Mar 10, 2025NOt a bang for you buck
We paid close to $600 a night here and we really didn't feel like we got our money's worth. the beaches were full of seaweed, I thought they would clean their beaches like most luxury hotels do. There weren't any pool attendants to help with towels and chairs. No servers coming around to offer drinks. The rooms were ok. Beds were comfortable. All in all I don't think you get your money's worth here.

Mar 10, 2025BEWARE- VALET DAMAGED OUR RENTAL CAR- HOTEL SHIRKED RESPONSIBILITY
Hotel security filed a report, gave us a copy of the report to submit to the rental car company stating, 'This will not be a problem, give them the report and we will take care of everything'. Except, that was entirely false. A complete deception; we were scammed. The rental car company rejected the hotel security report and charged us for the damage to the car. A followup call to Sonesta Relations only resulted in a 'case number' with no follow up and no way to reach them. Calls to the head of security are disconnected before reaching voice mail. When I attempt to call the general manager, the operator told me there is not a GM on site, as if that matters when I am on the phone. When I asked to leave a message for the GM, I was told the voice mail has not been set up. Say what?! How can that be? With no GM available, who is managing that property? There are other lovely hotels in the area, best to go elsewhere because if anything goes wrong at The Royal Sonesta San Juan, there is no accountability and you are left with no path for recourse.

Hotel is beautiful. Beach and pool area are perfect and beautiful. All staff is exceptional. Special mention to Jasmine at the front desk and Javier concierge. Both were friendly, helpful and wonderful! Room was beautiful, room and entire property are kept immaculate. Nilsa did a beautiful job straightening up our room for us each day! We will definitely return

Great Family Trip
We returned to the Royal Sonesta in February. My family of 9 had a great time. We stayed in rooms in the club area. This provides you with large rooms, a buffet breakfast and drinks plus appetizers for happy hour. My grandchildren loved the pool and beach. The staff is always ready to help. Nestor Colon, the concierge is full of information on where to go and Salvatore Colon, the front desk manager made sure our rooms were perfect. Even the doormen are always helpful (especially William) and we were treated royally by the wait staff at Karaya. We will be returning next winter.

The overall hotel experience was very good and what made it even better is the level of customer service and hospitality from William. He was very welcoming throughout the stay. Also, The ocean facing rooms have an amazing view. Pool area was nice as well.
