A relaxing & pleasant Resort
Our stay at this resort was very good in all aspects. It is nicely located surrounded by a beautiful bay. Room was sea view & very comfortable with large bed, great mattress, etc. Food at the different restaurants was good with a good variety of meals/ food. Service was also good & attentive. The staff were polite, smiling. Entertainment was ok & an improvement may be made. The last show ( Africa ) was the best!!! The only problem experienced was with 2 restaurants which were closed for a couple of days ( kitchen problem ) & unfortunately we were not able to visit them. The best variety was found in the Buffet, le Marché, where you may find all kinds of food. In all, a really nice stay in a very pleasant & comfortable Resort.

I would not go back.
Decent resort, clean, staff was great... rooms were decent even though the air conditioner could not be adjusted from 26… took forever for the hot water to start flowing (at least 8 minutes) decent vibe at the resort. As a family of five we spent over 10k to go, we were polite to all the staff, did not abuse food or drink, spent over $300 tipping the staff, quiet… minded our own business.. a very low maintenance family, we even spent money at your overpriced store as well as bought several thousand dollars worth of jewelry. I was shocked that you guys charged $150 USD because my 7 year-old daughter lost her bracelet at the very beginning of the vacation… It was tied together not even using a steel clasp... I had to go back twice during the week to have mine tightened. To charge me 150 USD is disgusting, not reasonable and definitely not justifiable... as much as I enjoyed this resort and this franchise, out of sheer principle you'll never see me spend another dollar at any of your resorts for the rest of my life.

Ignore all bad reviews
Just arrived home from Royalton negril we spent 11 days here and we loved every minute the buffet food was amazing so much choice! The restaurants included were all amazing as well! Room was clean tidy and cleaned everyday of you wanted them to be never had a problem with any staff. The hotel it’s self was always being cleaned the pool every morning and night and just through out the day if needed. The vibe team were great kept good vibes by the pool all day. Drinks were always really good and had premium drinks if you wanted but do have to ask and we were NOT DIAMOND CLUB. Nothing was to much trouble if you asked for something. The bad reviews people leave I think people are just very picky and expecting an older building to look brand new I would say they just have unrealistic expectation but I would 100% stay again and recommend to anyway to book here even more so if you have children as much to do here. Only think to bear in mind as wasn’t made aware before is the bar inside the pool was not open but this wasn’t a problem as they do come round and take drink orders!

Great time spent in Jamaica!
Went with a large group of (26) and majority stayed in the diamond club. Other than helping with dinner renovations, it was very unclear on what the butlers were there to assist with. Check in was very late at night and I’m sure if it was done at the diamond club would have been a better experience. Butler service was very inconsistent among the group but we lucked out with Damion and Guana who always checked in and made us feel special. A couple maintenance issues in the room that weren’t fixed but attempts were made so can’t complain. Food was great, no complaints there. I would have loved a food truck or self serve on the diamond club side. Drinks were amazing and we were served promptly. Daina was very fast at the swim up bar. Our beach waiters were hit and miss. Even after tips, sometimes wouldn’t see them the rest of the day, so we would just go get our own. The vibe team was incredible and made our days by the pool so enjoyable! Shout out to Ty, butterfly and MJ (and many more whose names I cannot remember) for the awesome games, great music and dancing!! You guys were so great and made us and our kids feel so special ❤️ snorkeling around the property was incredible, I wish we had known about the water sports being closed, but we had a great time in the ocean! Some vendors were quite persistent in the water but never pushed. All around a great time, I would come back! 👍

Great Location but Terrible Guest Service
This review is for a 12/27/24 – 1/2/25 stay for our group of 9 that included 4 adults, 4 older teenagers and one preteen. It’s hard to express how utterly disappointed we were with our hotel experience. Luckily, we have great kids and we all have a sense of humor and did not let it ruin our vacation. However, I would NEVER recommend this hotel and intend to share with Marriott that branding this hotel as an Autograph Collection does nothing but tarnish Marriott’s reputation. In fact, the hotel misleadingly claims to be AAA Four Diamond. I found this difficult to believe, so I decided to investigate it further once we returned to the U.S. According to the official AAA website, the Royalton Negril has not been a AAA Diamond hotel since 2022. This was not surprising, as the level of service and maintenance we experienced didn’t even come close to the standards typically expected of a AAA Four Diamond designated property. Just about the only positive thing I can say about the Royalton Negril is the location. The beaches were gorgeous. The small beach was serene and relaxing, with thatched umbrellas providing shade and a peaceful atmosphere. The larger beach offered more activities, including free paddleboards, kayaks, and sailboats, along with a lively volleyball court. The ocean was warm, a beautiful blue and although not teeming with sea life, had a decent amount of fish, starfish and stingrays that you could see while snorkeling close to shore. One of the main issues we experienced at the Royalton Negril was ongoing maintenance concerns. The door to our room was broken and wouldn’t close properly, stopping short of fully shutting. Despite calling the front desk twice and speaking with our housekeeper, who mentioned that maintenance had been called about the issue several times in the past without a resolution, it was never fixed during our stay. We had to resort to improvising with a hanger to just simply close the door, which was both inconvenient and frustrating. Given the price and reputation of the resort, we found this hard to believe. While it’s not uncommon to see room service dishes and trash stacked in a hallway overnight, the piles at this resort just grew and grew over several days. It seemed like neither housekeeping nor maintenance felt responsible for clearing the dishes. This level of neglect is something I would not expect from a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel. The heater for the jacuzzi and hydrotherapy area at the spa was broken. This was during the week after Christmas, a peak time when the resort was at full capacity. It’s hard to understand why this wasn’t prioritized and fixed quickly. Additionally, several public bathroom locks were malfunctioning. My friend got locked in a bathroom near the lobby, and later, my son got locked in one near the pool. Thankfully, they both had their phones with them and were able to call for help. Even several days later, the locks were still broken. The lobby at the Royalton Negril offers a stunning view of the beach and ocean, which should make it a nice place to gather and play cards or have a cocktail or coffee. But more than half of the chairs were missing seat cushions, leaving the hard, deep, wooden-slatted chairs uncomfortable and unusable. When I inquired at the front desk, I was told the cushions were out for cleaning, and no replacements were available. It was baffling that they chose to send the cushions out during one of the busiest times of the year and did not have spares. It is hard to know where to even start with a review of the restaurants. The breakfast and lunch buffet restaurant (Gourmet Marche) was reliably decent, offering a good variety of pastries, desserts, pasta, fish, meat, salads, and vegetarian options prepared in many different cuisine styles. The outdoor dining had a very nice view. However, we found the staff to be almost hostile in their attitude, not providing necessary cutlery or even attempting to bring a drink order in any kind of timely manner. Of course, there were a few staff exceptions, but on the whole, we found the staff to be extremely unfriendly. Our dining experiences at the full-service restaurants were worse. To start, having a reservation meant little to nothing. Despite having an 8:30 PM reservation, we were often not seated until after 9:00 PM, with our food arriving after 10:00 PM. The hosts were disorganized and seemed to have no idea how to manage seating guests efficiently. Once seated, the servers were generally unwelcoming, with poor attitudes, and it often took over 35 minutes just to receive simple drink orders, like sodas and wine. At the Japanese restaurant, after waiting over 40 minutes for our food, we were told that the vegetarian option we ordered wasn’t available — a detail that should have been communicated at the time of ordering. The medium steaks we ordered in Hunters Steakhouse arrived charred and almost unable to cut with a knife. Additionally, on several occasions, one or more members of our party of 9 were left waiting an additional 20 minutes for their food after everyone else had been served, with no apology or acknowledgment of the delay from the staff. To make matters worse, there were times when the restaurant didn’t even have enough menus for our table — they claimed they were out of menus, which is simply laughable. Even after being seated, we frequently had to ask for basic items like silverware, and when we requested more, the staff acted as though it was a huge inconvenience. Unfortunately, the indolent attitude of the restaurant staff left a lot to be desired. It is clear that the guest experience was not a priority at these restaurants, which was incredibly disappointing as we were looking forward to the dining so much. Overall, the Royalton Negril is in desperate need of renovation, as both the facilities and the staff fell VERY short of expectations. From the broken doors and trashy hallways to the lackluster dining experiences, it’s clear that this hotel is not being properly maintained or managed. More importantly, the staff seems to have little regard for hospitality, which truly impacted our stay. They seemed disinterested, unprofessional, and unaware of the importance of providing quality service. We worked hard to be able to afford this vacation but felt completely unwelcomed there. With so many other options available, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a relaxing, high-quality experience. A full overhaul of both the property and the service culture is absolutely necessary.
