I have been coming to GDL for the last 10+ years for work. I always choose the Riu and I really like the Riu. However, A couple frustrating things. In the tool I use through work (concur) to book travel it sometimes shows the Riu is unavailable, I'm assuming because you are fully booked? Also in this same tool, there is place to send a message and I always send the message of needing a king bed for I'm a larger person. It never seems that you get this message and you were not able to give me a room with a King bed. This happens almost every time, but once in a while you will have a room with a King bed. Is there a way to book directly with you but use my company's policy to confirm if you are really full at times? Also, is there a better way to communicate that I need a King bed?

Dec 14, 2024Check-in was a hot mess
Having stayed at the RIU Guadalajara previously (10 separate visits), this is our go to hotel when visiting the city. However, after my experience at check-in this afternoon, I will reconsider staying here again. Alexia, the front desk agent who handled my check in was inefficient and lazy. I had attempted to check in at 2pm, but Alexia stated the room was not ready and to wait for an email, but as I sat in the lobby waiting for approximately 45 min, I saw over a dozen people checking in and handed room keys. When I finally addressed the matter with the front desk staff, another agent finally checked me in at 3pm. Unfortunately, I never received an email notifying me that my room was ready. Upon arriving to our room, immediately we had to call housekeeping to replenish the soap dispenser since it was empty. Additionally, although Alexia took my credit card information for incidentals, when I attempted to order room service, I was informed that I did not have a credit card on file. I experienced one inconvenience after another. Thanks to Alexia for putting a bad taste in my mouth within the first two hours of our vacation. It’s the small details that matter RIU. Do better and please consider training your front desk staff, especially Alexia.

Enjoying the panoramic view of the city at night was lovely from the open rooftop. Good drinks and a nice local menu were a bonus.

Excellent hotel, Riu will be my best option anywhere traveling in Mexico, for tourism or business, with my family, friends or alone.
