A great vacation
My husband and I had a great time at RIU Palace Costa Mujeres. I’ve been to Mexico several times and this is one of my favorite resorts. We were able to relax when we wanted to and have fun and excitement when we felt like it too. Beach and ocean is beautiful. Pools were great! We enjoyed the adults only Tequila pool and spent most of our time there. Miguel and Irvin took great care of us and made the best drinks! Bed was a little hard but we slept well and really liked the black out curtains as the room got super dark and let us sleep as late as we wanted to. Buffet was good with lots of options. The Mexican restaurant and the Italian restaurant were our favorites but they are all good. Pepe’s is where we had lunch most days and it was always good. We enjoyed the area by the cappuccino bar in the evenings..the piano was nice to listen to and the cappuccino bar had yummy desserts, milk shakes, and coffee drinks.if you want alcohol that’s available too and the bar in the same area: The only thing I found disappointing is that there wasn’t anyone to greet us when we arrived other than the people who help with your luggage. Line to check in was very slow and by the time we arrived we were so thirsty and ready for a drink. Other places we have stayed welcome you with a drink while you wait to get checked in. Other than that it was great! We hope to return with our kids next time.

Hotel Riu Palace Costa Mujeres
We are currently staying at RIU PALACE COSTA MUJERES, but I believe this will be our first and last visit. Unfortunately, the experience has been highly disappointing. Drinks: The drinks are very watery, leading us to suspect that the alcohol might be diluted amd replaced with very cheap alternatives. Restaurants: Making reservations is impossible, even for special occasions like Christmas Eve or New Year. The wait times are excessively long. For example, on December 26, 2024, we arrived at the restaurant at 6 PM, received a pager, and weren’t seated until 8:50 PM. Restrictions: My 17-year-old has been excluded from gym access, which feels unnecessarily restrictive. It is also unclear if he will be allowed to attend the New Year party, even when accompanied by parents. Rooms: The rooms have very little counter space, making it nearly impossible to place grooming products or cosmetics on the countertop. The outdoor furniture is also very worn out, contributing to an overall sense of neglect. Beach/Pool Lounge Chairs: The lounge chairs by the beach and pool are extremely uncomfortable and worn out, resembling those of a 3-star hotel rather than a luxury resort. Amenities: The beach towels are extremely worn and dirty, with noticeable black spots. The bed sheets in our room were also dirty—our "fresh" bed had visible lipstick and foundation stains on both the pillow and sheet. Staff: While most of the staff have been friendly and tried to assist, one interaction stood out as particularly frustrating. When I asked about the New Year’s program, including food and entertainment specials, I was told to use the kiosk in the lobby to find the information myself, which felt dismissive. This resort falls far short of being a luxury destination and requires significant improvements to meet even the most basic standards of quality and comfort.

Riu Palace does not disappoint
We are staying in RIU Palaces for the past 9 years, and in Costa Mujeres the second time. With Palace you get consistent service, high quality food and drinks. The best price-to-value ratio in my opinion.

Beautiful Resort with Mixed Service
We visited Riu Palace as a group of 16 during the April 2024 vacation, including 13 adults and 3 kids. The resort itself is beautiful, with a nice and clean beach and many warm pools. However, our experience was mixed. Service: The service was hit and miss. Some staff members were very nice and catered to our needs, while others ignored us all together. Food: The food at the Italian restaurant was great, but everywhere else it was just OK. Entertainment and Kids Club: The entertainment and kids club were OK, but nothing exceptional. The kids’ water park was decent, but the hours of operation were inconsistent. Additionally, there was no water or snacks available at the water park, and you are not allowed to bring anything there. This meant that if your child was hungry, you had to walk all the way back to the resort and then back to the park. Other Issues: Another annoying aspect was the system for cards and the number of towels you could get. Overall, it was an OK 4-star stay. The resort has its positives, but there are areas that need improvement.

2nd time here … fantastic !
We had such a great time here in 2022 that we had to come back. Basically everything at this RIU is excellent. The beach, pool, rooms, gardens are all super clean. Staff are so attentive and friendly. Food was great. The only small thing was quality of poolside drinks. But easily overlooked as everything else was fab. Thanks RIU
