Cleanliness of hotel , friendliness of staff quality of food all 5 star you can’t complain and normally I can ! However, it would’ve been nice to have two evening meals at the gourmet market restaurant and to be able to have lunch a couple of times by the pool bar as part of the all inclusive to mix it up a bit. Just be aware that you are in the heart of the tourist area of Fanabe however if you were to move the hotel down the road to del duque / caletta it would be double the price so overall very good value for a very well run hotel. What happened Sábila?

This was my second time at Iberostar Selection Sábila. Two years ago, our stay was perfect, with great food, a nice room, and fantastic staff. This time around, it was not quite perfect, which was a shame because it was a special occasion. First of all, when I book one of the most expensive rooms in the hotel (room 580), I expect it to be impeccable, but it was not. The room is in desperate need of maintenance. The bed needs new mattresses, and you can not have twin beds in this room. Plus, there is only one mattress, so every time your traveling companion turns, you are aware of it. The bathroom sliding door was screeching like you would not believe. They tried to fix it, but not with much result. The showerhead needs changing as it is rusty and always tilting in a way that only half of it was working (we reported that, but it was not fixed). The tile grout and the floor in the shower need some deep cleaning. Our lovely housekeeper did her very best to clean it for us, but I guess she did not have enough time. The balcony is also in need of maintenance; for example, there are broken tiles, and the furniture needs cleaning. The mattresses were new, though. Some flowering plants on the balcony would be nice as it is a bit sterile. A canopy/sun shade below the rooftop pool area would be great for privacy since the guests there use it to watch the view over the ocean. We also felt a little left out. We encountered some service issues during our stay. Firstly, we had to actively seek out housekeeping staff to request fresh towels. Additionally, despite the offer of cocktails in the rooftop pool area, we did not receive any service on our balcony. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday, the hotel’s location might not be the best for you. The hotel across the street is loud more or less all day, from pool activity during the day to the not-so-great entertainment outdoors in the evening. However, there is not much Sábila can do about that. At least it always finishes at 23:00. There are also two pubs close by with some loud music. The food this time was not always great. Pastries were some days not fresh, and the food at the rooftop was just not good and really needed variety. Dinner however was very good for the most part. The spa is good, but you need to leave the treatment room immediately after a massage, not even 5 minutes to wake up or take a quick shower (even though the shower is there). You need to go to the spa for that. On a positive note, the staff is great, especially Karolina and Anna at the reception, Jesús and Pedro in the restaurant, and Begonia in housekeeping (I apologize if I am spelling their names wrong). The location is good apart from the loud neighbors, and the hotel is nice, just in need of a little TLC. I still love Sábila; I was just a little disappointed this time.

    Mass tourism hotel near beach

Pleasant hotel but definitely not 5 star category. Carpets are dirty on the corridors as well as curtains in the room. Welcome was very nice, guests are get seated while checking in and you get some choco pralines and a welcome drink. Gemma is very nice in the reception. I was hit immediately when i arrived with the mass tourism in the hotel and the crowded area. The neighbourhood is full with commercial units and fast food. Hawaii pizza, low quality food. Everything is about collecting money. Room: i have been to room Nr 415 which faces to the other hotel next to Iberostar. Meaning this i had to listen every single evening the cheap commercial music noise pollution from the other hotel. The woman singing Michael Jackson and Abba songs stopped screaming at 11ish and after everybody got reliefed, i believe. An other noise pollution issue in this room the continuous noise of the machines (aircon system and other) coming from the top of the other hotel next. This means 0/24 background noise. I could not let open the door of my balcony. Pool: plenty of sunbeds, you get beachtowel and it can be changed when you want. Pricey beachbar terrible coffee for 3-4 euros. Very nice and funny entertainment during the day, let me highlight Andrew’s job. Restaurant: incredible waste of food. I was wondering what are they going to do with the leftovers after each meal. No quality coffee only coffee from the machine which is like in the canteen. No mineral water. But 20 types of juices each of them are poured into glass bottles. I recommend this hotel and the area for those who love mass tourism and commercial entertainment, beer and party and fast food. For me it was sad to see that this part of this beautiful island was taken completely by the mass tourism. You cannot even see the landscape from the huge buildings.

Nice hotel, good location and food

I stayed here in November, weather was great, couple of cloudy days but mainly sunshine! I was on the star prestige floor so had access to the roof top open bar and pool area, along with a reserved area in the buffet restaurant. I had a side sea view room which was clean and had everything you needed for a weeks stay. Very comfy bed! It provided a water jug so you could fill up fresh cold water from the dispensers located near the lifts. I drink a lot of water so thing was ideal. The mini bar on arrival had just soft drinks and a bottle of beer which I thought was odd but I did ask for this to be refreshed and they came straight away to do so, adding wine and bubbles! The replacing of coffee and the mini bar was a bit hit and miss but replacing towels was twice a day. Good wardrobe space and plenty of coat hangers, more draws in the bedroom area would have been handy. Breakfast was lovely, excellent selection and fresh coffee to the table. I ate in the buffet restaurant once which was nice, so much (maybe too much) choice but was tasty. I used the spa twice and had two treatments which were excellent. I would highly recommend these and the spa treatment menu selection is good and reasonably priced. The 6th floor pool area and open bar. The open bar was excellent and you could help yourself to free flowing food and drinks between 10-7pm (food until 6pm). Good selection of premium drinks soft and alcoholic, and good food including pastries, fresh fruit, yogurts, sandwiches and wraps. This could not be faulted! The pool area was nice and amazing sunsets the biggest and only complaint of my whole stay was how people reserved beds at 9am near the pool and then turned up at 2/3pm to use them very inconsiderate and unfair to others. This was not monitored by staff at all. I watched a family of four reserve 6 beds throughout the day, family of three reserve 4 and two have three, you can get the idea and I just wanted one bed! This was a real turnoff for me as queuing for a sun bed in the morning is not my idea of a holiday or relaxing. The lobby bar was a nice open space and great service, very attentive and great drinks selection. I never watched the entertainment but would often hear it or hear about it from others and it sounded good. The Gourmet market is well worth a try too! Check in and check out was smooth and easy!

    Jasser is the best!

We had a wonderful time thanks to the amazing staff especially Jasser! He looked us so well remembering our room number and regular order which was fantastic making ordering drinks so easy and we have never had drinks delivered so fast! The staff were all so kind and welcoming and we can’t thank them enough for their efforts. I couldn’t recommend staying at this hotel more if you want a fantastic high quality service and relaxing stay.
