Mar 11, 2025Great Adults only hotel with top quality staff
Great adults-only hotel set in beautifully kept gardens. Staff here are excellent and very attentive - especially Armando (our Concierge), Ricardo(super breakfast waiter, Spices), Monserrat(receptionist at Spices), Brenda (waitress at Azia), David(waiter at Ventanas) and Exal (pool attendant). Food was top quality at all restaurants- our favourite was Azia, especially the Teppanaki experience with chef Adrian. While some areas were noisier than others, there are a few smaller pools where you can relax in peace during the day, which we enjoyed as an older couple. Our room was very clean and spacious with comfy seats on the balcony for relaxing. Room service is good and available 24 hours. Just a couple of small suggestions for improvement - if we had a kettle in our room we could have made our own tea each evening instead of calling for room service. We did ask but apparently there are none available. Also the bath plug did not fully close so we had to use a face cloth to keep the water in the tub- this was reported to maintenance but was never repaired. Our main issue was the lack of sunbeds at the resort - there are simply not enough for all guests and some are reserved from early morning with towels etc which is annoying - especially for a quality hotel. All of these things are relatively easy to resolve. Having said that, we have really enjoyed our time here and are particularly grateful to Armando who helped us to call a doctor when my husband was unwell.

Fantastic experience
Beautiful experience. Sucel has been very helpful. Always making sure things a good.. The grounds are beautiful and the ocean, well next level. The food at all places is very good. My friends and Are talking about a return. Highly recommend. Next trip for my family!

Second time visiting RH. We had a very good time here. The resort is a small adults only resort. The resort is starting to show its age however not at the point of being terrible.Our concierge Sucel was outstanding with ensuring everything was great, Thank you! The beach is outstanding! The food was great in all the restaurants however in some cases the food wasn’t hot.the speed to table was a little slow obviously due to lack of staff. Definitely not the staff , they were all outstanding plus!! The bars were good but the inconsistency of available drinks from one bar to another left us wondering why. There again it was not the bartenders & servers as they can only deliver what they are given. At the end of our ten day vacation a great time was had & we look forward to returning.

Exceptional cuisine and beach
Royal Hideaway Playacar is much smaller than surrounding resorts on the Riviera Maya. Their private beach is gorgeous and better maintained than most Their customer service is tops, with a fully bi-lingual workforce. Everyone smiles and they seem to have low turnover. The food is outstanding, drawing dozens back for yearly stays. Average age seemed to be 50-60.

Loved our stay!
Royal hideaway was fantastic overall! Wanted an adults only, all inclusive resort that Also had good food and we got what we wanted! Everything was impeccably maintained, grounds were beautiful, food and drinks amazing and plentiful! We had a fun excursion and great transportation to the airport. Could not recommend this place enough!!!
