Not what we expected!
My wife and I booked this resort based on the raving reviews we found on the Majestic web site, not here on Tripadvisor. We should have checked more reviews. We expected a polished, 5 star resort experience. Not sure if it's because of COVID changes to staff performance, probably is - but our high end "inclusive resort" expectations are going to have to be revised. We stayed at the Colonial side, there is another side "adult only" and even higher end than that, but we figured the 5 star rating for the "Junior suite" would be more than satisfactory given how much time you spend in your actual room. What we didn't expect was what we ended up with. We got into the room late, (Pool side, mistake #1) - after 11:00 pm, so we were in bed as soon as we arrived. About an hour or so into our attempt to fall asleep, we realized the sheets, pillows and pillow cases all smelled of sour milk and sweat. The room itself was rank with the smell of mold. It wasn't subtle either. The blankets on the bed were thin, just a sheet and a very thin polyester thicker sheet. When we let the front desk know the following morning that our bedding was not clean and the room had a strong mold odor, we were met with a very irritated employee "Woodly" who told me to go sit down and he'd deal with it. He was rude, and dismissive and treated our frustration of a very uncomfortable first night like a terrible inconvenience to him. He told us to come back to the desk at 3:00 and he would "have new room keys" for a new room. When we came back at 3, he asked where our luggage was? We said in the room - he said I told you to bring your luggage. No - he didn't but why would we? Turns out the new room was directly beside the one we already had. Good thing we didn't lug all our stuff to the other side of the resort where the front desk is located only to have to lug it all back (or of course tip someone to do it for us!) It really didn't get better from there - Guest services tried to smooth it over, the second room was just as bad and we moved to the "Garden" view room which is just overlooking a very loud and busy service road used by the resort staff vehicles and machinery. The room smelled much better and had clean bedding, and was much better set up with face cloths, towels and toilet paper. The balcony overlooked a very loud service road, so that wasn't' fun but we weren't moving again. Problem here though was our sheets were dribbled with fresh blood from either the worker who made the bed up or AGAIN the sheets were not changed for new guests. We have photos of the fresh drips of blood on the sheets and pillows, and we showed Guest Services who were apologetic, but can't do anything about it. Guest Services have no authority over their maintenance and cleaning crew, that was obvious. They don't listen to anything Guest Services ask of them or tell them to do - and were loud, shouted to each other in the hallway all hours of the day and night - and really don't care about the guests. Again, COVID seems to have changed people's work ethic. We would not recommend this "5 star" restort "Colonial" side at least. The Embassy side looked much better, so if you want to perhaps "guarantee" a better experience, pay the extra and save yourself the stress and disappointment. The food was good...the service staff there do try hard. The pool was clean, lots of chairs but there are no areas to have private quiet time there at all, to read or just sit quietly. It's a very busy resort, loud and perfect for a group or anyone looking to party and enjoy a very social experience. They also have a cute little kids area with a castle and slide, kiddie pool etc.- although none of the parents used it and preferred to hang out with the kids in the area with the other adults. All in all, we would not go back and suggest if you want a clean, quiet place to unwind, this is not it. Not the week we were there anyway!

best resort
I had gone to many AI resorts ( I do not go to luxury ones), this is the best so far: practical tings that I appreciated: very fast WI FI, not beed reservations except to Le Gourmet ( having to line up to reserve resto is very annoying). Staff and services are exceptional ( look after your needs). The pool is the best, it is long and spacious, so I was able to swim while the activities go on @ another end of the long pool . Food is excellent in the restaurants, Buffet offers an abundance of seafood daily ( especially fresh fish grilled on the spot, salmon , mahi mahi etc.. Room is spacious Overall, can't beat this ( if you want more luxury, Majestic Elegance and Mirage , their lobbies are so beautiful) I will com e back to this resort , not need to look for any other option

Disappointing return visit
We have been to the resort 3x previously and loved it so much that we convinced a group of 18-20 to come with to experience how awesome the resort is. Unfortunately, during this stay everything that could've gone wrong has. I did write a review previously that listed the many issues we experiened in detail including but not limited to: lack of follow up before arrival and during, no welcome and late room check in, no butler for over a full day even though it was a paid service, not hearing from the butler consistently (including daily activites), things not being ready, constantly having to remind people for agreed upon and understood requests including medically required requests like for food allergies, non responsive/non reliable butler service (included is a typical response we received from the butler -name removed- service. Not sure what we paid for?) the rooms flooding/falling apart causing guests to be moved and losing their swim out, asking that our room NOT be fumigated because we have a baby and people still showing up to do it, none of the outlets working for multiple rooms, rooms falling apart, etc...but the hotel did try to make it up to us AFTER seeing the review online. At that point I decided to take down the review hoping that it was just bad luck on both sides but even the "make up" was not setup correctly (no one was there and we had to track down someone to remind them we were there) and the experience was not as described (the Oasis experience is 300 for two and included both lunch and dinner). They just gave us a tower with a server who was great but he was not a dedicated server so service was generally much slower then just grabbing a nearby bali bed on our colonial side where people check on you every 10-20 minutes so quite frankly pretty useless. Out of frustration because all we got was a structure rather than an experience when family asked if they could put their towels down and sit with us we said "yes sure" thinking it would be fine since we weren't getting any of the included amenities anyway. They made no orders for drinks/snacks/towels but quickly a full security team of people quite rudely started into me at which point we just packed up and left leaving the beach for the day. You don't expect perfection from an all inclusive but the lack of attention to detail is pretty sad as this used to be the best resort in punta cana to my wife and me. It may be as simple as we were at colonial rather than elegance/mirage but you would expect that if you are a multi-visit guest who has brought tens of thousands of dollars to the resort you would at least get what is supposed to be included. Rather than our yearly family trip returning we will be going somewhere else in punta Cana next year. Hopefully Majestic gets back to where they were Ultimately the beach is still beautiful and much of the staff is fantastic but it's age, low quality for food/drink, non-existent butler service, and management is not where it should be.
