We booked this hotel for my birthday and we were really looking forward to it However we are very disappointed We booked direct with the hotel and we were not made aware at the time of booking or at any time later that the hotel has major building works going on. During the day the drilling and banging is very noisy. It’s hard to sit by the pool and chat and relax. Complaining to Carmen who said she was the Customer Service Manager did nothing. I explained we were misled and we had paid a lot of money but she wasn’t bothered. No apology or refund or reduction- nothing. Despite her response to another review on this site we categorically refute that we were given any indication of the building works at anytime before we arrived. If she responds to this review saying we were told then she is not telling the truth. She asked if we wanted a room change but this was not about the room. It was all about the disruptive noise and disturbance during the day. My advice is cancel if you want a peaceful relaxing holiday. The works are far from finished as you will see from the pictures and are not likely to finish any time soon.

We’re here for a week in this beautiful hotel to relax and re-charge our batteries. My reason for writing this while still here is to provide some reassurance for those guests who are still yet to arrive and may feel nervous after reading some recent reviews that have mentioned some refurbishment work that’s been taking place. We were in this position ourselves before arrival. From our own perspective and experience, the work that is taking place is around the other side of this hotel from where we have been staying and hasn’t really impacted us at all. To put things in perspective, outside the hotel is a road (like so many along this coastline in this part of Spain) in front of the beach so, there’s a vibrancy about this part of Torremolinos that feels entirely normal considering location. You may occasionally hear a little low level activity, but nothing out of the ordinary. So, the hotel itself is beautiful - rooms etc look in a very good state of repair and decoration and keep very clean and tidy by the staff who all work so hard. Lovely food in the restaurant - both breakfast and evening, with a great variety of dishes to suit all tastes. The pool area is great as is the rooftop bar area which is a stunning place to relax over a nice cold beer and some bar snacks. Most important of all, all the staff throughout the Melia are all friendly, polite and helpful right from checking in (a very friendly and welcoming lady) to all the others we’ve encountered. The hotel is very well situated, close to the beach (love the view from our balcony) and is an easy ride into Malaga for those who want to visit. So, overall, really delighted with our choice of this hotel and will definitely want to return soon. I have no hesitation in recommending to others.

Fab holiday in gorgeous hotel
Wonderful hotel..spotlessly clean .fantastic view to sea..food excellent..entertainment was fab and a god send for us as due to accident to knee couldn't go far..the hotel staff were excellent and very caring in this regard arranging doctor . Ice and wheelchair..thank you all very much.will definitely holiday here again .

Excellent hotel & Great location.
We are staying in the Melia at the moment to celebrate our wedding anniversary. First of all I'd like to address the building work that is in progress. Yes, there is some slight noise from the final phase of the renovations, we have a sea & pool view room 1773, so we're opposite the Level wing which is being refurbished, but it isn't at all intrusive. Our room is bright, airy & immaculately clean.. We've visited all 3 restaurants The Beach, Sky & Sea & the main buffet restaurant & we're impressed with the service & food presentation in all of them. The reception staff couldn't be more helpful & informative & have answered all our queries. We love the roof level pool, which has great views & is a perfect place to enjoy a cocktail in the late afternoon. We have another week here & hope the weather remains as good as our first 7 days.(with only 1 rainy Sunday) Our only disappointment is that we aren't able to upgrade to the Level/ Lounge as it doesn't open until early April when sadly we return home. Comfortable, hassle-free, clean, engaging and friendly hotel with superb staff. We shall come back to visit you again.
We visited this hotel in March 2025 and had a mixture of weather - sun, rain, wind and a generally cool breeze. The hotel is very comfortable and has excellent facilities. It is a large hotel with about 500 rooms over 9 floors in 2 blocks. The pools at roof level and also at ground level between the blocks are clean, well serviced and comfortable. We visited 3 of the restaurants (Main dining room. Beach and Sky & Sea) and also had some room service. I rate the food as excellent in terms of variety, presentation and taste. The service is impeccable and the staff are very engaging and always cheerful. The hotel group should be complimented on the quality of its staff training programme. We had to extend our stay as my wife needed some brief hospitalisation - the staff could not do enough for us to ease our difficult situation and were very accommodating for our changed needs. We shall certainly come back again to visit.
