Quality hotel in downtown Athens
High quality room and hotel in a central location in Athens - the staff were all very friendly and helpful in terms of advice. It’s an easy 20 min walk down to the central monuments and just 5 mins from the fabulous archaeological museum: the metro is only 5 mins away too, handy if you want to use it for the airport as I did. The fact it’s not on the main tourist drag also means you’ve got some great cheap neighbourhood restaurants nearby, especially Stoa Allios round the corner or on nearby Themistikleous - don’t miss going right up to Exarchia Square (yes, there’s graffiti everywhere, but so what?).

Great location and a quality hotel
The hotel is very well located for Omonoia Metro which is a great way to navigate the City. Just over 8 Euros for a 5 day pass. We had a Supreme VIP room on the 8th floor which was very well appointed with a jacuzzi bath. Servicing was slightly haphazard in that we experienced a daily maid service in the morning with water being replenished in a litre bottle - water not replenished on two mornings, and only 3 evening/downturn service. All staff are very polite. Breakfast room is slightly compact but food is plentiful. Lift service can be slow at busy times but not unreasonable. We used the small but functional gym every day. You need to book the sauna/steam room but after 6pm it was often empty. Pool was closed due to low season but we did sit on the roof top and views to the Acropolis are great. We also had meals twice in Cafe Mondo, which was very good. As a Supreme guest we were given 20% off food. There is a lovely supermarket about 5 mins walk if you want good fruit and snacks. There is some traffic noise at night but it is a very busy City, so to be expected. Can highly recommend a visit to the nearby Hellenic Motor Museum about 10 mins from the hotel, when you need a break from all the other attractions. The City is very beautiful in parts but highly polluted - need more electric vehicles for sure. The hotel is a great base for your holiday.

Exceptional Stay
My stay at Melia Athens was truly wonderful. The hotel is conveniently located, just a 10-minute walk from the city center. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and the bathroom was beautifully designed. The staff provided outstanding service, consistently being attentive to our needs. A metro station is only a 2-minute walk away, adding to the convenience. Additionally, there is a lovely bar where guests can relax and enjoy a drink. Although the rooftop pool was closed during our off-season visit, it is a great feature of the hotel. Overall, it was a fantastic stay in Athens. Thank you very much.

Please avoid the location is in a bad area of Athens.
The location of this hotel is not a good area according to the taxi drivers and general opinion. I didn’t feel safe walking around. The hotel’s air conditioning did not switch on and after many complaints they provided a fan. The main reason is that the hotel only switches their air conditioning well into the summer. The pool was unusable due to Greek laws and when the hotel is able to let guests use it.

Good hotel to base yourself in Athens
Me and my wife where in Athens for a football match between Greece and Scotland, and both of us had really wanted to see Athens for many years (our only trip to Greece had been to Rhodes back in 2008) and were not going to pass up a chance to see the city. Athens is a strange set up of a city, as what you would consider the centre of the city is not what the locals consider it to be, and none of the hotels near the tourist attractions were taking my fancy. After searching around we were both hooked on the Melia Hotel. Located a stones throw from Omonoia Square, and with good metro access, it suited our needs. Only real disappointment was the roof top pool and bar does not open until May, but we went for a look one night and the view of Athens was really stunning. We arrived at Athens Airport around noon, and while there was public transport options, the price of a Uber was only 10 Euros more than the Metro, and in the heavy afternoon Athens traffic it took us 50 minutes or so to get to the hotel from the airport. Lovely modern hotel, and staff are excellent who will help to get you checked in to your room in no time. My initial thoughts were that the hotel felt more dated than the pictures and photos let on, and yet it didn't have a bad feel about it, and almost a retro feel to it. Room was very spacious with a nice large bed. Only issue was that for March, the room did seem to get very warm no matter the time of day, and the AC seemed to have very little effect, as well as being rather noisy. Area around the hotel can be a little to be desired, as you only need to walk down a street or two and suddenly you are in a area full of Communist and Anarchist Bars, which I found rather cool at first, but at night time the charm does ware off fast. Breakfast was a real plus, as while not a large selection, there is plenty of options that you will get something to your taste, and the kitchen staff keep it coming, so its always hot. For exploring the city, you are probably a 20-25 minute walk to the likes of Monastiraki Square and Syntagma, but also you are only 1 or 2 metro stops from all the major tourist attractions in the city. All in all really pleased with this hotel and would certainly make it my choice of accommodation for any future visits to Athens.
