Terrible experience - I don't recommend at all
We visited this hotel based on a family that visited and loved the place plus had very positive reviews HOWEVER we were extremely underwhelmed! This was our first visit to Cozumel and expected more based on the reviews. The things that failed in our opinion: -Seaweed was AWFUL! It was 15 feet deep when were there. The staff did their best to work on it but was so far gone they barely made a dent in it during our 5 day stay. There was a guest that was out there every day with a rake trying to make a path from the beach to the water. There is no reason a guest should be doing that! Also, due to seaweed, no water sports were offered :( -Reservations are required for dinner and beach/pool seating -Upgrade to Level NOT worth it - the staff seemed put out the 2 days we went to make reservations for dinner. They didn't provide us any information or assistance on the hotel. Waste of money. The upgraded room was nice but because Seaweed was bad that is what we looked at -No place to get ice -Lobby bar doesn't open until 5 pm -Pool bar doesn't open until 10am so if you want a water or soda have to wait until then or go to buffet bar -I don't expect gourmet food but this food was terrible, didn't matter if it was breakfast or a special dinner, no flavor and poor options -The buffet offered the same options night after night and the buffet was small -Some staff only nice if you speak Spanish -To say there is nightly entertainment is a joke, their is 1 person in charge of entertainment so it is very lacking -No idea what or where entertainment was each night - sign in elevators but location was in Spanish on sign -No daily information shared like what the activities or nightly entertainment is -Bars beed drink menus even if a scannable QR code -Melia app is terrible, dont waste your time to download it -They offer all sorts of extra food options but you have to pay, even for just a pizza -You cant charge stuff from gift shop to room -Norma in the gift shop was very rude, followed my husband and I around like we were going to steal stuff, didn't like us touching the tshirts -Concierge guy was rude, after 2 days of trying to ask him for guidance on things to do we just started googling. His job is to be helpful but he wasn't Things we liked: Servers: Lupe, Omar, Antonio, Mediterranean server (angel?) Pool staff: Diego, Ian, Lillian, Santo Great assortment of top shelf liquor Iguanas are huge and cool to watch Grounds well maintained but adult pool was dirty

Not a culinary delight!
Be sure you understand what the "Level" is. If you pay extra you can sit in certain chairs, and even use the poolside snack bar! The food is boring. You must make reservations for the 3 restaurants which are all small and underutilized. Food in Mole Taco and Mole Mexico was not good. Buffet had very nice fruit and omelets. Rooms are very nice with beautiful views and comfortable beds. Due to strong winds from the north there was copious seaweed along the beach, obviously beyond control of the hotel. We watched people labor every day with pitchforks to remove the debris, and by week's end the beach looked much better. Except for the lack of explanation and poor communication at check in, the personnel were all exceptionally pleasant. Be sure to visit the barrier reef and the eastern shore to appreciate the beauty of Cozumel.

Perfect vacation for our family of 5!
We had such a wonderful experience at Melia. We’re a family of 5 and everyone had such a great time. The staff here really go nice and beyond! Highly recommend.

Highly recommend
We had an amazing time at the Melia! All the staff were friendly and just exceptional. Diego and Santos were phenomenal at the pool given the amount of people being served. We were always taken care of. Our concierge, Santiago made sure we had reservations every night for dinner and that we were well stocked in our room everyday. We HIGHLY recommend this resort and will most definitely come back again, but for more than 7 days.
