Apr 14, 2025I never wanted to leave!!!!!
If you've read other reviews -- you know to pack your own washcloth and don't expect hot water. And that is the absolute worst of it all!!!!! This resort is clean -- yes, getting your room cleaned takes a long time (late afternoon), but once it is clean -- it's BEAUTIFUL!! The housekeeping staff does an amazing job!!! I loved the size of this place -- not large at all!! So I was able to hang out with other guests and get to know them and the staff!! The beach is a great size and is so clean!!! Snorkeling was solid!!! Georgia, Snoop and Courtney at the pool bar -- THANK YOU for being such kind souls -- and so good at your job!!!! The entertainment team taught me a few new drinking games and some awesome water aerobics -- you guys work so hard!!!! The bell hops were all so friendly and helpful -- I so appreciated their wisdom!!! Traveling solo, I felt safe and taken care of, and I loved it. I will stay here again!!!!!

The view is what sells this place. Every room has a fabulous view of the pool/beach. If you can get up high! I found the food to be good and varied too. The hotel did well with the buffet and the entertainment. This is what would bring me back. However...the shower was a bit pathetic and for 6 days it was cold water. No grab rail and leaked into the entranceway. Mini fridge not stocked regularly which was a bit annoying. The manager Mustafa was a joke. He just avoided people and didn't seem Interested in helping us. we had elderly Jamaica. parents who came back to the area to see family etc They couldn't have a decent wash for days due to the cold dribbling showers which were in every room we stayed in. Just simple things would have made a tremendous difference..a working hot shower, safety rail to hold to, it was just a bit tired. For the safety aspect Tui moved us and upgraded 8 of us to a Riu Hotel in Montego Bay. So be aware if you are going to the Decameron its more like a rental property v the Riu which is like a well cared for owned home. Decameron is rough around the edges amd the management let's it down.

A perfect time in March at the Decameron
The Grand Decameron, Cornwall Beach, Montego Bay, Jamaica, is one of our favorite destinations. We have stayed many times over the years, and before Cornwall Beach was built, we stayed at the sister location next door. What brings us back each time, you may wonder...I will be glad to tell you. We enjoy the quick arrival time from the airport. There are always plenty of taxis waiting, and within ten minutes of exiting customs, we are walking into the Cornwall lobby. The lobby is lovely, with comfortable seating and a view of the beach and pool. It is staffed with polite and knowledgeable staff. If you arrive early, they will provide your meal, as they did ours, and hold onto your luggage until your room is ready. There are places to change from travel clothes into beach attire. A snack bar is available if the main buffet is closed. The meals at the Decameron are awesome. I love the salad/fruit/pasta bar and delicious breads best. My husband enjoys the special meats and fish. He has an individually prepared omelet each morning and thoroughly enjoys it. The staff in the dining room always become our favorites. We are always so happy to see Godfrey and Tevin; this year, we met a new and wonderful server, Raquel. The fun crew was terrific. We loved 'Sunshine' trivia on the beach. What fun! Guests took part from the bar area, the beach, and the pool, and some were loud enough to be heard calling out answers from the balconies. We enjoyed this game every time it was played and even were able to answer a few questions first. My husband also played a bocce-type match and was the winner! The grounds are clean and well-kept. Every evening after dinner, we walked the length of Cornwall and the sister hotel. We enjoyed hearing the small peeper frogs that hide within the flowers and trees. Anytime we pass staff as we walk, we are greeted with a friendly word. The beach is perfect, and we enjoyed spending most of our time in the comfortable loungers. This year, we were happy to see the addition of Adirondack chairs. If you want to read, do puzzle books, or just sit more upright, you will find these chairs very comfortable. Will we go back? I hope so sooner rather than later.

GO TO THE DECAMERON
I have to tell ya, we went through every single review and still chose this place and we are SO happy we did. My partner and I have traveled all over the world and been to many all inclusives. We never expect too much from the food, we hope for good people. We got that here in Jamaica at the Decameron Cornwall. The vibes were perfect, the hip strip is so fun and has great local food. See Elvis if you want to take a walk to the pork pit! Get the spicy shrimp and the ribs ;) At the resort, the entertainment was so so fun and the beaches are unrivaled. Yes, people will come up to you and ask if you want to purchase things but it’s a hustle and a simple no thank you will suffice. Yes it may take a while to get things, but dont forget….YOURE ON VACATION. It’s island time baby. Relax, everything comes in due time. Tip the bartenders and the entertainers… they work hard. We will come back once a year because of the people below who really made our stay worth while; Vanilla Sweetness JJ Bugsy Shakir Brandon Romario Jerome Krecia Fiona Martha Shaq Junior Shevantaugh (I’m sorry if i spelled that wrong) Caroline TC King You all do such a fantastic job. Just retuned. When we arrived we discovered there had been no hot water in any rooms for 2 weeks. No hot water for first 5 days of our stay. Ran out of beer several days in a row. Ran out of plates in buffet constantly. No hand towels or wash clothes.
