    Basic. Barely any AC.

Basic hotel. The biggest draw back was the lack of appropriate AC. We even switched rooms after maintenance tried to fix it and it barely cooled. It was cooler in the hallway than our room, especially after a shower. Beds were firm. Pillows unsupportive. You always had to wait for staff as they seemed understaffed or busy casually talking to other guests. It was our last hotel of Lisbon and by far our least favorite. Our shower also made a really loud, whiney noise and the lights in the hallway flickered. I will applaud them for the clean shower though. First shower that was 100% clean of mold.

Perfect for a short visit in Lisbon

I'm confused by some of the negative comments I'm seeing now because we had a great stay. We arrived on the night of Easter Sunday. The room was ready and had a nice welcome gift for us. We stayed for three nights, enough for two full days visiting Lisbon which was perfect for us and then it close to the airport for our morning departure. We took a very affordable uber to our destination of the day and back and it was super straightforward and easy to do with our kids in tow. The morning breakfast buffet was perfect for us and included as titanium Marriott guests. We'd gladly stay here again.

    Marriott Lisbon bad experience

STOP - Think before booking Marriott Lisbon I normally do not post reviews but I feel very strongly about our experience at the Marriott hotel in Lisbon that I want to make sure I share this with others. If you are spending your hard earned cash to book a hotel in Lisbon, the Marriott Lisbon is not for you. My family and I have stayed in Marriott hotels around the world and the Lisbon Marriott does not have the Marriott principles. It was formerly Lisboa Penta Hotel and the Marriott principles has not transferred over. Things you need to know before booking: 1- pre approval- This will put a huge sum of money on your credit card which may restrict your spending. 2- As a titanium member we were challenged every time we used the executive lounge despite our room keycards letting us in. “Who are you, what is your room number, our policy is to check as some people come in with others when the door opens. Implying that was what we were doing. It got so bad one day and we left the lounge. The staff approach was very aggressive and not welcoming. The lounge is nothing to write home about, very small, lacked decent food and limited choices. 3- The same treatment for breakfast as the executive lounge. Staff requested room number, arguments about our rooms did not have breakfast included even though it did. Very limited choices for breakfast and after a couple of days into a 10 days stay got boring and some members of our group did not go down for breakfast 4- Housekeeping- we had to ask everyday for our rooms to be cleaned and the toiletries, towels and coffee to be replaced For what we paid, it is not valve for money.

I waited 5 hours for my room, in the executive lounge, before the front desk manager would give me a room key.

In all my years of staying in hotels, I have never had to wait on a room as long as I had to wait on my room here at the Lisbon Marriott. It’s almost as though the Front Desk manager doesn’t allow anyone here to check in early. I wasn’t even offered to pay extra, to get a room sooner & I know rooms were available the night before, because I checked prior, thinking that I might come in a day early, & this hotel had rooms available. Therefore, I know this hotel was not sold out the night before & they had rooms available for me to check in early, the following morning. Even as the titanium member, which I have been a loyal Bonvoy titanium member now for several years, I was made to wait for my room from 10:30am until 3:30pm. This is the time when I went back to the front desk & asked if my room was available & they finally gave me a key -after having flown all night from the USA. Not a hospitable welcome to Portugal! I stayed 8 nights here & one morning I asked a member of the housekeeping staff how long does it take her to turn a room around for a new guest to check in & she said about 30 minutes. This really infuriated me. I truly think the front desk manager at this hotel insists that no one is ever allowed to check in early while on his clock. The front desk manager literally made me wait 5 hours in the executive lounge before he would give me my room key. I would’ve given this hotel a very high writing otherwise. The restaurant was excellent for breakfast and the dining room staff could not have been more professional. Housekeeping was very nice and provided many amenities. It’s true, the hotel is a Uber ride away from the main parts of the city, where you want to visit, but it only takes about 10 minutes to get there and it’s only a $5 Uber ride. I’d stay here again. But, being made to wait for my room was not a kind or welcoming introduction to Portuguese hospitality.

    Not recommended

Location is awful. Titanium bonvoy recognition: welcome amenity in room on arrival. No upgrade. Lounge spread is decent though a small space. They police the lounge and check whether your room has one person or two registered to it. Upon arrival if you don't have lounge access, they try to sell it to you. It would be a more customer centric approach to just bump up your room rates by a few Euros for everyone if you're so desperate for revenue and stop hawking lounge access and policing entry beyond that of a normal Marriott club lounge operation. There could be very long waits at the front desk, even quite late at night. I would not return to this hotel.
