May 03, 2025A Relaxing, Thoughtful, and Memorable Stay – Secrets Akumal Has It All!
We just returned from a wonderful stay at Secrets Akumal, and we can confidently say it’s the first resort in Mexico we would recommend and actually want to return to—and we’ve visited the Caribbean and Mexico more than five times! From the moment we arrived, the staff went out of their way to ensure guests were comfortable and cared for. On most afternoons, we were greeted poolside with cold towels to beat the heat, and even got our sunglasses cleaned as they were being handed out—small touches that made a big impression. In the afternoon, an ice cream cart made its rounds, which was a fun and refreshing surprise. The resort offers three different pool environments, catering to whatever kind of vibe you're in the mood for: • One pool is quiet and tranquil, perfect for relaxing. • Another plays soft background music with no scheduled activities. • The third is the “activity pool”, with hourly entertainment and music that’s just the right volume—not overwhelming like at some other resorts. Carlos, Armantxa and Lizbeth did a great job with the activities. There was plenty of seating at all the pools and beach areas, and we never had to wake up at dawn just to claim a spot. We also appreciated that if someone reserved a chair and didn’t return within an hour, the staff would free it up for others. Shoutout to Antonio, our favorite poolside concierge—he was always attentive and helpful. The food was excellent with a wide variety of options. Highly recommend visiting Fernando at Himitsu. We typically ate between 6 and 6:30 and never had to wait. The drinks were tasty (maybe not super strong, but definitely enjoyable). For a bit of adventure, we highly recommend the turtle tour. No travel is involved just a short walk to the cove behind the resort. But even if you skip the tour, the resort offers complimentary snorkel gear so you can explore on your own. One note: the resort is fairly large, so it takes a bit to get your bearings. While signage was helpful, navigating was a little tricky at times. Thankfully, the real-time resort app was a lifesaver. It functioned like Google Maps within the resort and included menus, entertainment schedules, spa bookings, and more. Our room—5103 with a swim-up pool—was perfectly located. It was quiet, with no noise from the lobby or nightly entertainment. We did hear a bit of echo from the morning room service trolleys, but nothing that disturbed us. The nightly shows didn’t really draw us in, but we were usually ready for bed by 9:30 anyway. We appreciated that weekday entertainment ended earlier, though the Friday night show at 9:30 was a bit late for those with early travel plans. The lush scenery and abundant wildlife, especially the friendly iguanas near the activity pool, added to the experience. It felt serene and natural—not overly commercialized, which can sometimes be the case with large resort brands. Overall, the vibe, food, staff, and overall atmosphere at Secrets Akumal were top-notch. This resort really does have it all, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return. If you’re looking for a place that combines relaxation, great service, and thoughtful amenities, this is the one.

Vacaciones inolvidables
La estancia en el Secrets Akumal fue genial. Nos encantó el hotel, pero sobre todo las personas que trabajan en él. Nos gustaría dar las gracias a Santiago Manríquez por su ayuda incondicional, a Michelle del Marketing Café por cuidarme tanto cuando estaba enferma, a Karina nuestra conserje por estar pendiente de nosotros, a Paulina y Héctor por hacer una cena inolvidable en el Seaside, y a Mayra y Arantxa por hacer de las animaciones una aventura divertida y cercana. Muchas gracias a todos por vuestro cariño! Volveremos!! 😉

Honeymoon paradise with amazing service
We just got back from our honeymoon and it was more than we could have asked for ! From start to finish we had no complaints, A massive thank you to Ruben the pool concierge for making our holiday so special he went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed we enjoyed our daily chats with him and looked forward to seeing him round the pool , he really stood out for us and we are so grateful for his help service and professionalism. THANK YOU RUBEN The food is amazing here the options are endless! We found it hard to decide everyday what to have because it was all amazing ! We really enjoyed the Baja tacos at sea side grill , also himitsu and Bordeaux were our fave restaurants we went back twice ! We also had included with our room a romantic breakfast on our balcony it was lovely to relax and enjoy some quiet time , the waiter came in and set us up we was so glad to have this service All in all the staff service is incredible the best in any hotel I have ever stayed the pool waiters/ waitresses are so hard working they don’t stop all day and they are so happy and friendly! The rooms are immaculate and beautiful! The pools are incredible with a choice or quite lively and in the middle we tried all pools but the infinity pool was our fave as you us the beautiful view of the beach! The beach was gorgeous white sands and clear water you can’t go wrong with that! The whole resort is beautiful and kept so well . Cocktails were all fantastic I think I went through the whole list and there wasn’t one I didn’t like !! Entertainment was great always something to do live band but the pool every afternoon and in the lobby in the evening , We had the most amazing honeymoon and would definitely come back ! Thank you to everyone at secrets Akumal for making our stay so special

Quelle voyage extraordinaire! Nous étions un groupe de 5 personnes pour fêter l’anniversaire d’une amie. Notre concierge Araceli a fait un travail exceptionnel pour que notre séjour soit mémorable, mission accomplie! La nourriture, la propreté du resort et le service partout (ménage de chambre, restaurant, service au Bali bed) a été au dessus de nos attentes. Des vacances que nous allons nous souvenir longtemps.
