Mar 12, 2025Very nice. The property was under construction at the time.
The entertainment was ok at night, but pool side entertainment was nonexistent and no one was arranging any sports that I know of. Seam like all they did was the foam party and dancing.

Excellent stay. Would have liked to see a few benches on the way to the beach and more umbrellas on the beach. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a couple of glitches and it was taken care of as fast as possible.

Great stay
We really enjoyed our time at the RIU Guanacaste. The new pool area is beautiful, the water park was fun and the food was better than most all inclusive places we have stayed.

Great family vacation
We booked the Riu Guanacaste, and we were placed in the new rooms, which were stylish, clean, and functional. The grounds are beautiful, and very well maintained. The walk from our room to the beach was approximately 10 minutes, which was not an issue for us, as we had a stroller for our daughter. The drinks were lovely, and the a lavender carte restaurants were also good. I didn't love the process for booking reservations, but we made it work most nights. My only true negative feedback is that on 2 nights, a lot of restaurants were closed. One night we got lucky and ate at the Italian restaurant, but the 2nd night we had to eat at the buffet which gets old very quickly. The Riu Land childrens activities were great, our daughter loved dropping in during the day for some activities, and she loved the nightly kids show. Overall, it's a lovely option for a family vacation.

Amazing vacation.
We had an amazing time. We loved the view of the mountains on both sides of us. The food situation was a little disappointing because you had to wait in line at 5:45 in order to get in to a restaurant. We like enjoying the beach/pool until the sun goes down. We did have amazing service by Royner anytime we ate at the buffet!
- AdvisoryCosta Rica will impose some restrictions for Holy Week. Alcohol is not permitted to be sold or consumed. This ban on alcohol starts the Thursday prior to Easter and runs through Easter Sunday. A few hotels purchase special permits to serve alcohol, but generally it is not available. In addition, most restaurants, shops, and bars will be closed for the same time period. Restaurants in the hotels will be operating. The City Tour will not be operating.
