Feb 22, 2025Secrets, not worth the hype.
I would say the tipping experience got on my nerves. Having to tip after each drink become weary. Why not just let people leave an envelope at the end of the trip with money in it. Having to remember to take cash with you everywhere is a pain, especially on a pool/beach holiday. Most of the staff didn't wait for a tip but a couple made it obvious they wanted one. 2-3 dollars per drink became expansive on a n all inclusive holiday. 10-15 dollars per meal also adds to the bill. The hotel itself is up for a reverb and will surely be nicer after that. I am not sure what the Preferred club included as the improved mini bar was still very basic. the exclusive bar felt like a waiting area and included the reception area. The restaurants are ok but a few times a week they have main event meals around the pool. They are basically big buffet meals and the restaurants in that area are closed. I went to eat in restaurants not eat buffet food. This limited your availability to enjoy each restaurant. The night we went to try the French one it was closed. Not sure why. Over all i wouldn't go again. I will however go back to Mexico as my previous trip to a different chain of hotels was excellent.

Feb 22, 2025Excellent experience but would think twice about returning.
My wife and I really enjoyed our 10 day stay at Secrets Playa Mujeures (Preferred Club) but I would have to think twice about returning. Quickly, the food was good to excellent and they were very aware of allergies and ALWAYS asked about them and made sure we didn’t order anything that could have been an issue, the rooms were clean and comfortable but need renovating which is happening later this year, front of house staff had an excellent command of English which was great because we don’t speak Spanish, Servers were always friendly and attentive, Beach was amazing and Bali beds were great for Preferred Club, only one large pool which we found to be overcrowded and loud. The reason we gave it 5 out of 5 but would have to think twice about going back is because this resort caters to very large groups (golf, weddings, conventions) and place their functions (dinners etc) around the pool which is not a big area so it seems to take over in the evenings and can be loud especially the weddings which can be happening right outside your room if you are in a Preferred Club room. We don’t fault them for having large groups but they seem to take over the resort.

Friend getaway
Excellent pool and seaside area. The service was amazing and we really enjoyed our time there. I went with friends and I would go back. They only difference is that I did not feel the swim up rooms were worth it. The water was cold and very shaded so no sun really. I think that the poolside or seaside would have been better. The room was very nice. My friends and I had a wonderfully relaxing time.

Feb 19, 2025Do NOT go to Secrets Playa Mujeres until after the renovation...
The food was horrible. Beef was poor quality, and everything was overcooked to point it was simply not edible. There is no food service from the beach lounge chairs. As a VIP guest I was supposed to have alcohol and snacks in my room. There was none. The staff gave me a hard time when I tried to convert dollars into pesos so I could tip staff. The manager was resistant to me providing feedback but eventually met me to talk. The beds and pillows were like concrete. They are closing the resort in April to remodel. You can tell they didn't care and were waiting to shut down. I hope they fix things when they reopen, or they are simply putting lipstick on a pig...

Feb 19, 2025Wonderful time in a beautiful, relaxing all-inclusive resort.
Beautiful, relaxing resort with helpful, caring staff. The Spa is incredible. The golf course was very enjoyable. The beach was beautiful and uncrowded. The pool was great, except people would snap up deck chairs at sunrise, even if they were only using them for an hour or two. Sometimes it was difficult finding a seat. The restaurants were world class. We had a great time. Word of warning: Do not accept an invitation to sit through an Unlimited Vacation Club membership presentation. Whatever they offer you to sit through this high pressure pitch is not worth it.
- AdvisoryStudent Groups (Spring Breakers) are not permitted at Hotel. A student group consist of those that travel without parent supervision or a responsible adult in each room.
