What a disappointment!
Really disappointed in this resort. The staff with the exception of a few are VERY unfriendly. Bartenders are rude and ignore you when you walk up to the bar. Several of the front desk staff are rude and unfriendly. We asked for assistance in booking one of the restaurants and they acted like we were asking for the moon. The sound systems are horrible. Couldn't understand anything that was being said at the evening entertainment. This has to have been brought to their attention but must not care. The two pools that are next to each other play different music and you can hear both at one time. Daily activities are basically non-existent. Rooms are old and need to be updated. The air conditioning is hard to regulate. Rooms are either too cold or too hot. Had to ask for towels several times. Beach chairs are old. This is supposed to be adults only however; children from nearby resorts play at the RIU beach. The people that visit during the day from the cruise ships take over the pools and are loud and obnoxious therefore, the guests are not a priority. Food at the buffet was good.

Mid Hotel- Don't go on boat cruise with "Chippy" from the beach!
The hotel was decent, loved the room and it's view, the food was great, but the staff isn't outwardly friendly and the staff that were, were definitely out numbered so it didn't leave a lasting impression. The activities around the pool were not that engaging and the sound systems both at the pool and in the Calypso bar need upgrades. Overall, not a terrible place to stay but not greatest either. The main reason for the review is to help warn people about the cruise boat salesman "chippy" down on the beach. He approached us to sell us a trip for 4 hours to see Gilligan's Island, blue Lagoon, pink sandy beach, pigs, turtles, snorkeling and drinks. We asked ALOT of questions leading up to booking it, what does the boat look like, how many people can fit, cost, drinks available, what is the pink sand beach, etc.....There were 8 in our group alone and then 4 people around us and 1 traveling alone wanted to come with us as we all felt like this could be a good trip. We had some reservations about this guy, but reserving anything outside of the hotel services we knew could be a little questionable. Ok, a little questionable was wrong....Chippy promises you a yacht (showed us a picture) and we ended up on an OLD charter fishing boat with 20 people and limited seating. The drinks were out of a cooler and he had mixed some Bahama mama concoction together in an old plastic jar and passed around a bottle of rum. Some dared to put on the snorkeling gear that looked to be in a bait bucket and jump into an open area of water (not a reef or anything) to see fish. We cruised by what was said to have filmed Gilligan's Island, dropped by the spot for turtles (saw 2) there were people swimming around and Chippy's boat kept getting shallower and kicking up sand until we just turned and left. Saw one pig on a beach (from a far away distance) and anchored to see the pink sand beach. Um, we had to swim to the beach (understanding they can't anchor to shallow, but we were out a ways)....we were given pool noodles as our safety net, swam to the shore and the pink sand was literally pink/coral specs Chippy picked up from under the water. After this we got on the boat and made our way back. He talked inappropriately to some of the women on the boat and literally begged for good tips. The cab driver on the way home asked how it was and we told him Chippy is a rip off and he started laughing. We told him he said his boat was in the shop and he rented this charter boat. Cab driver said he tells all his customers that! So basically my point is, don't get bamboozled by Chippy. Stay AWAY from his sales!

Riu would not recommend
This hotel is NOT a 3, 4, or 5 star hotel. The patrons are all over the top; loud, over the top partiers with clothes coming off at the swim up bar. In addition, add the the 'DAY-TRIPPERS' [Cruise Ship patrons] that pay a daily fee to come to this hotel to party. Hogging the bars and being even further over the top. We had to call the police due to a domestic violence issue we heard in our room 4 doors down. No clean towels for 4 days, even after many kind requests. The food service staff were kind and polite. The management has serious issues with the operation. For an island destination, this hotel has very little outdoor space. All restaurants and non-pool bars are indoor. Will return to the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar next trip.

Birthday Trip with Best Frienf
My best friend and I had a fantastic trip to the Bahamas and we enjoyed our stay at the RIU Palace Paradise Hotel! The staff were so friendly. Specifically, Rashad, Wincel, John, Dario, and Iris made our stay and restaurant experience seamless! The food was fantastic! In our room we were a little cold and were able to request a blanket which helped a lot! We had a wonderful stay and can’t wait to come back!

Great resort
The resort was beautiful. The staff were helpful and kind. The food was good. The drinks were strong. The two downfalls would be that the bathroom in the rooms need exhaust vents and the floors throughout the resort were slippery. Not having exhaust vents made the rooms wet after showers. The floors were clean and shiny, but that made them slippery throughout the resort the entire day.
