An Unforgettable Stay at Secrets Maroma: Luxury, Service, and Stunning Views
Check-In: Seamless! We were checked in right in our master suite (Room 1723) by our amazing personal concierge, Guillermo, who took great care of us throughout our stay. Room & Service: Absolutely stunning—large walk-in showers, comfy beds, and a soothing color scheme. Our housekeeper, Elvia, kept our room spotless with daily cleaning. Jobeli, our minibar supplier, made sure we were always stocked with our favorite drinks. Room service takes time, but the app works well, and the pass-through cabinet is a great feature. Beach & Pools: The beach is breathtaking with soft sand and plenty of chairs. We loved that the beach concierge cleaned our sunglasses—a thoughtful touch! Uriel at the beach bar took amazing care of us. One day had heavy seaweed, but it didn’t ruin the experience. The pools were lovely, though a bit chilly at first. We loved the daily ice cream and fruit carts, plus the poolside buffet and grill. Andrés (Andy) from the entertainment team made pool activities extra fun! The chair game is real, so arrive early for a good spot. Weather: Nearly perfect! One short evening rain shower, but covered walkways make it easy to stay dry. Service: Overall fantastic! The staff go above and beyond. We had one minor issue requesting an umbrella, but Guillermo resolved it quickly. Dining: The restaurants were great, with minimal wait times (never more than 20 minutes). We loved the nightly poolside dinner events. Spa: We had tension and relaxation massages plus fish therapy—all wonderful! Hydrotherapy was decent but not the best we’ve had. Huge thanks to Miriam and Dany, who took great care of us. Preferred Club: A bit confusing, as the restaurant and Preferred area were combined, making it feel awkward to grab drinks/snacks. Activities & Entertainment: So many options! Mini golf, ping pong, pool volleyball (our favorite!), and a great kayak tour. The entertainment team was fantastic, especially Andrés (Andy), who made activities fun. Some activities overlapped, so staggering schedules would help. The nightly shows were great, featuring a lot of classic music. Silent Disco was fun but started too late. Desires also opened late, so we didn’t make it there often. Gym: Brand-new equipment and a staff member always present—huge plus! UVC & Excursions: We upgraded to Impressions Black and got a private yacht day, which was incredible! However, some requests (like a Cubano for my husband) were denied. Our cenote tour was a blast, with each cenote offering something unique. The private yacht to Isla Mujeres was absolutely stunning. Romantic Dinners: We did two—one poolside at Onyx (great menu options from Seaside Grill & Oceana) and one beachfront at the Presidential Cabana (set menu, but fantastic). Check-Out: We opted for the main lobby over the Preferred side, as it wasn’t clear where to check out. Final Thoughts: This was an amazing trip and the perfect way to celebrate our 35th birthdays! Special thanks to Guillermo, Uriel, Andrés (Andy), Miriam, Dany, Elvia, and Jobeli for making our stay extra special!

First time, wish we stayed longer!
We came for a long weekend for a friend's wedding, and first off, this was the most breathtaking venue I've ever seen for a wedding. The beach and the ocean are a GORGEOUS backdrop, and the area for the reception was just STUNNING. This was also my first all-inclusive experience, and it was amazing. But what really put this place over the top was the staff. We had several of the same waiters and servers on multiple occasions, and they made a big effort to learn our names, and get to know us. I don't drink alcohol, and Hugo made an actual note, and would bring me non-alcoholic drinks. He was also great at remembering what others preferred to drink, and could anticipate our needs with a look in his eye. Hugo was probably our favorite, but every staff member was so accommodating! The tub in the room was great and filled up much quicker than I anticipated. We didn't have a room with pool access, but honestly I enjoyed a soak in the tub each night. It did take a while to drain though. I also hit the jets by mistake when the water level wasn't high enough and water shot everywhere and the floor was pretty wet.. so careful of that. They also offered different types of pillows for your stay through the in-room service ipad thing. I tried a couple, which was fun. I think my favorite part of the room had to be the room service cubby. If your "do not disturb" light is on, they'll leave your room service order in a little cubby next to your door, so you don't have to worry about getting fully presentable or opening the door. An introvert's dream! Restaurants were alright in terms of food. I wouldn't call it the best food I've ever had, but it was all decent and included in the price. Highly recommend the orange juice, and the churros for breakfast room service. I also recommend, if you're dining with a large group (think +5 or 6 people), to try and get a table before 7pm, because the wait times at night can be LONG. We also got to enjoy a cultural show with food that was pretty good. A little loud, but it was an enjoyable show. Since we were there for the wedding, I didn't get to do all the activities I wanted to, opting to spend time with the friends who were also there, but we enjoyed the ones we did do, including archery (so cool!) and paddleboard strength/yoga. Shout out to the entertainment staff: Natalie, Javier, and Sebastian. They were all so helpful, friendly, and welcoming. We had a blast and plenty of laughs. I did miss out on some of the live shows and the karaoke party, which I was bummed about. We were only there for a few nights, and I was exhausted from real life, so I ended up sleeping through breakfast a couple mornings and missing out on some activities. I do think it would be great to have more visible advertisements of the activities, since I saw most of them through our in-room ipad, but others in our group had no idea what else was offered. Overall, a great stay. I highly recommend it, and I'm grateful our friends got married there. It was exactly the trip we needed, and the weather was amazing for a short getaway from our regular dreary January.

2nd visit—highly recommended!
This was our 2nd visit to Secrets Maroma and it was fantastic! The Bali beach beds were amazing and the service was excellent. Our concierge and wait staff were great. Shout out to Mauricio, Wilber and all the great team on the beach. Service around the resort was impeccable! Our room concierge, Marcelo, was so helpful and made our stay so much better! Housekeeping was on top of it everyday and kept our room looking great. The food was also fantastic. For dinner, we ate at the Mexican night, Italian restaurant, Mexican restaurant, seaside steak grill and Teppanyaki grill. All great options with really attentive staff. Highly highly recommend a trip to Secrets Maroma!

Secrets Maroma – A Luxurious and Worthwhile Escape
From March 18-25, 2025, we had the pleasure of staying at Secrets Maroma in Mexico, and let me start by saying—this is the nicest resort we have ever stayed at. The big question: Do you get what you pay for? The short answer: Absolutely. The Little Things Matter What truly sets this resort apart are the small, thoughtful touches. The ice cream cart, fruit cart, wood-fired pizza, and daily lunch grilled by the pool add a level of convenience and indulgence that make lounging by the beach or pool even better. The variety of activities is also impressive, and while we are more of the “sit by the pool and do nothing” type, we appreciated the friendly invitations to join in without any pressure. The guacamole-making class and Spanish lesson were both fun and worthwhile experiences. Service & Atmosphere The service was phenomenal—every staff member genuinely wanted to take care of us. One standout feature that we haven’t experienced at other resorts was the twice-daily room cleaning. In addition to standard housekeeping, the resort provides a nightly turndown service, which we didn’t think we needed but ended up loving. Coming back after dinner to a refreshed room, neatly made bed, and little thoughtful touches made the stay feel even more luxurious. Food & Drinks Let’s be real—if you’re expecting Michelin-starred, NYC-level dining, this might not be it. But for an all-inclusive, the food was top-notch. Every meal was enjoyable, with plenty of variety. The daily grilled lunch by the pool was a fantastic touch, offering fresh, flavorful options without having to leave the sun and relaxation. One of our favorite perks? Being able to order food anywhere by the pool or beach. Usually, we’re used to being able to order drinks, but something about having freshly cooked French fries delivered right to our beach chair was just next-level. The drinks were also great—if you like sweet and coconut flavors, I highly recommend the Scooby Doo shot (YUM). I’m a big fan of espresso martinis, and while they were hit or miss, they were still enjoyable. The (Minor) Downsides & A Possible Solution The one issue that stood out: pool chair availability. Chairs get taken early—no big deal for early risers like me, but for those who like to sleep in, it’s a major downside. The resort could definitely benefit from more pool space. One idea? Expanding the pool closest to the beach. This would create a win-win situation—with pool views on one side and beach views on the other, it would give guests the best of both worlds. Plus, on days when sargassum (seaweed) is heavy, guests could still enjoy the ocean breeze and stunning scenery without the worry of swimming in the sea. Final Thoughts At the end of the day, everyone vacations differently, and this is just my opinion—so no offense meant! That said, Secrets Maroma is the best resort we have stayed at, and we will absolutely be back. If you’re looking for a high-end, relaxing getaway with excellent service, great food, and a beautiful setting, this is the place to be.
