    The perfect vacation for couples

Secrets Tulum was an incredible, relaxing vacation! The resort is beautiful and never felt crowded because there are so many pool/dining areas. The beach club was so gorgeous and only a short shuttle away from the hotel. We enjoyed getting to ride through the streets of Tulum to get there, so don't be discouraged by the short drive. Definitely best for a relaxing couples vacation and not for partying. The staff was incredible, room was great and overall an amazing experience. We paid for the preferred club level and felt it was totally worth it for the elevated dining and service. Also, don't miss out on hydrotherapy at the spa!

    our holiday was completely ruined

If you want to get a good rest and service from your vacation, think 100 times before going to this hotel. We bought a vacation at the Secret Tulum Resort and Beach Club from December 12 to 24, 2024. From the first minutes of our stay at the hotel, we were disappointed. 1. The appearance of the reception is in no way similar to any hotel of the Secret system. We have been to many hotels of this system (Maroma, Akumal and Moxche) and have never been disappointed No one offered a welcome drink, did not give a towel to wipe our hands. Everything looked like we came to a 3-star hotel. 2. Upon entering the room, we found that the mosquito net on the door was broken. We told the workers, they promised that they would fix it. Today is the third day and only today, after several times of our appeal with this problem, they fixed it. 3. Now about the food. The food is terrible. The fruit is rotten. All the food is in pots that are heated on alcohol burners. Yesterday at lunch at the buffet we asked to fry a piece of meat for us, we asked to add salt and pepper to it, to which we were told that they did not have pepper. The meat was not marinated in any way and there was not even pepper to give it any flavor. The meat was tasteless, tough. It was impossible to eat it. At dinner we were at a steakhouse restaurant. First we waited in line to enter the restaurant for 1 hour and 20 minutes. We went in and waited another hour for them to bring us bread. The waiter never came up to us and did not ask if we wanted anything (a cocktail, juice, etc.). We have never encountered such service in hotels of the Secret system. We ordered a T-bone and a ribeye steak. The steaks were very thin, of an incomprehensible color and with some kind of distinct smell. The smell does not at all resemble grilled meat. In previous hotels of the Secret chain, this has never happened. 4. The show, disco and evening entertainment are broadcast right here, where the reception is located. This is very strange, since this is a place where people are constantly passing in one direction or another. 5. The beach club is located 20 minutes away from the hotel. The bus runs every hour and a half. If you did not arrive on the first bus, then there is nothing to do there, since there is no place where you can be, all the beach beds are occupied, a very, very small relaxation area. 6 . The service in the bar can be called absent. They make drinks just somehow. The bartender does not pay attention to you at all when you approach. 7. There is not a single waiter to get a drink either in the pool or in the lobby area. The beach beds near the pool are very very low, if this person is old, he will have a big problem getting up from them. In the evening, there are only 3 restaurants open, and on Friday only one was open. You can't call these restaurants a la carte, because people come in beach flip-flops and shorts, although there is a dress code, so it resembles a cheap cafe, not an evening restaurant. The floors in the room are all in some kind of stains and it seems that they are dirty all the time. We just don't understand how this hotel can be called a secret, since there is not a single position here related to the secret of the chain of other hotels. We recommend everyone who wants to get good service from their vacation to think a hundred times before visiting this hotel. And for your information - the depth of the pool in the rooms with access to the pool is a maximum of 90 cm. The same is true for the pools on the roof. The depth of the large pool is 1.2 m. We were forced to buy another hotel and move out of this hotel earlier, on December 17. We are very sorry for the time we spent at this hotel.

    Disappointed

I am afraid this resort is not what we expected for a high rated secrets and will not visit again. First of all the sand. They have tried to create a beach like atmosphere resulting in sand everywhere. Even in the lobby. We left a towel on the floor beside us to clean our feet to get into bed. There is not the nice ceramic shiny floors we expected. Don’t plan on hanging out in the lobby as the chairs are awful and again in the sand. There is no buffet open for supper. We found jasmine was the best restaurant to dine at. We went to the olio once. The blue water was a very nice atmosphere but my husband was bit by ants. There are ants in the sand at some of the poolside chairs also The concierge staff were good to us. And the workers at jasmine. The place is beautiful. Entertainment was great if you play bingo, gamble, play trivia and poker. We only had 2 nights to actually sit back and enjoy the evening. Overall I was glad we only booked 10 days and not the usual 2 weeks.

Restaurants closed due to low occupancy and management did nothing because it stated on the website.

This place feels like a scam, we checked in but was not told that only two out of ten restaurants that were advertised were opened for dinner. Two staffs told us it was because one of the kitchen is out of service, when we complained to the front desk the front desk manager Diego told me there’s nothing he can do because the hotel can close any restaurants due to low occupancy. So it was a lied. As expected, one of the better restaurants that was opened had a long wait of over an hour and the Buffet restaurants was moved to the meeting room and made us seat at a big round table with strangers. We didn’t pay over $600 for a cafeteria experience. The beach was 20 min shuttle away and the shuttle is every hour. How inconvenient. We gave in and waited an hour at the steak restaurant, but their food quality was so bad, same as breakfast buffet, the wine was bad, cocktail was watered down and tasted bad. Also horrible service, everyone is in a bad mood. Also the customer quality is mediocre, it’s so loud everywhere at the hotel. I will not be returning to any secrets hotels in the future.

First and Last Visit to Secrets

This was my first time staying at a Secrets resort, and unfortunately, it will be my last. The hotel is advertised as a 5-star hotel, but it fell significantly short in terms of service and overall quality. It simply was not worth the money and I question how they obtain that rating. I stayed in one of their premier suites, and while the room itself was beautiful, the amenities were lacking. There were no snacks provided in the room, only beer and juice in the fridge, and no thoughtful extras that one would expect from a high-end resort. The food was a major disappointment. It reminded me of poor wedding reception catering—dry, bland, and completely unappealing. It was so underwhelming that we ended up leaving the resort to dine off-site. On a positive note, the beach club was a highlight of our stay. We upgraded to a cabana, which included higher-end liquor or champagne, and the service there was excellent. However, it’s frustrating that the only way to experience decent service was to pay extra. The grotto was another nice feature, but once again, we only received good service after upgrading to a cabana for an additional charge. One of the biggest frustrations was the staff’s inattentiveness, particularly in the lobby and concierge areas. Staff members were often seen on their phones, ignoring guests who needed assistance. Even when I requested services during the concierge’s check-in calls, those requests were never fulfilled. Another issue was the lack of clear maps and signage around the resort, making navigation a challenge. This is something that should be addressed to improve the guest experience. While the beach club and cabana upgrade were enjoyable, the poor food, inattentive staff, and lack of standard amenities made this stay far from the 5-star experience promised. Considering the price point for the premier suites, this resort was simply not worth the money, and I would not recommend staying here if you are looking for a luxury experience.
