Good family holiday in a good hotel, few touches could make it better
We have stayed at numerous RIU hotels, in North and South America and the canaries. The chain is generally very good, the kids facilities are good, the hotels are always well situated, and there is generally a culture of customer care across the staff in every area of the hotels. For November the hotel was really busy, but always able to find a subbed, the heated pools really good, and not over crowded. The communal areas are clean tidy and gardens beautiful and well maintained. We were upgraded from a 1 to a 2 bed family room which was a nice touch, we had tried to book this room and tui had no availability so that was a bonus. In terms of the room, it was good, aircon in both bedrooms, enough English channels on tv to occupy our daughter when needed and the bathroom was large, always hot water and shower gel etc provided. In terms of food it was good, most days, but due to the number of guests, and quite a small main buffet restaurant it could get crowded and frustrating, lots of other European residents and different cultures leading to queue jumping etc, but, plenty of choice and always warm and fresh. We stayed 11 nights and found best time was 6:30 for dinner, quiet after the initial throng, when it opened. Our main gripe for a RIU were the bars, generally only 1 member of staff serving, meaning always a queue. There are self serve for beer, soft drinks and water, and coffee and wine, but the drinks from the bar were better in terms of the beer and the coffee. Which brings us to the wine, red white and rose on tap, none of it really drinkable, Expected better from the chain if honest, and no better alternative behind the bar. Kids Club was great for my daughter, the staff Nere, Maggie etc were great. Gym is adequate but short on weights and those they do have only 10kg max. Overall good / very good, but we wouldn’t come back to the resort or the hotel, playa blanca for us is a better alternative to puerto del carmen. Enjoyed it, but more bar staff and maybe even the odd waiter service for drinks which other Riu’s have offered. 4/5

Quality 4 Star Hotel - would have no hesitation in returning
Just returned from a very relaxing all inclusive break at this hotel. No hesitation in awarding 5 stars as the room was once again very good. The food choice at the main buffet restaurant is both varied and good quality. The waiters/waitresses and facilitates cleaners in particular work really hard to keep things ship-shape, dinner tables quickly cleared ready for the next diners. The toilets which get a lot of use are relentlessly kept spotless. Swimming pools were fine, each part of the hotel had one heated and one not. Very handy that they were the same depth throughout 1.1m. The daytime Entertainment programme is very good - we enjoyed trying Boules, Shuffleboard and Darts - special mention to the entertainment team for making everything fun, we thought they were much better than the team last year The Evening entertainment was good and very similar to last year. Overall the hotel is certainly worthy of it's official 4 Star rating and anyone looking for a relaxing break will not be disappointed. We visited mid November so obviously fellow guests were either retired, couples or families with very young children. Thank you once again to the team at the Hotel - we have once again had a lovely holiday x.

Good Location, Ideal for Guests with Mobility Issues
Our second time here this year and another great holiday. Ideal for us as a Winter sun destination and the hotel is in a good location, within walking distance of PDC or Matagorda, laid out in beautifully kept gardens. We were upgraded again to a sea view suite, this time on the ground level, which made things easier for us as one of us uses a mobility scooter (hired on the island and delivered to the reception ready for our arriva; We also hired a proper shower chair from the same company which was delivered to our room). We had a suite so plenty of space to store the scooter and charge it overnight. Easy access to the pool for those of us with mobility issues, with staircase style steps and handrails or a pool lift for those that might need it. The whole hotel is accessible (right hand lifts large enough for a wheelchair or scooter). Room and public areas spotlessly clean, staff friendly and helpful and plenty of choice for all meals. Canarian restaurant meal one evening, which was delicious, staff very accomodating with the scooter. Breakfast offering was excellent with lots of fruit and juices to choose from and very tasty scrambled eggs with ham cooked to perfection. Only complaint is the pool could be warmer and the evening entertainment didn't seem to be up to the same standard as earlier in the year. Even so, we have booked again for next year and would recommend.

This hotel ticks all the boxes for us. The food is excellent. And presented in a professional manner. The waiting staff are all friendly and helpful. The animation team especially ramases in the riu art department was excellent. There s plenty of sunshade s and sunbeds. Would go back again tommorow if we could
