    Mostly good a pleasant stay

A great hotel, which was very clean and comfortable. The amenities and bars were lively and fun. Welcoming and friendly staff were at all the venues. There are two members of staff that need a special mention. Firstly Baldo , who works in The Landshark bar. What a great guy so full of enthusiasm and knowledge about Mexico. He gave us lots of information about where he has been and the best places to visit. We will be back! Secondly, I would like to mention Leah , who gave me the best massage when I visited the spar. Unfortunately on the slight downside the food is not as good as I I’d hoped for. It is on the bland side.Nothing I ate made me say, “that’s lovely.” That being said, there was plenty of choice. One thing I found irksome was different music being played outside at different pools. It all sounded jumbled up.

Nice Hotel, Isolated and a night mare of a road to get to it!!!

This is a review of 2 British people, husband and wife in our early 60’s who stayed for 2 weeks in October. I say this as a lot of the reviews are from American Guests. The first thing to add is that we do not get a Butler… you only have these if you are a member/have a Time Share. ROAD TO THE RESORT/RESORT ITSELF The resort is in the middle of no where and so there is no where to go out and walk, so the only way to get around is in Car. The road to the Resort is an absolute nightmare, pot holes (craters really, fully of water), this was a hair raising experience, one which we would not like to repeat!! STAFF/SERVICE All staff here are a credit to the Hotel, they are always, happy, smiling and can not do enough to help. When we arrived we asked for food in the Land Shark, but service had finished. However, many, many thanks to Aaron in Land Shark, who went above and beyond, he ordered 2 room service burgers for us to eat in the Bar Another special mention goes to Luis who was a great and friendly waiter in the Steak Restaurant and Alaine who mixed the most amazing cocktails in the Salted Rim. Although, at times, we did feel that us Brits took second place to the American Guests and we think it was because they tip all the time (as they were on short stays), we did tip, but not until the end of our 2 week holiday. BEACH There is no beach, it’s a simple as that! The Hotel claim they are working hard to get the beach back, but we doubt they ever had one as the resort goes right up to the sea, in fact, the sea has eroded some of the Hotel walls. When the tide is out, you can walk down the steps and jump onto the beach (you have to be agile though), you can only walk a few Hotels along before you reach some mangroves with a sign warning you to keep out. To be honest, its not a very pleasant beach, the sea is dirty and full of sea weed. RESORT The resort is stunning, very clean, well thought out and laid out. There is nothing to fault here and its immaculate and clean. ROOM We had a swim up room which was amazing, the room was decorated beautifully, in keeping with the resort itself, very large with Fridge, a noisy coffee machine, large TV, Settee and a very large bed. There was a very large shower – one complaint from me (only a minor one), the bathroom being so large with his and hers basins lacked any shelving or a unit it which to store toiletries. FOOD We were not really fans of the themed evenings, where we all did self service in the Restaurant. We liked all the speciality restaurants or the evenings at the main restaurant where we were served. All snack bars, including Land Shark and room service served amazing lunches, the food in Land Shark in the evening was good too. DRINKS The white and red wine was good as was the local beer, these are also served at meal times. The cocktails in the Salted Rim were amazing, it was a great atmosphere and a special mention has to go to Alain who was a Wizz at making cocktails. The coffee was, also good from Joe Merchants as was the snacks from there. ENTERTAINMENT Like many Hotels, this can be mixed, some good, some not so good. It took place in the Land Shark and if you were unfortunate not to get a seat near the stage, you ended up sitting on the side where the acoustics were not very good. Also, we did not always want to sit in the main area as the Air Conditioning was really blowing out cold air which made us cold! The Americans like their Karaoke (but we think they are the only ones!), plus there was a Silent Disco (I think that most of the American’s there), did not appreciate the concept and were anything but silent! One lady singer sang the hole night in Spanish, and it seems that no one had a clue what she was singing. TOILETS The ones inside the resort were spotless and very high quality. However, outside down near the main pool to the right and left there are toilets on each side. These are NOT very good. The damp seems to have gotten to the wooden doors as a result they do not close, so you can not lock any of them. At one time, the toilets were not flushing and there was no running water - not nice so I avoided them. All in all, we had a great holiday, we met some lovely people, English and American’s alike. We loved the foam party, the 5 O’clock bar, entertainment in Land Shark (sometimes). The resort it very American based (food and drinks), which is to be expected as its not too far for them so many visit. We will not be back, as the resort is very isolated, no where to walk and the roads to get to it are an absolute night mare and scary at times (especially as it had rained hard and were more like lakes).

    Small and friendly. 5 Stars.

Great resort, small and friendly. All the food has been great and for a small resort there were so many options. The mixologists at Salted Rim were unbelievable. Angel and Gibran were so fun. Our butlers Isaac and Mariel were on top of everything.

Excellent service and a great vacation

We visited November 2024 and had a great time. The property was new and was very well maintained. The food was well prepared, the drinks cold and the service was fantastic. Stay narrative: We were ushered to the members lounge for check in and went through the normal process of checking in without any issues. The margarita popcicle was just ok flavor wise, but is a nice touch for the resort. We sat for lunch at the License to Chill bar and had a snack and were shown to our rooms. Everything was great. The aesthetic carries through with teal and white and all feels very clean. The room has a glass wall in the shower, but no fear there is a screen if you would want to feel less exposed. The water is really hot. though sometimes I could feel it kick over to another feed and the water would be warmer than when I started. Def 1st world problems to have enough hot water. The A/C in the room was probably one of the best in a hotel in the RM that I have stayed in. the room was always comfortable and never swampy (keep your door closed so it stays that way). The resort side glass is well insulated, but the hallway side doors tend to close fast and loudly. If you are in a busy hall, you may hear the doors slam off and on throughout your stay. My overall impression is this is a nice hotel with a grand courtyard with several pools and food options. It doesn't feel too cozy like a resort, but that is a personal preference. The pools are nice, well maintained, there are ample chair loungers and a handful of bali beds. In the terraced area by the pool there are palm trees providing some shade and away from that area, plenty of umbrellas for you to manage the sun. There is generally good music, more country and pop playing and the entertainment work to get people engaged in volleyball and trivia and water athletics. I don't think I recall the two ladies names, but they were very kind. One even subbed for the stretching class when the instructor failed to show, so they 100% are engaged and committed to their jobs and working for their guests. The pool butlers were busy and brought our drinks regularly. I don't think they were overserving anyone. No issues with filling up insulated cups from the guests. We did like the gym, it is well stocked with equipment and has some free weights, machines, treadmills and ellipticals. As noted earlier, the stretch class was great, though we only were able to make it 2x We did order room service for breakfast and other than it being a bit later than ordered on our last day making us a tad nervous (arrived with time to eat it, 3:30 am for 7 am flight) the two times it was ordered it was cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. I do think the pancake batter was a tad overmixed, but again. I didn't have to cook so it was fine for me! We ate breakfast at the boathouse several times and through several of the themed nights as well. The sushi bar was tasty and fun, the mexican night was filled with typical fare and felt fresh. Nothing was stale on the displays and the fruits ripe and desserts were a step up from normal desserts we have had at other stays. In general the coffee wasn't as good as previous visits to mexico, but could have just been the roast. We drink decaf and one waitress i believe went to Joe Merchants and got us hot lattes, they were delicious and better than the pot coffee there. Dinner at JWB steak house was fine, the bartender made a delicious martini for me so good on him! The waiter Jimi made the evening a lot of fun. Frank and Lolas was good too! We wanted to go back but didn't have time in our stay to. One of the best things, I think, in the MVIR brands is the coffee bar at Joe Merchants. I think overall the point system for mixers is annoying and you have to walk by 2-3 bars to go get it so may as well have them make you a drink, but compared to another stay at MVIR C, the store seems lightly stocked. But back to the coffee. Its delicious there and better than anything you can get at starbucks and is included! The landshark was a nice place to eat, the onion rings are delicious. I also tried the mussels over fries, and the wings. I did feel bad about eating the wings even though they were tasty. The meat portion of the drumstick was as big as the last digit of my pinky finger. If you don't mind the impact on the lives of baby chickens, order 2! They did play monday night football so if you are up for the game, they will make it a good night for you. Saving the best for last. We had two butlers helping us for the extent of our stay. Enrique and Joaquin. I can't say enough. they checked on us every day. Let us know the activities and arranged our dining reservations. They surprised us with a beautifully decorated room and a drawn bubble bath. When I inquired about a local drink from vera cruz and if the bar could make it, Joaquin took the time to find the ingredients and make it from scratch for me! They were both extraordinarily kind and selfless and worked very hard to make our stay amazing. Of all things it was there service which would bring us back to this resort. As an aside to Karisma/Prestige Travelers only - Vacationers need not worry, you[ll have a great time. We had booked through the Prestige Travelers call center as Exotic Members. If they continue to allow us to book through them, it is possible we'll be back, or visit MVIR - RC. We are sad that Azul and MVIR - CC are off the books now. The drama of the breakup between ET and PT has unfortunately impacted their vacation club members more than it should. I hope that they'll reconsider their decision to not let us book at their resort. There are plenty of vacation options who will say yes to us, and we will take our vacation dollars where they are wanted. We respect your decision to shut off access, as it's your right to, but I think negative changes w/r/t previous and return guests hurt the brand more than the cost of sustaining relationships through the break.
