up lugging our own luggage to our private transfer. Overall a nice hotel
