Overrated Hotel
This hotel is extremely overrated, despite having a good waterpark. The rooms, waterpark, and lobby are separated, requiring a shuttle to get to the rooms. Other than the meet-and-greets with the characters, there's nothing noteworthy. The price per night for two adults and two kids is $1000, which is not worth it. The room location was good, with direct pool access, but the room itself was very cramped with a table, separated walls, and tight spaces. The walls and floor were constantly wet due to condensation, the bed was moist, and the bed linens smelled bad. This hotel is a 3-star establishment at best.

Don’t go to the Exotic Membership Presentations
I would like to point out that the one star review is for the the terrible sales team and Exotic Membership with their questionable sales tactics. On the last day at our stay at Nickelodeon, we got convinced by our concierge to go to an Exotic Membership Presentation - this was presented to us as an opportunity to save $245 on character breakfast for 1 one adult ($130) and one kid ($115). Because yes, you hear that right! At supposedly all inclusive hotel, you need to pay extra if you want to attend the character breakfast - it was $130 per adult and $115 per kid. We were told that the presentation will be 90 minutes - NO pressure and no commitment so were why not. However, this presentation turned out into 5 hours high pressure sale where we were rushed into signing a membership contract we instantly regretted. The contract provided for 5 business days to cancel which is also guaranteed by Mexican Consumer Protection law. However, although we exercised our right to cancel in writing within the 5 business days, Exotic is refusing to issue refund because we have used a benefit (free massage and store credit offered as a “gift” for signing the contract). This itself is illegal and not allowed as Mexican law provides that consumers have 5 business days to cancel a contract and this right can’t be waived even if the contract has provisions suggesting otherwise. This alone shows how unethical the Exotic sales team is. Please don’t go to these meetings unless you are ready to spend thousands on a resort membership contract that many members have reported issues using. I am still fighting every day to get my money back as I rightfully exercised my right and cancelled the membership contract. This terrible experience ruined my vacation experience. And conveniently the sales person Alejandra stopped responding, and her manager Daniel who sold us the membership said he doesn’t work there anymore!! Also, if you meet Alejandra or Daniel, run away as fast as you can! Highly unethical people, using all sales tactics in the book to make you sign the contract. Alejandra told us that we can’t leave their office without making a decision because that “great” offer won’t be available after we leave. After research, turned out the offer they gave us wasn’t that great as at all! Please don’t waste your time with these people! The hotel itself is nice, with tons of activities for kids and toddlers. However, please note the following: We had a king oceanfront swim up suite located on the second floor. The pool in front of your suite is shared with the rooms around you. That’s not that bad but the pool is also covered in shade, doesn’t get any sunlight and the water was cold. We never used it because it’s was basically useless. There was a lot of variety of food options. However, coming from Tulum where the food was amazing, we found the food at Nickelodeon bland and a bit tasteless. The gift shops are extremely overpriced. We knew that going because of the reviews I read but having 2 year old and 4 year old, you got sucked into spending money because you walk through the gift shops to get to the water park. There is a gift shop in the main lobby and another two in the hotel building so they are everywhere. A small Marshall stuffy was $50, Sky stuffy was $75, ninja turtle dtuffy was $65 and a swimming suit for baby girl was $95!! The photography is ridiculously expensive too. We got only 4 photos for $90 and the quality of the prints was terrible. For comparison, we went to Disney last year and it was much cheaper.

Fantastic Family Vacation at Nickelodeon Resort in Mexico
We enjoyed an incredible stay at the Nickelodeon Resort in Mexico, and I can’t say enough good things about it. I went with my 7-year-old, and we both had such a great time! The entertainment staff truly stood out — they were so personable and engaging. By our second day, they already knew my child’s name and went out of their way to make sure we were always having a great experience. Their energy and friendliness made a big impact on our trip. I really appreciated how bilingual the staff was. All announcements for games, shows, and activities were done in both English and Spanish, which made everything easy to follow and inclusive for all guests. The food was great with plenty of options for both kids and adults. Room service was just okay — it arrived late one day when we were out on an excursion, but that was a minor issue overall. The cleaning staff, maintenance team, and concierge were all fantastic — always checking in and making sure everything was in order. The beach is beautiful, but there wasn’t much to do there in terms of activities. That said, the pools and waterpark more than made up for it — tons of fun for kids and adults alike! I’d recommend bringing your own water toys and floaties, especially for younger kids, as those aren’t provided and the gift shop is pretty pricey. If you're looking for a fun, family-friendly vacation spot with top-notch service and entertainment, this resort is a great choice. We’re already looking forward to our next trip back!

Absolutely incredible experience!
Just got back from 5 nights here and have to say it is hands down the best option for a vacation with kids! We traveled with our 2 kids and family that also had 2 kids, the 4 kids were aged 2-9. Each aspect of the trip was really fantastic in its own way: Hotel The hotel room was so incredibly comfortable and clean - the room is the perfect size for 2 adults and 2 littles, especially with the murphy bed and sofa so that they didn't have to share a bed with us! Plus, the 2nd bathroom was clutch when both kids needed to potty first thing in the morning. All the rooms facing the beach meant that we were able to watch the sunrise every morning, with some mornings spent in the infinity pool. As a testament to their training and attention to detail, I had forgotten to remove the Do Not Disturb sign after ordering some room service - the staff person that brought the food DID NOT KNOCK ON THE DOOR! Instead, he called down to the room service desk to call the room to let me know they had arrived - just amazing. Food We are vegetarian and were able to find food at every single establishment on the resort. The buffets were always well stocked and never seemed to be running out of things. The live stations for omelets & crepes in the morning or pasta for lunch were a big hit. At all of the restaurants, they accommodated our substitutions for vegetarian food every time we asked. Plus, almost all of the food tasted great! The best food was at Piazza, but Good Burger was nice for a change (special shout out to Billy and Pablo for amazing service), and Le Spatula had endless breakfast options. Definitely give the poke bowls at Aqua Bites a try too! We definitely did not go hungry and the kids were always fed as well. Oh and don't skip out on the 6th floor coffee shop with views of the mangrove; Irwin pours a great espresso and its such a serene scene to enjoy a pastry over. Attractions/Waterpark The beach isn't really there anymore, so won't be able to comment on that but there is a small strip of sand available for some small sand castle building. That sand was always clean and raked, so we felt good about the kids digging in it. The waterpark was fantastic, wading pools and slides for all ages and adventure levels. Make sure to participate in the public sliming....its something else. I was impressed with the safety precautions and the sheer number of lifeguards everywhere - you were definitely safe on all of the attractions. Characters/Entertainment team Our kids were in heaven seeing all of their favorite characters, from the Paw Patrol to Dora to SpongeBob. The characters were always on time, per the schedule, and the entertainment team did a great job of ushering the line without rushing any specific family. They always took video and photos with our phones, so we weren't reliant on the resort photographer. Additionally, they engaged with the kids in line to reduce the boredom. Absolutely incredible! Other activities We became regulars at the various Kids Zones across the resort and it was seriously the most amazing thing - they had toys, slides, and crafts for the kids to do, including a kid kitchen to make things like fruit skewers. And the staff there knew our kids names after the first day, they played with them like they had known them forever. Everyone at all 3 locations were great, but huge huge shout out to Gabi, Liz, and Eduardo for going above and beyond every time we saw them. Other The shuttle service from the airport was very professional and easy to figure out - we wanted car seats for our kids, and they were installed and ready to go for the roundtrip. The concierge was very helpful and responsive over Whatsapp for every question I had. We thought we were going to run out of something for the kids that wasn't sold on resort, the concierge connected us to a local pharmacy that delivered - made everything easier knowing that I had that support if we needed anything at all! All in all, the resort exceeded all my expectations and I highly recommend it to those travelling with kids!

Best. Vacation. Ever. Definitely Kid heaven!
Best. Vacation. Ever. Overall, we had a blast at the Nickelodeon Resort in Maya Riviera. We went with our two kiddos, age 4.5 and 2.5, as well as my brother, sister in law, and their two kiddos, age 9.5 and 5.5. All four kids had the best time of their lives. I will break my review down into the following categories: things to do, food, and hotel. Things to do: There was so much to do! There were big water slides for the 9 year old to enjoy (as well as us parents!) Mid size slides for the kindergartner and preschooler, as well as splash areas for the toddler. When the sun got too much for us, we hung out in the Kids Club area, which was indoor. Gabi, Edwardo, and Liz were three of the people at Kids Club that really went above and beyond with our kids (but ALL of the staff were amazing!). They did crafts with the kids (on the schedule you can see what is happening at what time). They were always so friendly and helping the kids complete the crafts, giving them the perfect blend of autonomy and direction. Additionally, there were so many different characters to meet! My kids are really into the paw patrol, so we made sure to meet Skye, Rocky, Rubble, Zuma, Everest, and Chase! We also were able to meet all 4 teenage mutant ninja turtles, Blue from Blues Clues, Aang, Dora, and Boots! The lines were never long and the staff were so great at taking pics with your phone, so you have the memories of the trip. Food: The food was really great. What we loved the most were the live stations at Le Spatula for breakfast. You could pick your ingredients for an omelette and they would make it for you right there, or a crepe or a smoothie! It was all so tasty and fresh. We also loved the pizzaria, where the kids had pizza almost every night for dinner! Billy and Pablo at Good Burger also always kept fresh fries coming for the kids. Also, there was room service available, so if a kiddo needed a nap, we were still able to get food to our room, which was so clutch! Hotel stay: I was so impressed with the room! Every room has ocean views and an infinity pool attached to the room. See picture of sunrise from our balcony attached! I have never been in an infinity pool before, which felt like the ultimate level of luxury! Being able to wake up and take a swim before breakfast was fantastic. We also had rooms next to each other, so the kids were able to have cousin time in the pools in the morning. Additionally, there was a coffee shop on the 6th (top) floor that had amazing greenery, overlooking the forests, and serene music, where we went to have a cup of joe and a croissant with the kids, which felt like paradise. Irwin, the barista, was always so pleasant making me an almond milk latte in the mornings. I highly recommend visiting. It might feel like a lot of money up front, but then once you are there, you really don't have to spend extra money. A lot of other resorts have a lot of "hidden" costs, which this did not have! While they do have professional photography at the resort, the staff takes great photos from your phone, so you don't have to buy those, as you will have amazing photos with the characters on your phone to print. There are things you can do for additional costs, but if you don't want to, there is so much to do included in your stay.
