I want to move into this hotel.
We were trying to decide between The Prince Waikiki and The Ilikai and I’m so glad our dates were not available at The Prince - The Ilikai was the perfect choice for us. We were given a room that was exactly what we requested (ocean view, non-smoking, quiet) and we were very happy and comfortable. The room was very clean - I always use disinfecting wipes all over a hotel room and there was no dirt - at all. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept on - I would like to know the make and model of the mattress. There was a selection of pillows to use and I found one that was perfect. Having a full sized kitchen was very convenient for storing our bottled water and snacks. The staff was very good - very friendly and helpful. The only negative was that one day, I left a note for the housekeeper to leave extra face towels along with my daily (fairly generous) tip - she left ONE face towel - not one extra one but a single one for two people who actually would have liked 3 in total. I found her and got another one but that was a lapse. And the “adjustable” shower head wouldn’t adjust. But aside from that - this was the best Hawaiian hotel stay we’ve ever had - and we have had 3 previous hotel stays in Hawaii. I should add that we got coupons for 1 small ice cream per day from the in-hotel ice cream shop and 2 bottles of water per day. There are shops and restaurants in the hotel and you’re right next door to The Hilton Hawaiian Village for more choices and the beach is right outside the back of the hotel. I’m day dreaming of moving into The Ilikai.

Empire Steak House roof top restaurant Ilikai Hotel dining was the best
The hotel is wonderful. Went for lunch and later to happy hour at the Empire Steak House roof top restaurant. It was an outstanding inexpensive menu. The views are the BEST! I was there to dine and not to stay. Would go again. The elevator was hot, but it was a short ride. Used to be Pesca's but they closed and this is a GREAT upgrade. Tickled it is here.

Be aware of 1738. Beautiful building overall.
Overall the building is awesome. Pools are good location is excellent as well. Security is excellent as well. We stayed in 1738 and it needs tlc. We posted a review on the Waikiki beach resort site but they are filtering bad reviews. Bugs in the unit and is showing its age inside the unit. Bed was comfy and views amazing. Door latch was broke entire time but they refused to repair it.

The Bartenders here are so incredibly nice as is all staff!!!
I love this place and I am super picky, especially about noise. This is an older well built hotel. The hotel staff super nice. You can get beach chairs and towels from the desk for free. Two pools , but we prefer The short stint to the beach which you can see Diamond Head. One other favorite part was on Friday was a free beautiful local singer and on Tuesdays they have a luau event. The front desk could not be friendlier. Also, Dwight, David, and Victor- some Of the nicest bartenders we have met. So fun to speak with. Look at the board by the elevators - Opening of Hawaii Five -0 and Gilligan’s Island Plan to be back again!!!!

Unit 1738 only. Needs lots of TLC and fumigation
We checked into unit 1738 on the 3rd. Found bugs on the counter and the door latch lock was broken off. Was told it could not be fixed til we left. The bugs were ants at first. They sprayed the counter after a few days but they were killed them. We then had larger bugs by the sink and garbage area. Looked like cockroaches. We killed 5 but they were soo fast we could not get them all. The lack of security for two weeks was unacceptable. The unit needs updating. The sliding door track needs repair and the drapes are ripped and torn by the doors. We emailed the last week regarding the door lock but was told the unit needed to be empty to do the repair. Then, on our last day we booked to stay until 9 pm. At 4 pm a man knocked and just unlocked our door code and came claiming he was maintenance. The was weird. The could not use the secondary lock from inside as it was ripped off the wall. Please make sure the bugs were fumigated and the door is fixed.
