    Star Kids Camp was GRE

Liz at Concierge was extremely helpful for organizing our transportation and answering questions. Our daughter loved the Star Kids Camp. They had a variety of activities and took good care of our neurodivergent child. Yazmin was especially helpful. Overall the food was good, lots of variety. We especially enjoyed the Pacific Express. I also used the spa services and had a much needed relaxing massage. We would come back again for another holiday!

    Not a 4.5 star resort

This is not a 4.5 star resort. Closer to 3.5. When I read some of the other reviews I honest feel they did not stay at this resort. To be clear this was the Iberostar Playa Mita. Rooms are in desperate need of TLC and a proper cleaning. When we arrived, there was dirt/hair around the perimeter of the room. The air duct vent looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. Bathroom fan not working. Balcony was dirty. We were there for a week and we did not see the common areas swept or washed. For example, there was dirt and drink stains in the stairwells when we arrived. Still there when we checked out. Food was okay. Nothing special. The pool area was nice. But again needs some TLC. Tiles were falling off pool. Cracks in concrete and faded paint. Overall, the staff were friendly and helpful. This was our first stay at an Iberostar resort and I would not stay at an Iberostar again.

Pampered in paradise while whale watching from land!

This was our third trip to playa mita. First in 2019, again in 2022 and last week. We are Club Members since 2016 and have stayed at many Iberostar resorts. We were a party of six. This was a first time here for other four. This is one of our favorites. The beach is nice and easy to walk. Our first two visits where in April and the watching the sunsets from the deck was amazing. This time being February, the sun set behind the land. instead we were treated to wonderful whale watching every day. We did see beautiful Moon set on the ocean. Everything from check-in to check-out was smooth. As double black members we were able to have dinner reservations every night without a problem. Our club areas were well stocked and not crowded. The staff are always what makes Iberostar shine, even though it feels like they are understaffed compared to pre-covid days. Emanuel and Monse in the member lounge were our top performers for service this trip. We did a private tour with Chilo, arranged by the tourism desk, to Sayulita and San Pancho and enjoyed the shopping and lunch at Don Pedros. The food at the resort was on par for what we expect at Selection level resorts. Our favorite restaurant is the gourmet for ambience and quality. Great tableside preparation of beef tartar the first night. Our favorite for lunch is the Fish Tacos! We look forward to those every visit. We booked the Ocean Front Suites. They were clean and well attended by cleaning staff. We don't use the mini bar drinks or snacks but there was plenty there. They added more even though we weren't eating them, but our other guests had trouble getting there's replenished. No big deal, we shared. Water was hot and everything worked as expected. First time we didn't get in the pool or the ocean so can't comment on swimming, but the pool was heated and activities were enjoyed for exercise and entertainment. We did enjoy many Massages in the Spa and by the pool. There is construction next door for new condominiums, but that didn't create noticeable noise or issues for us. We traveled Tuesday to Tuesday and the airports/customs were a breeze both directions. This was a great vacation and we look forward to coming back many more times. If I was to complain about anything: The lack of good evening shows that we had in the past. This is the same at all of the Iberostar resorts. We are not interested in paying extra for shows. The acrobatic show on the deck was entertaining, but we had to miss most of it due to dinner reservations ( which turned out to be a special surprise from Emanuel with flowers and special attention for valentines.) My wife was not able to satisfy her craving for chocolate desert. Some came close, but none had the rich chocolate like a chocolate lava cake. Having to leave is the biggest complaint!!!

3.5 Star would be a better rating

Room -Was decent with a nice patio. However blk mold in bathroom and no water pressure in shower. No regular water in fridge (only sparkling). Pool - Cold, but was ok for a quick dip. Drinks seemed to be watered down. Swim up bar in the shade all day and was too cold to go in with the shade and cold water. Never anyone there (at swim-up bar). Bars - Sunset and Lobby were best for us. Drinks are hit and miss. You have a 50/50 chance of getting what you wanted. Views from Sunset bar were awesome. Lobby bar had good service. Entertainment - We felt that the singers in the evenings in the Lobby bar were the best entertainment. Pretty consistently good. We went to the evening show in the showroom and it was average at best. Wouldn't do that again. Restaurants - Buffet was pretty consistent and had good variety for the most part. Usually only ate there for breakfasts (or to go there for substance after terrible dinner experiences in specialty restaurants). Mexican 4/5, Asian 4/5. French was bad. Two of us had steaks that I think we ate a combined 5 bites. Gristle was so bad that i had to chew for so long on my first bites that i couldn't continue. My buddy had half fat/half steak and again couldn't eat. You have to book reso for this restaurant and even though I tried to do it before we arrived (which they said I couldn't but there will be lots of availability once we arrived) there was only 2 nights that had availability and of those they were both after 8:30. Steakhouse experience even worse. Thought I would try a steak again (which I have learned I guess I shouldn't do here), and got their Filet. It came and looked as though it was boiled. Grey throughout with no flavor. I got a "peppercorn" sauce to go with it that was even worse and no resemblance of peppercorn sauce. For my side I ordered the roast corn which didn't come and after asking twice it finally came and had full mold on both ends of the 2 small pieces (not a small patch of mold but fully covering both ends). That was the end of this meal. When I showed them there was really a small reaction of a shrug of the shoulders and took it away. :-/ I have done several all inclusives over the years and I would put this in the bottom 20% for sure. Property was nice, rooms (besides blk mold and no water pressure) were decent and some of the restaurants were ok.
