Apr 14, 2025Real Review. Great Experience!
So we arrived and it super nice inside. Check in was quick and easy. Our room was an ocean view on the 9th floor. It was perfect. Room. There’s a king size bed and our view was great. The shower had a large overhead shower. The hallway to the room was clean. I will say i always saw housekeeping cleaning. Things to do . Of course the beach, which is beautiful!!! There were some spots with a lot seaweed but it’s the beach. There’s 3 pools which were very nice . One was like a family pool a bunch kids, the other had the bar no kids. The other was more for playing volleyball. They also have water excursions you can do too. Food was GOOD! It’s buffet style but they also have like 3 or 4 restaurants you can go to with reservations only though. There’s a jerk shack restaurant by the pool for lunch that’s delicious! They had jerk chicken, nachos and burgers. There’s also a 24hr bar/restaurant that’s good. The nachos, burgers and jerk chicken were delicious. The buffet was so good. There’s SO much to choose from. The dessert bar was good there’s different sections like steak bar, fruit bar, Caribbean food bar , seafood bar, sushi bar, pizza bar, random American food bar. The ONLY thing is the food was lukewarm never hot. So if you go right when they open especially for dinner (6:30pm) it’s a lot better and not that picked over too. Entertainment. There was something to do every night for adults and kids. Including a pool party, beach party on Sunday a Michael Jackson show and little time for kids to be active sing along and dance. Just to name a few. Overall this resort was 9 out of 10 for us. I’ve been to other Riu’s and they were very meh and old looking and the food was not good . This was very updated very modern and just overall beautiful. The grounds were well kept. The staff were super nice. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves, you should definitely try it.

It’s a beautiful place, rooms and all amenities looks great. Our family only option was that they wanted was halal chicken. Some jerk chicken would’ve been great. Another big group of families like 18 people are visiting in mid May and they asked for halal chicken but was told they have to purchase their own chicken and bring it in to be prepared only not store. They are travelling from North America and it’s impossible to do such. We stayed twice at royalton Negril and they were very accommodating to us with halal chicken. All of the chicken on that resort had halal meat. Jamaica has options for halal chicken and Riu Palace Aquarelle should be more flexible to offer halal chicken. It’s difficult to not eat any meat for an entire week.

last min trip
We had an amazing stay at the RIU Palace Aquarelle, kids entertainment and staff were abstutely amazing. Made everyone feel welcome the ambience was welcoming and entertaining to say the least. Food was the best I had on any trip. A little more effort into room cleanliness, and booking for supper are the a la carte resto could have been better. (Booking start time was at midnight - slightly late, maybe could be out for 6 am etc.. just a thought). Beaches were beautiful maybe needs a little bit of cleaning after parties and before vacationers are out. Otherwise we had a fabulous time !

Honest review
Like every hotel there’s good and there’s not so good. The rooms were clean, aesthetically pleasing and bed was comfortable. Ambience in the hotel was good. Swimming pools were good, water slide was a plus. Food at the buffet was ok, but could’ve been better. Not many options in soup, pasta, and seafood. Most hotels have make your own pasta station this one did not. Restaurants were hard to get reservations. The Asian restaurant was great. Coffee station in the lobby was great. There’s many bars but drinks are too sweet , even the soft drinks were super sweet. Waiters and waitresses were nice and pleasant. I feel that there should be an option for premium drinks.

House keeping a little disappointing!
House cleaning the first week was terrible room was only cleaned 4 days out of seven days . Maid came one day late and asked if we needed towels then asked for a tip . Second week was so much better . (Maybe first week was due to Mr Riu and guests been at the resort for the weekend. Other than that the stay staff and food were amazing . Best entertainment crew that we have seen at the Riu chain and we have been to several.
