Two week stay at Occidental Tamarindo
This resort had beautiful flora and fauna. The hotel itself could use some upgrades. Staff were friendly but not always available. Not sure if this is the country itself as we have stayed at other Barcelo's and there were more staff available. A little more detail could be paid to the cleanliness of the rooms and outside the outside tables. This was our first trip to Costa Rica and it was great but not sure I would stay so far out of Liberia. We did a few excursions and the drive was always 1.5-2 hrs to get there. All in all, a great trip.

Great resort for the money.
This was the third time we have stayed at this resort. We noticed that this year, they were very understaffed and this affected several things like getting food and drinks. We love the property and location and the staff that are working there, but there were many times we waited in line for drinks and to get food at the buffet, etc. Also the food quality has declined some - not as much variety - almost the same thing every day. But for the price, it is worth it. Also, since it is so close to town, it is great to be able to go there and be able to experience the local people and culture. We took an excursion to the rain forest which was really nice. Also the room was excellent - they just need to work on the WiFi service. Again, enjoyed our stay, but could tell they are slipping a little.

Nice concept - poor execution
We were excited for this part of our visit to Costa Rica but the resort made it our least favorite part of our trip. It was off to a not great start when we were given conflicting information at check in. We had less towels in our rooms than people and every time we would fix it, they would take them again the next day. The food quality was so bad we ended up eating off resort most meals. Most of the staff outside of the bar were not friendly. We did enjoy the location. The pool was nice, the beach was nice with a gorgeous sunset. The town it was in was very touristy but had good fun and fun things to do.

Friendly staff but not enough
If you don't expect much, you won't be disappointed. Reception staff were very good but the check in policy sucks. Location is OK, pool is nice and beach is great. Understaffed in bar and buffet areas. Staff works hard but not enough of them.

Holiday
The stay was good would have liked more to do at resort. Travel to tours was difficult and long. Wished for closer activity
