beautiful property but staff lets it down

I've stayed at many all inclusives and a few Iberostar properties. I'd say this property was not up to the standard I'd expect from Iberostar. The pluses were that it was an easy direct flight from Denver, easy access from the local airport, was a beautiful property, had very nice rooms and one of the nicest pools I've seen. The big minus was definitely the staff. The people we interacted with on a daily basis were competent but cleary disgruntled and doing the bare minimum. We never saw our concierge all week. The concierge desk was useless. They couldn't even book a restaraunt reservation but could certainly talk for 15 min trying to sell you a timeshare. I'm used to tips being appreciated but not expected. At this property the bar staff completely ignored you unless you had a cash tip in hand. Food was very good at the buffet, specialty restaurants were hit and miss. Some fine, others not so much.

Rose Hall Select is Our Favorite

Between March 2024 and March 2025, we've made three trips to Iberostar. Our first visit was to Selection, JOIA in October and Selection again. While the JOIA is higher end, we prefer the Selection overall. The staff at the Prestige Lounge (Shannon, Kerry, Javeena and the rest the staff) is, in our experience, superior to JOIA. Chef Jimmy makes my wife's breakfast perfectly. She prefers eggs over medium and 95% of the time it turns out wrong and this is true no matter where we go. However, Chef Jimmy gets it right each an every time. We prefer the member beach at Selection better as well. The ladies behind the bar (Anecia and Kacia) are personable and they really get to know you. Leroy, Chad, Warren and Rohan are very friendly as well. We'll be going back soon, and we'll stay at the Selection again. Is the JOIA a nicer property? Sure. However, the personal interaction with the staff makes the Selection our number one choice when we go to this Iberostar location.

    Amazing 9 days!

We just returned home after a lovely 9 days at Rose Hall Selection. We were upgraded from an ocean view room to ocean front and it was beautiful! Bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of space. Pools were in very good condition with no chipped tile, etc. We spent most of our days by the smaller pool which was a bit more quiet but close enough to the main pool to get involved in activities when we wanted. Loved the lazy river (when there wasn’t kids acting crazy in it!) Protip…use the lazy river early and again when most people are at lunch! There is also wonderful snorkeling opportunities right at the resort! Reefs attracted beautiful fish and we brought our own masks along. So easy to get in and enjoy the beauty! Food was generally spectacular! Steak and Seafood restaurant and Greek were two of our favorites. Staff was wonderful and attentive! Special thanks to Kerry and Marsha with Star Prestige! They checked in on us each day and made sure there was nothing we needed. We used the spa for massages and a facial. Excellent! We also went to the luminous lagoon and we highly recommend that excursion! It’s a bucket list item for sure!

Used to Love Iberostar — Never Coming Back

We’re just finishing an 11-night stay at Iberostar Suites Montego Bay, and I feel compelled to warn others: this is not the resort it used to be. We’ve stayed here multiple times before becoming parents and always recommended it to friends and family. This time? Never again. Let’s talk about the “breakfast presentation.” Colin, the concierge, was overly persistent, borderline aggressive — calling our room several times and even coming to our door until we agreed to attend. We were told it would be a laid-back, 90-minute session and we could say no at any time. That was a lie. We brought our 5-year-old with us, and when we arrived at breakfast, he was hungry. The woman who escorted us wouldn’t even let us feed him until she gave us her pitch. After we were finally allowed to eat, we were taken on a pointless tour of things we already knew. Then they brought us to the presentation center, where things went from bad to worse. It started with a ridiculous “shock value” price of $130,000 for a 30-year commitment. When we politely declined and said it wasn’t something we’d decide on the spot, the mood completely shifted. The same woman who was friendly earlier tried to guilt us by saying, “Well, now you’re getting me in trouble.” Then they brought in a “manager” to try again. We said no repeatedly. They told us we weren’t allowed to leave and kept sending in more people to pressure us. We finally got up and walked out. They literally told us we couldn’t — we left anyway. This kind of hard sell is disgusting. I’ve worked in sales — I know how it’s supposed to work, and this was not it. The rest of the stay didn’t help. Our bathroom constantly smelled like sewage unless we kept the door and toilet lid shut. Room service took 45+ minutes and was consistently wrong. Most of the staff were disengaged or uninterested — except for a few standouts like Yannick at the pool bar and the lunch lady by the pool. The Star Friends were great. Colin, who had chased us down for the presentation, avoided us completely afterward. Tells you everything you need to know. Iberostar used to be a place that felt special. That’s gone now. We will be back to Jamaica, but we’ll never stay at an Iberostar again — and we’ll be telling everyone we know to do the same. You’re better off spending your money somewhere else.

    Good experience

I’ll start by saying you should find Nadine, a concierge at the resort, upon your arrival, and she will connect with you and accommodate you for the remainder of the stay. We booked our trip through cheap Carribean, and had a lot of difficulty getting the dates shifted and adding an additional day when our flights were canceled and return dates changed. I was on the phone 8 hours the day before leaving and still left for vacation with the issues being unresolved and hoping our vacation was still going to happen. The issue was only resolved after I met Nadine upon arrival and she directed me to everyone I needed to talk to have the issue resolved in minutes without taking precious vacation time. She booked our massages and helped us find a kid friendly catamaran trip. The rooms were clean but nothing fancy. The cleaning and hotel staff were very friendly with only a few exceptions. Odaire, often in the lobby bar, was so friendly and filled with information about things to do off the resort. Renece at the front desk was always available to answer questions and assist in so many ways. The ladies with the child star camp kept the kids busy and happy while we were able to enjoy some adult time. The pools were not as clean as I’d like, but it was spring break and there were a ton of people. There were a lot of jellyfish right near the edge of the ocean. People were being stung daily but no signs are posted. , Fortunately, the lifeguard assisted my 6 year old and the sting was gone by morning. All in all it was a really lovely vacation.
