Better options
I would describe the hotel as spring break gone wild. The rooms are great, but there is a pool party every day and the noise is deafening. No chance of sitting on your balcony and reading a book or taking a nap. The restaurants are a joke. If you go at six, they tell you there is an hour and a half wait for a table, even though the restaurant is half empty. The food is mediocre at best. The only good meal we had was at the gourmet pub (excellent fish and chips). The buffet was subpar. The high end Asian restaurant was a huge disappointment. The hotel staff were great but, the food options and noise level from the pool were big negatives for me.

Wonderful all inclusive.
Very happy my wife convinced me to give Eldorado another shot post covid. TUI BLUE has raised the bar at the restaurants for sure. Vegan and Mexican in particular. Sooo much better than prior management. Staff is fantastic. Beautifully groomed beach. (Definitely more of a beach destination than pools) You would be very hard pressed to find better snorkeling from shore anywhere in Quintana Roo. I like exploring new locations, but this one will deserve a three-peat.

Read my review then make your own decision.
First the positives, the staff are lovely and always happy . Bring a drinking flask this keeps your drinks colder at the beach, I got mine from matlan . My best advice if you are going to this hotel is to bring plenty of dollars for tips, Tesco do something called a tip pack , the more you tip the staff the better you get treated and looked after. Bribery will get you whatever you want for dollars. The restaurants, their are only 2 restaurants that you can book , Italian and Japanese the other restaurants are first come basis, you can never get in because the Americans have priority and are allowed to book any of them when they arrive, you will notice they get treated better than the English . Restaurant manager is called Lewis , we complained to Lewis and he did book all our reservations for us so we was very lucky. Hotel is taken over by load Americas and Canadas playing load music on the beach, drinking getting drunk, shouting to each other , it is not quite, the hotel is not a quiet resort always something going on . If you go over to the American side in the day time they have pool parties and foam party’s all day . The drinks are premium branded alcohol. Food for breakfast is omelette, any type of eggs , toast , pancakes with syrup, fruit , bacon , sausage , hash browns and a load of stuff that looks like slop , cheese , pasties, cereal. Food for lunch, burgers, hotdogs , chips, pizza , chips, fish and chips, chicken and beef fiesta's inside the buffet they do pasta, salmon and fish, soup, cheese, salad. The night time restaurant, the Mexico restaurant is really bad and the Mexico night they do on the beach is even worse, the show is good with the dancing but the food is really bad and if you want to sit down you have to pay for a table.£100 dollars. All the food is not good, not anything you would expect for a 5star or the price it costs to come here, I’m not writing this review to put people off this was our 3rd time and it has changed ownership and things have gone downhill and I think people should know what to expect. Their are 3 complexes in one and you can use the American side has much has they use the English side, their is also a nudest part called hidden beach, you can pay if you want to go in ,the Americans come over to the English side has their is more to do over the side and more restaurants and bars . Buggies take you to the American side and to the Japanese and Italian restaurants from outside of reception. Make sure you were flip flops when you go in to the toilets has the floors are always wet and dirty. Bring tables has you will get a poorly tummy. Use the hand sanitizer has some people don’t wash their hands. Bring jungle spray or you will get bit. Their are men on the beach selling hats , glasses, cigarettes and drugs. Some rooms are really noisy has the carts go past all hours of the night, and if you are near the bars they are open until 1pm then people leaving drunk and shouting. Tip the maid and you get new fluffy towels or they leave you ones that look like rags. The fish in the sea are harmless and the raccoons are harmless. The birds are fun to watch trying to catch the fish in the sea and are harmless. The holiday has been ok but we wouldn’t come back .

2-3 star at best overall
We paid close to $7200 for the all-inclusive package in including flights from Toronto assuming this was 5 star. Lets start with the pros, the facilities are great, room was great at had swimout on 4th floor. We spent most of our time on day beds which had plenty of availability. Room service was available in case of emergencies and was usually fast against there SLA of 35-40 mins. One time they came as fast as 10 minutes with food. The food itself was below average. We enjoyed the seaside branch which was small and the larger one at seaside palms. That is it for positives. In terms of negatives, service is non existant. Food is being served overcooked and sometimes totally cold (example in driftwood restaurant they serve cold chicken wings, shrimp and fires). Chicken and shrimp was overcooked to the point of being rubbery or dry. English is weak and no attempt is made by most staff to try to communicate or understand. Its usually throw the food on table in increments and leave as fast as they could. No one check is you have cutlery or water etc. Hunting for where you will be able to find food at any given time is a sport. The resort is big and frequently you will find yourself running around look for what is open. There is no central location which explains what is open and where you can eat at any given time. Restaurants are overloaded and you can only book two restaurants for one time only. Food is not spiced at all in buffets usually not even salt and pepper so tastes like hospital food. In terms of entertainment it was pretty boring. There was a new years show where most seating was reserved for those who paid. Rest were confined to the fringes and waiters were rude to kick you out even if you sat down on unmarked unreserved hard stools. Besides that one time there was a Mexican show again with reserved seating where you likely had to pay extra and one Jamaican band and a saxophonist. One time it was karaoke night with the guests entertaining themselves. We used the spa massage packages two time for a total of 2 hours and 10 minutes. It was a mixed bag based on masseuse. Overpriced for what it was and as always service provided was inconsistent. To sum it up overall very disappointing. Facilities 4/5, Food 2/5, Service 1.5/5, Entertainment 1.5/5, Frustration of navigating and looking for food 1/5. Was I happy and satisfied NO, Would I refer someone here NO. Staff need a huge amount of training. Tried all restaurants the Japanese, Italian, Aricifes, Gastro pub, driftwood, seaside market.

Sad to see the decline of this hotel
This was our fourth visit - the previous ones being in 2017, 2019 and 2021. We had heard that there had been some changes but then, all hotels change over time. A week before our arrival we requested one of the refurbished rooms and were located one. Refurbishment started on one block back in 2019 and it appears that nothing has been done to any of the other blocks since then which is not good as they were all very dark rooms and in desperate need of refurbishment. Our first surprise was that you can no longer book all of the restuarants as in previous years. You could only book for Mia Casa and Klay Talay. To book all the restuarants you had to be a "Member" (whatever that was). The Culinarium had had its roof tiles removed by a hurricane and as such, was closed and the Seaside Market no longer opened in the evening. This meant trying to get into any of the other restuarants was a nightmare as waiting times were from thirty to one hour forty minutes. Even after waiting so long, both the service and food quality was not as good as previous years. The staff seemed stressed and who could blame them. On one visit to the Klay Talay, we waited at our table for twenty minutes before we were offered a drink and then waited a further forty minutes before our food order was taken. We tended to have lunch at Driftwood where there was waiter service. The staff here seemed a little calmer though when we queried why portions of chips (French fries) only contained six pieces they just shrugged. One of the reasons we have had four visits to this hotel was that there is a tennis court and we like to play every day. It has never been in great condition but was always playable - not this time. No maintenance had been carried out in years, the surface was bubbled and cracked and it had holes. The rubbish bin had not been emptied for ages and the gate wouldn't close. I could go on but this shows the depth that this hotel has fallen. There are clearly budget issues which are affecting the maintenace , the staff and the food, I understand that there are new owners and that they intend to sell some of the rooms on the American side as time share. We wiill not be returning.
