Terrible
We have been to the Royallton in Jamaica …. Loved it. We thought we would try punta Cana for a change and it was terrible. Our butler was amazing but the resort was lacking! See pics below. Food was not good. For you vodka club soda friends. No club soda at the main pool bar :(. So many guests sick- 4 of my 7 vomiting and more.. met 4 other families with the same issues.. we actually lost weight at this all inclusive. Leak in my daughter’s room. They took the ice bucket that was catching the leak in the ceiling, filled it with ice, and used her yeti cup to catch the water dripping from the ceiling. ., disgusting 🤢 first vacation we all wanted to leave.

Maybe a 3-Star.
This was our first time staying at a Royalton and expected a lot more. Food: The wait staff in buffet just stand around, I had to go up to them to ask for coffee and water. One of the waitresses spilled water all over the table at the buffet one night, didn't seem to really care either. Food at the buffet is pretty basic. Not much a selection as some of the other resorts we've been to. Staff at the Hunter restaurant however, was awesome! The food was good and they were very nice and service was extremely professional. We also ate at Grazie, one of the Italian restaurants, the food and staff there were horrible. Beach - The burger was probably the best thing on the menu but everything was pretty good. Beach staff was friendly. Butler Service: Our butler was Romeo, he needs proper training, he was not good at anything, he served no purpose to us, he couldn't answer basic questions we had, we had to figure out everything on our own, which defeats the point of having butler service. He was MIA most of our trip, we did however see him at the buffet and chilling at the beach bar a few times. He did show up at the end of our trip, we believe looking for a tip. Rooms: Our initial room had two double beds (this was a couples vacation) and the washroom was very dirty. The shower looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time. There were also nails sticking out of the walls where pictures probably used to be and the coach had white stains on it. We did complain and the Sunwing representative made sure we were moved to a better room with a King size bed, bathroom still was not the cleanest. Beach: Very nice beach, hardly any seaweed. Entertainment: Not very good. Foam party was more of a Mr. Bubbles party. Nightclub: DJ played what he liked. Pools: Tiles were missing, even in our swim up room tiles were breaking and coming loose. Concierge: Lois was awesome, if it was not for him we would not know anything about how to use coupons. He basically did the butlers job. He helped get us into restaurants etc. Diamond Club: Waste of money. The ladies in the Diamond Club section , also useless and could not answer anything, not sure if they didn't understand or they just didn't care. The waitress in the diamond club was excellent. Bars: Bartenders were all pretty good. Choice of liquor was a little unclear as to what diamond club was allowed to drink, but they did have a good selection. Overall: This is more of a 3-star hotel. I would not go back. Diamond Club is a complete waste of money. A lot of the staff do not speak English, most of the staff look like dear in headlights if asked a question. Wait staff are lazy and were seen chatting with each other a lot. They also try and push their packages on guests which is also a total rip off. The $600 in coupons also a rip off. This resort needs a lot of work and staff need a lot of training. Checking in took an hour and we were not greeted with a cocktail or even basic manners when we arrived. Once again we did not know who our butler was and no where around. The man at the front desk checking people in was super slow and could not answer questions, basically told us to come back the next day and ask. If you're looking for luxury and a nice vacation, go somewhere else.

Don’t stay here
I wish I paid attention to the previous reviews. This was the worst experience our family has ever had at any type of resort or hotel. Do not recommend at all. Completely disorganized, a disaster from check-in to trying to find a place to eat. Our room had no electricity shortly after checking in, after a long day of international travel with kids. No one at the front desk could help or resolve any issues. There was always a line of other unhappy guests waiting for a manager.. who was always unavailable. We were supposed to stay 4 nights and had to leave to another hotel after the first night. 0/10 recommend.

Didn’t Feel Very Royal
Stayed for a week at the Hideaway, Diamond club. The beaches are amazing and the wait staff at the hideaway beach (Brendy & Mario) were awesome. We made sure to tip on every drink so they were very attentive. Housekeeping was great, didn’t love that the evening turn down service kind of just walked in. On the 6 nights we’ve stayed I’ve only seen the turn down service twice. The food - it’s resort food, not bad but not amazing. Butler - very attentive and helped us out with a few reservations which will lead me to my next point. Room service and restaurant reservations - they are reservation psychos but it’s impossible to get a reservation in the App. There is always a back end issue with it, I work in IT and this reservation system in their app was probably created by two 1st year engineers out of high school. Trying to schedule room service breakfast in their app is also a pain, it lets you pick times that aren’t available just for the staff to tell you it’s not available. If the slot isn’t open then I should not be able to choose it. Last major gripe is the aggressive Prime club subscription sellers in your building that do not take no or even absolutely not as an answer. Since there is only one way in/out of the buildings you’re trapped by them. It was so off putting that we made sure to stay on the beach until about 5PM so they were gone we came back to the room. Overall this place wasn’t the vibe I personally look for so I won’t be back. But the beach here is amazing .
