Mar 28, 2025Best hotel in the Canaries?
As we were checking in, a guest came over and congratulated us on choosing "not only the best hotel on Tenerife, but the best in the Canaries". I suspect that he's right - a lot of the guests seemed to be regulars. The hotel is in a very nice location just behind Playa del Duque, a beautiful sandy beach. Turn right on the coastal path and after about a mile you come to a lovely little town, La Caleta, which has many good restaurants (we particularly enjoyed the tapas in Tapitas). About a mile to the left is Funabe, which is livelier than the Playa del Duque area and, beyond there, is a string of resorts catering for the mass tourism market., Everything worked well. The hotel was full when we were there, but there was never a queue for the restaurant and always plenty of sunbeds available. The staff, who also seem to be having a good time, are a great asset, from the reception team to the waiting staff and the very helpful pool staff who would rush over to help any guest wanting to move a bed or put up an umbrella. The breakfast selection is excellent and each evening there is a different theme in the restaurant - we ate there three evenings and found the seafood evening to be particularly good. The enormous lagoon-style pool is pleasantly warm and there is entertainment in the atmospheric bar area each evening until 10:30pm, which is a nice way to round the day off. We will go back.

A worthy challenge to Barbados with a shorter flight
Definite 5 star adults only hotel, excellent service from very attentive staff. Having requested not a ground floor room was allocated a top floor sea view with pillared balcony, thank-you. Hotel and local restaurants give a wide choice of local and international cuisine. We will return.

Our happy place !
Just booked our sixth stay at GEM - our happy place ! in our view no other hotel in Tenerife compares to this one. it is clean, spacious and in a lovely area. The service from staff such as Tiziana and Diana is personal and exceptional. We like the Star Prestige area with stunning views - the jacuzzi overlooking the ocean sun set is heaven. complimentary food and drink replenished throughout the day, good quality food and premium alcoholic beverages . Tiziana is assistant manager and Diana is butler, both take care and time to make each guest's stay a special one. Nothing is too much trouble. we were especially impressed also by Andreas, a new member of the butler team who has a lovely way about him. These team members are a huge part of the reason we return each year.

Simply the Best !
Having been holidaying on Tenerife for over a quarter of a century I can say with some authority that this hotel is simply the best . If you are looking for true 5star adults only comfort and luxury with fabulous facilities and service in what is probably thee best location on the island of Tenerife this is thee one for you. That more or less says it all but let me go on to mention Tiziana the Hotels Subdirectora . Tiziana has this amazing ability- she seems to be everywhere all at once making sure all the guests are extremely happy and the staff are all doing a great job- which without exception they always are. We've just returned from out 5th holiday at El Mirador and have already booked to return again in October. We have met lots of charming interesting fellow guests and they all have two things in common ; 1) They are all going to come back and 2) They all love Tiziana . And I promise so will you. Now a couple of top tips : If you really really what to push the boat out pay extra and book La Balconada . Here you will be on the hotel's exclusive upper floor with an even more incredible stunning view , a private pool , two jacuzzi pools, couple of fully inclusive private bars and best of all the services of Diana ( like the Princess ) . Diana is La Balconada's amazing Butler. Whatever you need just ask Diana and abracadabra just like magic Diana ( like Wonderwoman ) gets it sorted. Second Top TIp : Even if sadly you are not staying at El Mirador then book dinner at their El Cenador fine dining restaurant . Possibly the best restaurant on the island with a stunning terrace ,taster menu to match any Michelin star and old school charming service from Davide the very best maitre d we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. JOIA El Mirador you are SImply the Best !!

Fabulous stay at the Mirador.
We had a wonderful stay at the Mirador. Best hotel in Costa Adeje. Staff were amazing. Every request was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Tiziana was particularly supportive. The position is excellent. Particularly enjoyed the live music in the bar. We will definitely return.
