Nice hotel
Lovely hotel. Few small issues, check in and check out took ages. Receptionists were slow and acknowledged the queue but didn't seem to want to speed things up. My room should have had bathrobes and a hairdryer, both of which were missing. Luckily I brought a hairdryer with me. Furniture in the bedroom was a bit dated and scuffed. Apart from that, which didn't affect our stay, the food was fab, very quick to come out considering it was busy. Nice decor, clean and would say again. However, can be a pricey hotel which is not a problem but the service should reflect the price a little.

Reception and service charge
Long queue on reception checking in. Always takes too long. But worse there was another receptionist who was checking in future guests. Why she could not help out current guests waiting?? Plus drinks very expensive. But worse they automatically add 10% service t your bill and all they have done is pore out the drink you paid for

Bully staff with no respect for guests
Terrible , booked stay at hotel for girlfriends birthday, was told by bar staff I was not allowed to be served to alcohol as I had too much already , which was decided by a door man who I hadn't even spoken too , it was only 8.30 on the evening which ruined our whole stay ,, next day when at home I looked at my bank account where 600 pound had been taken , I rang hotel and no help what so ever said they not refunding phone police or fraud team , was disgusted , honestly the stay caused nothing but stress , I advise noone to stay there they treat the guest horrendously and the door man are nothink but bullys , who ever running this hotel are doing a very poor job , avoid at all costs to save your self money and upset , rooms just standard , no parking , place a 2 star hotel that's being generous

Inhospitable hospitality
Here is the tale of my stay at the Hyatt Regency .......... I arrived at 1pm to check-in and was told that they had a party booking who had requested late checkout, the room would not be available until 3pm. No big deal, it's Christmas, fully understood. The event I travelled to Birmingham for starts at 3pm, I will leave my bag at the hotel and return later in the evening to check-in. I return to the hotel at 10.30 on a cold, damp December evening. I am met with the entrance of 2 doors and a revolving door, all of which are locked. A sign states to use your room key on a pad to open the door, but of course I have not yet checked in, so I cannot enter. One glass door looks into the bar and I find a door bell to ring ......... no response. I see 2 employees in the bar, who look towards me and ignore my gesticulations and I am assuming ring of the doorbell. Eventually, a hotel guest turned up who let me into the hotel, I was not in anyway happy with the Hyatt's interpretation of "hospitality", locking your guests out does not in any way seem hospitable. I then paid the credit card deposit of £40 for food and went to my room to order room service. No menus, no welcome pack, nothing, so I gave up. Beyond disappointed particularly given the price paid for the room.

Excellent
Birthday trip. Excellent front desk experience. Asked for 6 rooms near each other and this was accommodated and a birthday plate was done for 1 of our party at no cost which was a lovely treat. Close enough for everything we needed with a tram stop right near hotel and within 10 mins of Christmas market and shops
