Dissappointment after dissapointment ( I spent more time with hotel manager than my husband.
We went for a break to escape the cold and get some relaxation. The reason for going was our 20th Wedding Anniversary. . Nothing off this happened. The pools are close together and one is noise and by location so is the other. First time went down to pool when husband taken ill after arrive at the resort two days into our stay. I went to the pools to read a book could not find a sunbed and told its full by staff. For two off those days I dragged a sunbed off the beach watched by staff. We had to fight to get sun beds each day as they are reserved from 5-00 to 6.00 o clock in the morning. They are not used until 10.30. We were ordered off two sunbeds by american guest which were empty and told they were theirs. They stand in the pool never leave it and is difficult to swim in it and ask yourself what else I am swimming in. We also had drunks under our room pre 4am shouting banging and running around the rooms below us.The Japanese restaurant was shut as chefs were ill shame time as husband. I did explain to manager how upset I was and said would do something for our anniversary he did he decorated someones else's room which would off took all off five minutes. Italian restaurant did not have the choice I wanted on two nights and the last night the food was awful. Entertainment team lessons are wrong on the board and that is if you can find them. The only good day was when we organised with our rep to go to Colum and had an interesting day out and good food. Our rep Maria from TUI also did as much as she could to help when my husband fell ill. Save yourself some money go else where and have a relaxing break where you do not have to fight to get a sunbed or food as the locust descend on the restaurant leaving nothing for anyone else. Yes I did go to the manager who just sent another member off staff to deal with it, no responsibility taken.

Will not go back
They charged us $80 upon checkout as we got a drop of makeup on the sheets. At the front desk they explained it happened a few days ago and couldnt tell what bed it happened on or even prof it was from our room. Normal wear and tear is not allowed here.

Great place to escape the Nordic winter
I spent a week here with my husband, sister and brother-in-law, and would definitely recommend this resort to anyone who wants to get away from their busy life. The beach was clean and there were plenty of sun beds on the beach. However, people did make a dash for the sun beds around the pools early in the morning. The two pools were a good size, one of them seemed to be a bit of a party pool with a lot of going on. So something for everyone! The music was sometimes very loud though, so we moved further down the beach, no problem. The resort was well maintained and what made it special were the iguanas, coatis etc. wandering around, minding their own business. They were lovely! The rooms were clean and spacious enough, but standard rooms were lacking a full length mirror. The wristband room keys were excellent, no need to worry about forgetting the key! We enjoyed the Mexican restaurant and liked to pop over to Mike’s cafe to get a coffee. The buffet was ok but the selection was getting a bit boring after a while, especially at lunchtime. And breakfast times were sometimes very busy. But we loved the fresh fruits and fruit juices. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all we enjoyed ourselves and were very happy that we had chosen this hotel.

Went here with a large group of friends. Had a 10/10 experience. The place is amazing. I completely understand why people go back. Thank you Ocean Maya for an incredible trip. The resort and staff are absolutely great. Hope to see you again!!

Great stay
We enjoyed our stay! It was our second time at Ocean Maya Royale. Kenddell is the heartbeat of that hotel! The Hacienda is a good restaurant for lunch by the pool. The hotel is small which makes it easy to walk around and find seats. There’s a beautiful lagoon close (10 min walk). The staff is nice.
