Mar 01, 2025Summer Camp Buffets and Lodgings...Upgrade If You Can
Be careful in booking this resort. If you're not paying extra to book at a higher tier, you're getting, essentially, summer camp food and lodgings. The buffets are barely edible and the a la cartes are quite good. Lovely grounds with animals and a cenote on site. Rooms have a summer camp feel and some rooms are dirty. We complained quite a bit and reception did respond to our complaints.

Trying to think of some positives and it’s really hard. Some of the staff are great, being in the jungle is neat and seeing the wildlife is fun. The beds are comfortable. The negatives. First day getting to our room and the safe is low battery so it won’t work but that’s where the app has been great. It took 10 mins to using the app and the safe getting fixed. Not that we watch a lot of tv but it’s nice to have while waiting for people to get ready but it doesn’t work The food!!!!! By day 3 I cringed at the thought of eating anywhere in the resort. Food is cold and just not appealing. Line ups are long and selection is weak. In the international I let them know that one basket of buns and hundreds of ants in it. The guy just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. We have come with family and we are in all areas of the resort. Myself and my husband are in the adults select area. Rooms are ok, breakfast in the Brazil restaurant has been great. My sister and her family are in the select rooms by the ocean and pool. Her room is plain but close to everything and my brother and his family are in the family area. His room is by far the nicest room as it looks like it has just been newly renovated. We walked in his room and found out we all should have had a fruit plate and bottle of champagne in all our rooms. Rooms should all of a checklist before saying they’re ready for guests. My sister also had to get her safe looked at as hers wasn’t working. This resort was probably really nice 10 years ago but the upkeep has been nonexistent I think. We had one day that it poured in the evening and the sports bar and main lobby have soooo many holes in the roof. Water was everywhere. One last note the staff at the pool seemed very unprofessional. 4 of them were wrestling and causing a scene. One girl was on the ground while one guy was ripping her shoe off. Another girl jumped on that guys back while the other guy was pulling the girls arms that was on the ground while Horse playing like that is definitely not setting a good example for the kids.

Karla is really good at aqua park ................. Food is really good...............lobby is clean and good.. and really good staff ..... And professional.... Drink are awesome and good all day Long..... Beautiful weather and good room service

Hair and makeup
Fabiola and Julisa were phenomenal! They came to our room to do our makeup and hair for my daughter’s wedding We all looked amazing! We had stylists in our party and they were impressed with the skill level of these ladies. Brides do not hesitate to book your services with the onsite salon.

Wedding at Sandos Eco Resort
The resort was phenomenal for family. There was something for everyone and it was big enough that everyone could have their own space, then meet up for family activities later. I cannot say enough good things about our wedding planner Victor Petit. From start to finish, he handled everything for us perfectly. He handled every request without hesitation and he is soooo friendly and happy. Our entire family commented on how wonderful he was. My brother who is engaged even wanted to fly Victor back to the USA to handle his wedding! The only “negatives” for the trip were that it is semi-difficult to get reservations for the non-buffet food options. You have to log on to the resort app between midnight and 2am the night before or they fill up entirely. The other thing was that some of the logistical elements of our experience could have been better. For example, we booked our post wedding breakfast in bed for 7am because we were leaving for an excursion at 8am and they did not arrive until 7:45am so we could not eat. Would overall absolutely recommend for a vacation or wedding. Everyone had a great time and the resort was safe, clean, and welcoming!
