Had a good time at a great beach.
Just returned from 7 days at Sandos Playacar. We stayed oceanfront in the adults section and for the money, it was hard to beat. Great views and a beautiful beach. Food at the two restaurants we visited (Brazilian and Argentinan steakhouses) far outshined the ala carts from other resorts we have been to. Although it would have been nice to have more than burgers and hotdogs for daytime snacks. (No chips and salsa?? Really??). Housekeeping did a wonderful job tyding up the room while we were at the beach each day. And no fighting for loungers either. Plenty for all. Standouts were Praxedis at the sports bar who made sure our beers were full and cold regardless of the crowds and Luis at the Blue Ocean Beach bar who had his blender whizzing with our Pina colada's before reaching the front of the line. Many thanks to you two.

A great family vacation!
We travelled Jan 18-25, 2025. 2 Adults aged 43 and 2 kids (6&14) from Canada. I wanted to leave a review as I read many before going and felt I would help out any families or anyone thinking of going. First time to Mexico and this Brand of resort. It is about an hour bus ride from the airport. Check in was quick (unlike the horror stories I had read). We had paid for a Riveria Jr family suite (so expecting to be at the furthest point from the beach, more the family area) To our surprise they placed us in a one step up Hacienda building 76 suite. A villa style with 10 rooms and a shared little pool and hot tub. This was in the middle of the resort and a 4 min and 30 sec walk to the main entertainment/cafe area. There was a tram train that circled the resort with 3 stops for pick ups and get offs. Could definitely use a few more stops and another tram going at the same time.(The weekends had 2 running) However I was aware of this from previous reviews. We walked mainly. One end to the other was about 10 min walk if that. (Not awful) Definitely a family resort however the adults only area was very quiet and relaxing. Food-Cup cake cafe, great option however we didn't go often due to line up. Mexican grill beside the cupcake cafe was amazing!!!! Festival Buffet was the only buffet we went to (near the main area/beach)the food was amazing! The Italian, Mexican, French and Asian restaurants were also good and was a nice change for dinners. We booked all 4 nights with the earliest time 6pm the first evening at guest services. Honestly a little tip helps and goes a long way. We found that leaving a tip for the maid (especially when asking for drinks, wine etc) goes along way. I know it's an all inclusive, however when we go to a local restaurant at home we tip way more in Canadian than a few USD for these workers. They are so grateful and go out of their way for you. Pools- lots of pool choices, we loved the pool and waterslides near the beach the best, however visited all the rest and they were great also. Never an issue finding chairs or shade. No need to reserve any early. Things to do- mini putt, ping pong, pool table and the kids arcade (open 3-11pm) were a hit with my kids and kept them busy every evening. The entertainment venue was the best I have ever seen at a resort. Great acts and entertainment, the downfall is the main acts didn't come on stage until 9pm. Was a bit late some nights for my youngest kid. We are not huge beach ppl however we went a few times and it was beautiful! Very large, lots of chairs and shade. Things to do such as volleyball and soccer. The water was nice as well, it was clear and white sand. Big resort however I was expecting bigger based on reviews I read prior. It's a beautiful resort to walk through. If you have mobility issues or don't want to walk any, find a different resort. It's very clear upon booking, Google and pictures that this resort requires walking. Don't book it then come and complain about it. Lol Tips If you have young kids bring a wagon Bring a wall outlet with some extra plugs and USB slots. We definitely had a great time and would go back. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The staff were also amazing. Shout outs to- Johnny at the Mexican restaurant mari guacamole lady at the Mexican restaurant Hector at the family beach pool bar Yator at the buffet Gloria & yani at the Asian restaurant I hope this helps anyone out there going or thinking of going.

Our Wedding at Sandos Playacar – January 17, 2025
Our wedding at Sandos Playacar was an unforgettable experience, filled with both highs and some small bumps along the way, but in the end, it was absolutely perfect. We would not hesitate to choose Sandos Playacar again for a wedding. Wedding Team: From the start, I worked directly with the wedding sales executive, Yunuen Palma, who was wonderful (10/10). She was helpful and guided us through the initial stages of booking, answering all our questions. Our on-site wedding coordinators, Frida Granados and Luis Armando Villasenor Dominguez, were both exceptional and deserve a perfect 10/10 as well. They went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. Wedding Ceremony: Our ceremony took place on the beach, and it was nothing short of breathtaking. The turquoise water, soft sand, and the overall beach setting made it feel like a dream come true. It’s hard to imagine a more beautiful setting (10/10). Reception: The cocktail hour and reception were held in the stunning garden. We chose to pay extra for a dance floor, which we were very happy with. We didn’t opt for the string lights, and in hindsight, we’re glad we didn’t, as the atmosphere was perfect without them (10/10). Food and Drinks: The food and drinks were delicious—everything from the hors d’oeuvres to the main course was well-prepared and flavorful. Our wedding cake was also amazing (10/10). Entertainment: We had sound entertainment during the ceremony, as well as a DJ for the cocktail hour and reception. The DJ did a fantastic job keeping the energy lively throughout the night (10/10). Overall Experience: The entire experience was smooth and memorable, and I’d rate the wedding services a solid 10/10. There were definitely some challenges leading up to the big day, but the team at Sandos Playacar made sure everything was handled well in the end. Planning Process: Initially, I had been working with a wedding planner from the U.S., but they suddenly bailed on me, so I decided to work directly with the resort. After reserving our date with a $250 deposit, I didn’t need to pay anything else until we arrived at the resort. The wedding coordinators are accessible through WhatsApp, but there was some initial nervousness on my part, as the communication seemed slow at first. I received a document called "Masterfile" after signing the contract, which outlines the details of the wedding package, music, seating, and timeline. However, I didn’t receive direct communication with a coordinator until about a month before the wedding, which made me anxious (especially because I’m a bit of a planner myself). I did try to reach out a few times but had trouble connecting, which was frustrating. However, once I spoke with Frida, I felt a huge sense of relief. She confirmed everything was on track. While Frida was very busy handling multiple weddings, Luis was also an excellent help, especially with questions regarding lighting for the reception. By the time we arrived at the resort, everything fell into place, and I realized just how hard they work—handling multiple weddings per day! It was impressive to see the dedication of both Frida and Luis. They really made our wedding day happen flawlessly. Decor and Extra Details: We did bring a few personal touches, like LED candles, small bud vases, a thank-you sign, and wedding favors. I was pleased that there were no extra charges for these items, except for the flowers for the bud vases, which were $210. The resort’s team also steam-pressed our outfits and delivered them to our room. Our meeting with Frida and Luis took about two hours and covered everything in detail. After the wedding, we picked up our décor from the wedding office, and they even helped pack it up for us. Suggestions for Improvement: While our experience was mostly wonderful, I would recommend an update to the timeline document provided to couples. Specifically, it would be helpful if the timeline clarified that all planning and finalizations will happen during the first meeting at the resort. For someone like me, who tends to worry, it would have eased some of my anxiety knowing that everything would be handled in person upon arrival. Final Thoughts: In the end, our wedding was everything I dreamed of and more. I cannot thank Frida and Luis enough for making it all happen. If you’re planning a wedding at Sandos Playacar, I highly recommend working with them. They truly made our wedding day special and stress-free.
