Apr 30, 2025Do Not Stay at RIU Latino – Unsafe, Unprofessional, and Shady
I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt obligated to warn others after the nightmare I experienced at RIU Latino in March 2025. This was supposed to be a relaxing anniversary trip. Instead, it was the worst vacation I’ve ever had—unsafe, unclean, and full of shady activity both inside and outside the resort. To start: Our room wasn’t even ready at check-in time, and when we finally got in, it was dirty and missing essentials like towels and robes. The food made us sick. We avoided eating for most of the trip despite paying for an all-inclusive package. I wouldn’t trust the food safety at this place at all. ESPECIALLY THE SUSHI- DO NOT EAT THE SUSHI. The beach was covered in feces, and when I asked about it, they claimed it was from manatees… but local staff and guests told us otherwise. On top of that, stray dogs constantly roam the beach, making it impossible to enjoy. As someone afraid of dogs, I felt unsafe and trapped the entire time. But the worst part came when it was time to leave. We arrived early for our airport transfer and were told by the luggage attendant he would call us when the shuttle came. After waiting for almost an hour, we learned he had given our seats to other people without telling us. And suddenly, a “friend” of his offered to drive us—for a fee, of course. We were panicked, on the verge of missing our flight, and ended up paying more than we were quoted, just to get out. Locals we spoke with later said this kind of scam is common at the resort. I later spoke to multiple locals who confirmed that shady activity at RIU resorts in the area is common, including scams, and lack of beach security. Unfortunately, my experience aligned with everything they described. RIU's response to our formal complaint? A generic apology and $15 worth of loyalty points. That’s how much they value guest safety and well-being. Please, do not stay here. Your safety, your time, and your money are worth more. I would never recommend RIU Latino—or any RIU resort after this—to anyone.

Real Latino was clean, pretty, with a good service. But the best part was that the food was actually EXCELLENT! Not just for an all-inclusive establishment but, in general, excellent cuisine and almost always a table available. One server in particular, Fidel, stood out. Knowledge, professionalism, humor, the full package for a high end hospitality professional. Can’t wait to go back with friends.

Vacances au Riu Latino
Excellent séjour du 7 au 14 avril dernier…..même avec un petit irritant à l’enregistrement au Riu Latino mais qui été réglé avec un excellent service à la réception par Samantha dotée d’un sourire et d’une gentillesse peu commune….d’ailleurs, merci à cette jolie fille très professionnelle….notre chambre fut très bien située, face à la cour, avec un balcon et vue sur le complexe..une chambre très propre et tout ce qu’il faut pour notre confort et très bien insonorisée…..Tout le site est extrêmement propre et agréable. Le buffet est très bon et les restaurants à la carte bons également….Il ne manque pas de chaises longues à la plage ainsi que des parasols ..petit détail, si vous désirez une place confortable, assurez-vous de réserver assez tôt, c’est-à-dire entre 7h et 8hres…pas d’algue en ce qui nous concerne pour cette période. Un petit bémol pour une personne à mobilité réduite car il y a un petit trajet sur le sable pour vous y rendre …pas très long mais pas adapté….il serait à corriger……les activités ne manquent pas sans être agressantes …. les spectacles sont très bien et nous permettent de passer une belle soirée… Le personnel est gentil…..Nous en garderons un très bon souvenir………..Arlène et Nadia

Definite my top all inclusive
Excellent food; very clean resort; great staff - Nely in the buffet is absolutely the best! And Wilber with his portable bar gets another 5 stars. Oswaldo our life guard was also great. Beach was beautiful; water slides for an all adults were fun.
