Great Hotel
The front desk staff were great and helpful when answering my questions on things to do within walking distance of the hotel. The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. I had a good drinks and a great meal at the pool bar. I would definitely stay here again!

Looks cool but it’s only on the surface
The front desk staff and valets are hard-working and welcoming. The bed was super comfortable and the décor is cool. Aside from that, there were many quirks and inconveniences (eg, constant wind noise whistling through my door, half-wall shower), which I could have overlooked until at checkout I was told there was a “smoking report” on my room and I would be charged a fee. I protested because I don’t smoke at all and asked where the report came from. She said they have technology that senses it…then added their technology can also be triggered by cologne, hair spray, etc. She removed the charge, but the anger I felt at being accused so nonchalantly overshadowed any good feelings I had had about my stay. If the hotel continues to rely on their faulty technology to force their staff to offend guests as they checkout, they shouldn’t be surprised if those guests don’t return. As stated in other reviews, the pool bar is randomly open/closed on sunny days and the pool water is very warm/not refreshing. When the pool bar is closed, pool towels need to be retrieved from the front desk, which may result in your waiting behind a line of guests checking in/out. I understand that resort fees are standard at hotels, but at this place I really wondered what are we paying for, since amenities weren’t available and we were doing the work? The bar, The Lei Stand is now open and the staff and food/drinks there are fantastic; but be warned, it is reservation only with no priority given to hotel guests.

Ripped off in Hawaii.
I would NOT recommend staying at this place. We ended up paying an extra $62.89 PER NIGHT just on taxes alone. There is no pool, it’s a long hottub. The pool bar was never open. The bar in the hotel was closed for renovations and the sign started out saying ”Sorry Babes… which was insulting. The one time we asked for new towels to shower (we had no housekeeping) they took over an hour to come so we ended up going to the laundry room ourselves to grab some pool towels. We had no water glasses. So with having no housekeeping for 5 days, we still paid a resort fee (this is NO resort) of $48 PER NIGHT when I had it in writing we were to pay a resort fee of $30. But they didn’t care. Do not stay here. Their pictures and advertising is a fraud. It is NOT close to the beach. It is surrounded by an apartment, a garage and the hotel itself. No views from the balconies. Do not stay here.

Disappointing
The pictures are a bit deceiving, the room we had is older and not as spacious then appears in the picture. The fold out sofa bed was uncomfortable, the air conditioner was not working properly and the room was freezing, we had to call for assistance twice to try and turn it down. The outdoor pool area is extremely small, aside from this we could not use it as it was closed to the public for a private function. There was also a private function at night, the rooms are not sound proof and therefore sounded as though we were staying above a nightclub. None of this was disclosed at time of booking nor prior to our arrival. I would not stay at this venue again.

Wonderful stay at Romer House Waikiki
We all have different standards, but anyone that can rate this property with less than 5 stars has extremely high standards. This hotel is wonderful and the best customer service I’ve experienced in a very long time. Gerald at the front desk is amazing. I really don’t understand the negative reviews….you won’t be disappointed, reserve your room at Romer House Waikiki today!!!
