Second Home
We consider the Sens Cancun and the Oasis Palm, our second home. The two hotels are connected, and complementing each other. There are many good things about that place. What I love most the cleanness, if you are obsessed with cleanness like me, this is the place to have a good time, it is meticulously clean from floor to ceiling, and what is in between. You will find very good staff led by: Mr. Eduardo Perez, Mr. Rafael Breceno Cambu, and Mr. Gerardo Dorado, I wish I remember more names to mention. They will go out of their way to make you comfortable and enjoy your stay. They are creative, every time you go, you will find something new for more enjoyment. One of the secrets of making this hotel unique the communication between all the staff, working together as coworkers, regardless of the position or the rank. This time, I discovered “the inner room” for prayer and meditation, enclosed its picture, I recommend using it. We are looking forward to our next visit, hopefully the weather will help on May, to spend our Golden anniversary there.

Long story short....stay somewhere else!!!!!
I will apologize now for the length of this review...... I booked this resort last minute for a birthday and de-stressing vacation. All I needed was a basic, well maintained and relaxing resort. This is not what I got. Where to start? At the very start I suppose . I arrived at the resort and, at first glance, looked like your basic and nice resort. Upon checking in I found out that the room I booked, one with a balcony jacuzzi, was not what I was given. Luckily I was then moved to room 1010. Top floor suite with jacuzzi overlooking the water. Never being to Cancun before i did not, at first, realize I was facing the street side, and not the ocean/beach side. To make matters worse, it was so terribly noisy from the fan system at street level, combined with the noise from the street itself, that sleeping was next to impossible. The only part that made sleep even more difficult was the fact that the bed had a single sheep on it. And no other blankets to be found. Even with the AC turned off it was so cold, I had to use towels to stay warm. I went to the front desk the next morning and I was moved across the hall to 1013, thankfully overlooking the beach/ocean. It was perfect......or so I thought. As I was recovering from a leg injury, I had planned to use the jacuzzi to help with recovery and relaxing. It would have been perfect, had there been any hot water. The hot water in the bathroom/shower was fine, but not for the jacuzzi. I left it running for about 30 minutes hoping it would heat up, to no avail. Also, there was so little water dribbling from the jacuzzi faucet that even after 30 minutes it was only 1/3 filled. I had to go down to the front desk to ask for my room to be cleaned and the jacuzzi fixed. Over the week I had to have someone come up to the room on 3 different occasions to get the jacuzzi working. Annoying and frustrating. The rooms, and the hotel in general, are certainly showing age. The towels are old and frayed. The shower head had to be propped against the shower wall to hold it up. The wi-fi is spotty and often did not work at all. The elevators are tiny and slow, and not in the best condition. They stopped mid-floor twice while I was on them. Only for 15 seconds or so, but still disconcerning. HINT: use the service elevator around the left side of the main elevators. Bigger, better and faster. The bathrooms in the lobby were incredibly dirty and, on one visit, the last stall had feces and blood on the floor around it. I spoke to the concierge regarding my concerns and he seemed to be very intent on making things better and asked where i was having dinner that evening and he would make up for everything. Being curious I told him which restaurant I was going to. At the end of dinner the waiter brought out a little cake about the size of the palm of my hand with the word "FELLEIDADES" scrawled on the plate. To make things worse, it tasted like crap. So much for being taken care of. The buffet is the same food every day. Very basic. And there is always a huge line up for meal times. I did a few of the restaurants a la carte but the best 2 were Careyes and Akeru. The bartender at Akeru was the best of all of the staff I encountered. I wish I could remember his name, but he was great. (see pic). The a la carte restaurants are the best bets to eat. I did a spa day (steam, sauna, massage). The steam room was mediocre at best. I had to repeatedly spray cold water on the walls to make any steam at all. There were no slippers provided so you have to walk around a dirty floor in bare feet or on stained and frayed little towels. The massage was fine but not entire experience was not worth it. In the past, I have been to many family friendly resorts and never had an issue. This place, however, was PACKED with children. The beach. The resorts. Even the bars. So loud. All the time. The beach was ok. Nothing special and not that big. There were only 8 nice beach chairs/loungers that had little mattresses on them, but they were rare and hard to get. Only made worse by the fact that the mattresses themselves were not only dirty, but grossly stained. (see pic) To get one of the other beach chairs, be there early.....really early. There was only 1 server on the beach that I saw. Hector was great, and worked his butt off, but was truly overwhelmed by the number of people he had to take care of. At the end of the day this was the worse resort I have been to in my 20 years of travelling to Mexico. The few positives were hugely overshadowed by the negatives, which I did not completely list here. Some staff were phenomenal, helpful and attentive...while some were outright rude and dismissive. I was more stressed when I left than when I arrived. I know they won't refund any of the money I spent on this resort, but I am hoping by writing this tale of warning, I can save you from wasting any of your hard earned cash there. Go somewhere, anywhere, else. The only reason it got a 2/5, instead of 1/5, is due to the cleaning staff, Hector on the beach, the bartender at Akeru and the fact that, at times, I could find a quiet spot on the beach away from the throngs of huge families and, I wish i was exaggerating, more children than adults. I even waited a week before writing this to allow myself to chill before putting fingers to keys. The first draft was much more damning. Thanks for listening. Hope it helps. :)

Amazing
This was honestly an amazing experience. Staff were always attentive, the food was amazing (definitely try Miramar for breakfast and lunch), room was cleaned every day, the beach and pool area was kept clean and we were being served drinks all day. We did book the all-inclusive option, which was well worth it, in my opinion.

Excellence hiding in plain view
At Akeru restaurant in the Sens Resort,Cancun, all kinds of sushi food and service are excellent. Chill ambiance and class made us comfortable. Marco our server was very friendly and professional. Thank you Marco. We hope to see you again.
