    Best Star Prestige Areas

We’ve stayed at every Iberostar in Mexico and the Caribbean and in our opinion, The Star Prestige at Playa Paraíso Waves Del Mar is the best overall. The Star Prestige staff Laura, Ausel, Angela and Gracia are FANTASTIC! They made sure everything during our stay was perfect. There are three Star Prestige areas between the Playa Paraíso Waves Del Mar and the mirror side, the Beach Hotel. The Star Prestige at the lobby is on the Del Mar side. It is very large and has an outside covered area the entire length of the building that is enjoyed by many. There is a full time bartender always on duty - unlike at Playa Mita in Puerto Vallarta where they split their time between The Star Cafe and the Prestige Bar. The bartender Hugo was Great! The Star Prestige area down at the beach is also very large although it’s on the Beach Hotel side of the complex. There are many beds and a nice bar. There is a very well maintained Star Prestige pool area that is on the Del Mar side. It has a pool bar, bar on top of the pool bar, snack counter, tables, chairs and restrooms. The bartenders Santiago and Frank were fantastic! There are many very nice huts around the pool with a comfortable bed and a ceiling fan. On the island area of this private section, there are swinging beds beneath the palm trees. This is by far, the best overall Star Prestige area in all of Mexico and the Caribbean.

    Disappointing Experience

We have visited several Iberostar hotels before, but this was our first experience as members of The Club. Supposedly, this should guarantee a higher level of service, but it turned out to be the opposite. From the moment we arrived, the service at reception was unprofessional and unfriendly (though not all staff members were like this). We wanted to extend our stay, and instead of making the process easy, we wasted hours of our vacation calling from the reception phone, only to receive no confirmation. First, we were told to send an email, then we were directed to call The Club, who in turn sent us back to the membership hotline. The lack of communication and bureaucracy was infuriating. In the end, we had to manage everything ourselves online. Throughout our stay, we were constantly sent from one place to another without real solutions. The lack of organization and customer service was frustrating and evident. When we were finally checking out, we had another bad experience. After waiting a long time for someone to bring our luggage, we requested a ride to the hotel entrance. The staff member told us we’d have to wait 15-20 minutes without even checking if someone was available. As we walked toward the entrance with our luggage, a completely empty golf cart passed us by, clearly heading to pick up guests, yet the driver didn’t even think to stop and offer us a ride. As members of The Club, we were also offered a cocktail-making class. The only information given by the reception was that we were required to sign up, and if we didn’t attend, we would be charged $10 USD. On the day of the class, we showed up at the designated time and checked in with the staff member there. She assured us they were running late and that she would let us know when it started. A few minutes later, my partner noticed the class had already started without us being informed. We approached the area and found that they hadn’t even prepared enough chairs for everyone. A kind couple gave up their seats for us so we could sit down. Additionally, my partner inquired about organizing a wedding at the resort. The receptionist’s response was, “Oh, I don’t know; I need to call someone.” She made a call, but no one answered. Her follow-up was, “They’re not answering; I’ll send the information to your room or by email later.” After practically begging for information, we finally received an email four days later. With that level of disorganization and lack of urgency, our enthusiasm for planning such a special event disappeared entirely. The promised benefits for The Club members, like easy transportation with golf carts, were practically nonexistent. The majority of the staff were unsympathetic, unhelpful, and disorganized. In summary: a deeply disappointing experience, especially considering our expectations as The Club members. The lack of customer service, communication, and organization desperately needs improvement. That said, not all staff members were this way. Guadalupe, the housekeeper, was an absolute delight, and Ángel from reception provided excellent service. Their professionalism and kindness stood out in contrast to the rest of our experience, and we genuinely appreciated their efforts.

    Animation team

An incredible experience at this hotel! The facilities are excellent, but what really made the difference was the animation team. Always attentive, fun and with activities for all tastes. Special mention for Antonio who with his energy and charisma made us feel at home and was key to an unforgettable vacation. Thank you, team!”
