We have stayed at the Riu Palace Antillas three times now and this time at Riu Palace. Both places are great and most staff are pleasant and very professional. We spent most of our time at the Antillas beach, bar and buffet only because we are very comfortable and familiar with that property plus it is adult only. The Antillas was fully booked so that is why we stayed at the family Palace.

I have only checked in today and so far not happy with room. Overlooks a construction site and they are unable to move me, I find that hard to believe. Room smells musty and mold in spots. I discovered immediately that the toilet was broken and would not flush and called right away and was assured someone would fix. After a lovely dinner at the buffet, toilet still not fixed so another call. Third call and now 1130pm and still no usable toilet. This after a long travel day…. Not impressed with RIU.

Great trip
Overall a great trip. Food was outstanding. Place very clean. Bartenders at swim up pool were outstanding. Would definitely go back. Would like to have had drink service ant beach and pool. Although we requested 2 double beds and confirmed that before going to our room we were given one queen size bed. Had to go back down to desk to get new room. Check in time was very long. Clerk did not understand English so had to wait for another clerk to help. Housekeeping did not understand English-each day did not ave clean washcloths-Housekeeping did not know what we were asking for so had to call down to desk and wait for over an hour for washcloths and towels.

Nov 14, 2024A not so relaxing vacation
The first part of this review is totally out of Riu's control. Next door, the Hilton has been building an additional wing to its current hotel. Our room faces this construction (see photo) so no matter if we are in the room or on the beach the noise level of the construction is awful (see/listen to below video). No relaxation going on here. This construction has been going on for more than 12 months and as you can see its no where near completed. If you are hellbent in staying at the Riu, wait till the construction is complete. Now for issues that are within Riu's control. Only 2 working outlets in our room, only 1 working elevator in building C, and card key stops working every day so far (we are on day 5)! Not a lot of guests here & I know this because pool chairs & beach palapas still available at 10:00am! If you have stayed here you know the significance of this observation.

Staff is awesome! Beautiful hotel
From the moment you arrive till the moment you leave, every person is friendly and helpful. Check in with Junior was fast efficient and helpful. Our room everyday was clean and stocked by Yadi. We saw Lillian for Breakfast and Lunch daily. She actually made my visit the best. Daily smiles and advice was spot on. My evening coffee was with Lucy. Such a beautiful smile and pleasant, she helped me collect a few Florin coins to take home. These are just a few people who helped my stay at the Palace be as enjoyable as possible. The rooms were large and the views were spectacular. The pool with a swim up bar was fun. Daily water aerobics by some very energetic young men was fun. Our beach helper was so quick to get us our chairs out in the best spots. The view from the beach was stellar. There were many different types of restaurants to choose from where to eat each night. Each has its own preselected menu. The Japanese restaurant was great. Nautilus had lobster!! The buffet offered so many choices three times a day. You will not go hungry. A very enjoyable time over our 4 days. I can not stress how the staff made this not just a fun vacation but a great memory to keep forever.
