Xmas in DR
One thing abt Royalton is the consistency; stayed at Negril 3x and decided to try splash pc over xmas and whew . I book DC to avoid issues and ensure max relaxation but bbys my mouth was dry from having to consistently advocate for amenities, services and perks that were incl in my room category and pkg. I had the 1bdrm Suite and my kids beds were just an itchy blanket and a mattress cover . COME ON. The booklet I never got instead received sheaths for cabana rental . OFC the cabana I was assigned to was ripped , dingy and old😒. Ruined the entire holiday chasing after the butler who relegated our tasks to the bottom of his to do list. Not to mention the misogynoir of DR and the treatment from some staff especially the DC Splash pool Bar Staff. They cld not be bothered Idky🤷🏿♀️. My checking in experience ought to have been indicative of the rest of my stay. Anyways the DC beach bar girlies Louisa and her fabulous colleague were amazing as were our housekeeping aunties. I used to really love and recommend this chain because its a great compromise ; a CONSISTENT chain with a little lux that accomodates kids can be hard to find and all this poor customer service especially at a multi thousand price point is unacceptable.

April 23-30, 2025, Royalton Splash Diamond Club
We had an awesome time, we had diamond club in room 29108 at Royalton splash. Our butler, Ernesto, was as the greatest of them all. Left us snacks and made sure our mini bar was fully stocked with our favourite drinks, on a daily basis. Ernesto did communicate with us via what’s app on a daily basis and booked all of our “à là carte” dinner reservations for us, by first ensuring where we wanted to go and preferred time to eat. I strongly recommend Diamond Club upgrade as you will not only have access to a great butler like Ernesto, but you will also have full access to ALL the restaurants that are at Royalton Punta Cana. I must say that the buffet at Royalton Punta Cana is also a lot more appealing and full than the one at Splash. The staff, at least, all the ones we encountered, where great and seemed happy to be there. We had no issues with anyone or anything all week. No lack of food, drinks, sand and sun here. The grounds are very well kept and I was presently surprised to see that this resort is using washable plastic cups at ALL the bars. We did see a few broken lights along one of the buildings, but we assumed that these may have been tipped over by tipsy tourists, at the end of a long night 😂. The ones we noticed had been stumbled on AND fixed within the week we were there. No complaints about the room cleanliness, all amenities within the room were in great condition. My only “complaint” is that the bathroom door kept shutting on it’s on, but most people would want to have it shut anyways. 😆 Speaking of bathrooms, the facilities across both resorts are kept really well, no broken doors or toilet seat and we never ran into an issue of no TP. Building 29 at Royalton Splash is roughly à 15 minutes walk to the beach, that is at a “slow and enjoy the view” past. There are also 2 buggies that run from the Splash lobby, trough the entire Splash resort, with multiple stops on the way, and that can drop you off right at the Royalton Punta Cana lobby. These buggies run from 6am to 2am, so no worries if you want to go to the late show, thé club, or the casino. The beach hut are in high demand. We also noticed that some butlers at Royalton Punta Cana seems to “reserve” some of them for their high tipping costumers. This was no issue for us as we are normally on the same schedule as the sun, but don’t plan on sleeping in till 10 and getting a front row seat with a hut 😉. We were normally ON the beach at 8am the latest.

Unmet Expectations at Royalton Splash
I checked into the Royalton Splash Resort in Punta Cana on April 24th for what was meant to be a joyful family getaway—celebrating my aunt's 70th and my niece's 30th birthdays. Unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. Each building at the resort has three floors and—surprisingly—no elevators. Imagine dragging heavy suitcases up several flights of stairs in the Caribbean heat. To make matters worse, the room I was first assigned was on the top floor, and the air conditioning wasn’t working. I was told someone would fix it “eventually,” but there was no sense of urgency. After a frustrating wait, I had to go down to the front desk myself to request a room change. Service across the resort was consistently underwhelming. Many of the staff we encountered were either unhelpful or outright rude. On our first night at the buffet, the man grilling steak and chicken for the tacos was busy on his phone. Even more bizarrely, Royalton employees were casually entering the buffet dining area to grab meals while guests were eating. The food itself? Mediocre at best. Pool activities were okay, but the Jacuzzis were unexpectedly cold—not exactly relaxing. If you’re looking for a lively evening by the pool, forget it—the poolside bars shut down at 6 p.m., and most other outdoor bars closed by 10 or 11 p.m., leaving little room for nighttime relaxation. The one bright spot came when we dined at Royalton Punta Cana, the neighboring hotel. We paid extra for two dining experiences there, and both the food and service were finally on par with what you’d expect from a resort in this price range. That said, credit where it’s due—Rafael from Royalton Excursion and Luis the event planner truly went above and beyond for our family. Their professionalism and warmth stood out in an otherwise disappointing stay. Royalton Splash Punta Cana has potential, but it’s in desperate need of staff training and a serious upgrade to its food quality and guest services.

Not worth it!
Where to start. Let’s be positive first. Pros: Pools were clean Pros: Kids would love it (they don’t care about the cons I’m going to list). They had the water park and a lot of entertainment. Pros: 1 worker was very helpful Rafael from Nexus Tours. He was polite, helpful, and great with communications. Now for the not so positive: Con: Stained sheets Con: Stained curtains Con: Cleanliness of the room overall Con: They could never give us the correct number of towels. Con: Three floors no elevators. You have to take your own luggage up the stairs and down when leaving. No assistance! Con: Beware within 15 minutes of being in our room 2 different workers at different times entered our room. When I mentioned it to the concierge he just said sorry. Con: Room service takes 1 to 1.5 hours to come. Also know that when you order through the tv do not go to the bathroom because if you do no pick up the phone 2 minutes after placing the order they will cancel. And through the app they will message you, if you don’t message back right away they will cancel. They are also very aggressive talkers when they call. Con: Liquor, they fill up the named liquor with lower brand liquor . Con: All the bars close early 10 or 11pm except for the sport bar on the other side where you have to take the trolley. Cons: Pool bar closes at 6pm Con: Pool closes at 7pm Con: the resort is very dark, lightning is very dim for my liking especially since the security isn’t the best. Con: Food is mediocre. You would want to try the cultural foods. The buffet is a joke. The workers there are not nice. The restaurants are Mexican and Italian. It would be nice to have a Dominican restaurant so that you can experience the culture. Dominican food, Dominican desserts, Dominican drinks (soft drinks) My advice it’s not worth it.
