    Can't wait to come back.

My husband and I are sitting at the airport, so sad for our departure from OCT. It has been years since we last visited and we enjoyed every moment of our stay. Our highlights, Luis (our butler) was super attentive and really kept us updated through WhatsApp. Riccardo at the El Beso pool ran his behind off taking care of everyone and remembering our favorites all week. Jesus and Angel in the Priviledge bar always delivered the best drinks even when I didn't know what I wanted. Juan at the Chill Bar Pool made the best shots and kept the drinks flowing. Also, Don't miss out on the classes by El Beso pool with Jesus (from Priviledge), they are fun and enjoyable. It really is a great resort. We love our time here and can't wait to come back.

    Mixed thoughts

My partner and I stayed at Ocean Coral & Turquesa for 6 nights. I have rated the experience as a 4, but I would lean more towards 3 1/2, as I feel we had mixed feelings about the resort. First off, the resort is quite a ways off the main highway, so be prepared for a bit of a longer and bumpy way to the resort entrance. The resort itself is beautiful and well kept. I liked how it wasn't a super huge resort and had an easy layout. We did not have the privilege perks (different package), but still enjoyed the access to the main pools. We spent most of our time at the pools, as unfortunately the seaweed build up and the brown colour (on some days) prevented us from going into the ocean. However, we were prepared for that possibility, due to the season. Overall, we enjoyed the food- our favourite being the buffet for breakfast, coffee and treats at Mike's Cafe, the smoothie bar by the pool, and lunch at Villa Marina. We found the servers and hotel staff in general very friendly, however, the person in charge of welcoming and promoting a breakfast to sell the 'privledge'/timeshare information about the hotel I found to have a pushy and aggressive vibe. I felt very uncomfortable after we said no to the breakfast, feeling attacked by our decision. That experience left a bad note and I wanted to avoid him for the rest of the stay. In terms of our room, we had a junior suite on the ground floor. Upon entering, we noticed a big puddle of water beside the toilet. We assumed that it was either from the shower (which was separated by a glass wall beside it) or a leak from the toilet. My partner ended up wiping it up and I also let the front desk know. They said that they would send someone to take a look at it. Not sure if they ended up doing that, as we didn't want to wait around. It seems like the water issue was most likely coming from the shower, as each time we took one, water would spill out onto the floor. It was very disappointing to have that issue and clean up, especially with the high expectations for the hotel and the amount we paid. The room over time also had a damp smell, also expected with the humidity, but still wasn't always pleasant thing to come back to. Another warning is that because the resort is located amongst a jungle/swampy area, there are mosquitoes. Mosquitoes were another thing in our room that we had to deal with. We found ourselves using repellent and swatting at them every night. The mixed review comes due to everything stated above. From reading other reviews, it sounds like a more favourable experience comes with the privilege experience. However, it is still not acceptable to be entering your room with water issues and clean up. Looking back, we could of asked for a different room but who knows if that would of been attended too after also reading other reviews. Overall, the hotel grounds and services were good, but I would think again when booking a room.

Nice, if you don't want to leave the resort

Nice resort, but I wouldn't return. The resort is well-kept and nice buildings. You're trapped 30 km in from the highway with no shuttle. The resort has a contract with a cab company who charges you outrageous cab fees to get anywhere. They don't want you to take uber, though it's a quarter of the cost of cabs. The resort also tries and talk you out of taking collectivos along the highway. The timeshare/club salesmen (who is called a concierge at this resort) was arrogant and pushy. One of the Doormen tried to aggressively get me to accept free taxi vouchers for going to their timeshare presentation. They also called my room every morning until I met with the timeshare salesman. People who I talked to, who went to the timeshare/ hotel-club presentation, said it was 'traumatizing'. Food in restaurants was very good overall. A few excellent meals. Buffet was average, though breakfast was good. Food quality wasn't higher then a four star. If you like a nice, clean resort, where you don't want to leave the resort, and don't mind the pushy timeshare salesmen, then this is the one for you. Wifi was great though. I wouldn't go back. Not having a shuttle and not promoting uber was really lame. It was really irritating trying to find transportation to and from the hotel, and not wanting to pay $60 usd each way to Playa Del Camen or the Airport. Overall, we had a nice, super expensive time in the area.

    The Mixologist

The Resort has facilities for all ages. Staff are ever so helpful and pleasant. I participated in the Aquafit classes and lived them. Beach is sandy. Room was spacious with a comfortable bed and a lovely, clean bathroom. We had a group session with Jonathan, the Mixologist, who created a cocktail specifically with us in mind and taught us to make it - a unique pineapple halopena creation that was simply delicious. He is very knowledgeable as to the cocktails that he creates and he makes his own mixers as their base. Simply marvellous.
